Mike & Mike with Gruden were talkiin about the Jackson Philly Phlop into the end zone, which got a 15 yard penalty, early this morning. They all agreed that it was foolish, and the NFL is entertainment. They also agreed that taunting should be forbidden. I like the Saint Vince "Act like you've been there," as well as the players showing emotion after a score. It goes back to Billy "White Shoes" Johnson. Opinions, and which were the best celebrations you've seen? Now, for our Mods, and those pretending to be Mods, so far this is nothing Dolphin, and the Mods "move this thread" fingers are twitching, as well as the Mods to be are anxious to jump. Sorry guys, here's my twist. Why is celebration on sacks not regulated anywhere near as much? Which are the best "Sack Celebrations" you've seen? My #1 is Soliai. That was really special. My #2 is Wake ging off after a sack. Who here does not LOVE IT? Anyone answering no is on IGNORE. LOL
I love the Wake celebration... simple and um not sweet just nasty. I always thought the JT celebration was ridiculous. Drawing an imaginary box and punching it. What the hell does that mean. I always said just go back to the huddle you hot dog.
Wouldn't you have to at least know what you are looking at before you criticize it? Hint: He was not drawing a "box"
Agreed on both counts. Did you see the Solia "dance?" It was special. I REALLY want another sack from him to re-live it or, maybe he improved it. It was just a bit like the Sumo guy in "The Replacements." LMAO on both. Wake is more serious but, I love it none the less.
Um...... don't care. It was a dumb celebration. He looked like a fool doing it. Still does. Just go back to the huddle and stop acting like an idiot. Made about as much sense as the "Ickey Shuffle"
Mark Gastineau was the original sack dancer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NisDP8vr17M Not saying they were pretty, but he is credited with getting it started. Watch video at 2:30 in when Slater and the Rams attack him. Also good is 1:55 into the video. I want to get me a pair of those underwear. Best TD celebrations imo were the team celebrations before the NFL outlawed them.
I have no problems with celebrations as long as they are not flat out taunting the other team. The fans pay good money to see entertainment, so I don't see getting some extra bang for their buck. My favorites are Steve Smith rowboat (not sure why that made me laugh so hard at the time), and a lot of Ochocincos and TO's old ones just because you can tell they puts some thought into them (most of the time)
he does not look like a fool doing it. Crowd would go nuts whenever he did it and he only did it when the play made a difference. Yet..you like Wake's celebration. So one guy is allowed to celebrate, and another not?
Wake doesn't run halfway down the field punching air. It has a lot more class to it. JT lets you know hey look at me I'm a bad ***. I think it made him look more like just an ***.
You are in the extreme minority in your opinion. So Cam Wake doing a incredible hulk imitation is "classy".
I like the Lambeau Leap into the stand in GB. Although I wonder what Saint Vince woulda thought. Would he have ripped a player to shreeds or, embraced it? I also liked T Davis's salute. I'm torn on those kneeling and thanking GOD unless it is in the "Church of Monday Night Football. LOL
I don't give a damn if my opinion is in the minority. You should know that about me by now bro. Yeah Wake's celebration is much more tasteful. He doesn't run all over the field saying "Everyone look at me. I just made a play I'm paid to make."
Thanks for the video. Schefter said that, by rule, that should not have been a penalty. It was not an end zone celebration, as he was not in the end zone. That should ruffle some feathers.
The most unique I've seen must be when TO took out the sharpie. I've been around for a while and that was very clever.
I recall him saying that. Then again once the ball crosses the end zone which was before he fell down it is a TD which would make it an end zone celebration imo. Personally, I liked it. Zach Thomas somersault-dive into the end zone was not bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcbXWVT5ii4
No...he stands there flexing and doing a incredible hulk imitation saying "Everyone look at me. I just made a play I'm paid to make."
That's just not fair though. His celebration dances started from the moment he got the ball and lasted all the way into the endzone. That cat had all the moves; some of which should have been illegal in 22 states they were so good.
I think all individual celebrations should be penalized. Celebrations should go no farther than teammates high fiving each other. All this dancing crap needs to stop. I hate players that do that crap.
I don't mind celebrations as long as they are entertaining. Players should be penalized for doing something thats already been done before as well.
It's a game. It's supposed to be fun. The Icky Shuffle, the Fun Bunch, that stuff was just fun. I don't see the big deal.
While I was always taught to "act like I've been there before" and that's my preference, I don't get why people have to get their panties in a bunch over what others do. For me the line would be taunting and using props. Other than that let entertainers entertain and when you don't like it, look the other way. There were several celebrations I hated, Gastineau's comes to mind, but it was mostly my issue b/c it was the Jets. That seems to be the same issue with the criticism of JT's celebration. Its no different than Wake's or most any other player's. The only difference is whether people like or dislike the player. Its ridiculous to try to legislate out everything that bugs somebody.
