Just proof that the Pro Bowl is a glorified popularity contest... Folks don't vote for players that earned it, just for players whose name they know. Ridiculous if Wake, at the least, doesn't make it.
If Wake doesn't get it that will be ridiculous and an utter travesty to the game. I know people say it doesn't mean much, but I have an underlying suspicion that this is exactly what Wake needs to show for all of his hard work over the last three years. Give the man some credit. Heck, he is only the NFL's leading pass rusher. Either way, with his personality type, if he doesn't make it, it will only make him work harder. I admire Wake for many things including his drive, commitment, focus, and a myriad of other traits. You can't get this guy down, but everyone needs a little recognition once in a while. Go Wake!
I'd be shocked if he didn't. I'm sure the players and coaches would vote for Wake. **** the fans they just vote for their favorite team.
If Wake gets snubbed it will be perfect for him..he has said recently that he has not turned on the tv in 2 months here in miami...The snub will only make this hungry wolf get more hungry.
Maybe if they made a movie about Jake Long he'd get the respect he's earned. Isn't the Pro Bowl decided by a mixture of fan/player/coaches votes?
As is basketball. I'd hope the coaches and players would be smart enough to vote in all 3, as well as Dansby and Fields.
They all deserve the probowl...especially Wake and Carpenter. W/o them the Dolphins would have 3-4 less wins, tbh.
fan voting is only 33%. The nfl doesn't publicize that too often cause if they did, fans would realize their voting doesnt really matter. the coaches and players will definitely vote in Long, Wake, Carpenter. Dansby will do better in with the coaches and players than the fans, so its good hes hanging in there.
Can someone start a threat to remind everyone to vote...... and tell all their friends and neighbors to vote too. lol. AND DONT FORGET to NOT vote for the guys whom are already leading each category.
This of course is why fans should not be voting in the first place. As far as Long is concerned. Because of injuries. He probably hasn't played up to the level he did in his first two seasons. Even if he were selected to the team. There is no way he would play in the game because of these injuries. Wake should certainly be on the team. I have no doubt he will be selected by the players and coaches once the starters are chosen by the fans. Carpenter too should make the team.Yet, since the Dolphins are not on national TV as much as some other teams. Most fans outside Miami don't even know who the kicker for the Dolphins is.
NFL won't let it happen, Wake will be in the Pro Bowl even if it's backup. Players/Coaches should put him in. If not then it's a joke.
In 1998 Miami was the 4th playoff seed, came in 2nd place in the most competitive division that year, made it to the divisional playoff round, played on Monday Night three times, played both of the Super Bowl teams that year and gave the Super Bowl champs one of their two losses that year. The defense was ranked #1 in points allowed, #3 in yards allowed, #1 in rushing TDs allowed, #1 in interceptions, allowed 57.4 QB rating against them. Terrell Buckley and Sam Madison each had 8 interceptions. Zach Thomas had 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns. Jason Taylor had 9 sacks, Trace Armstrong had 10.5 sacks as a pass rush specialist, Lorenzo Bromell had 8 sacks as a rookie. OJ McDuffie led the NFL in receptions. One Dolphin made the Pro Bowl that year... Tim Bowens. That was when I knew the Pro Bowl was a joke.
Pro Bowl, like the baseball all star game is an all representative team, not truly an All Star squad. PB in football is irrelevant.
The fact that Ray Lewis has made the probowl 11 times is reason enough for me to laugh at this "accolade". Guys like Seabass win it because no one pays attention to punting statistics, so everyone goes with name recognition. It's all BS though, I agree.
I hope none of them make the probowl. I hate seeing our players out there risking injury for a game that doesn't mean anything.
Or why play it at all? The game is so deluded because of rule changes to try and protect the players. It barely a real football game. Just make the roster and give them an award and call it good. Most vets find ways to get out of it anyways so it tells you how they feel about it.
meh... all 3 should easily make it, but the pro bowl is a joke anyways. They should just cancel the whole damn thing, its not like anybody cares.
