I wasn't citing Arison's reluctance to go above the luxury tax threshold as proof that he'd be a salary cap miser like the Bidwills in Arizona, just that his wallet may be a tougher crack than Huizenga's when it comes to non-salary cap payments. (Like the practice bubble, for example.)

F...the NFL....they couldnt move the Phins because I would go Tianamin Square on their butts. I would literally lie myself infront of those moving trucks. Sorry Wayne...Miami will always be the home of the Dolphins!!!

    Really?

Why's that, no Dolphins off the California coast?
    Please.

    It's not happening anyway.
    S. FL. is a top TV market with a top stadium which is being renovated and it's one of the NFL's favorite venues for the Super Bowl.

    The Phins are going nowhere.

I wouldn't mind seeing Huizenga sell the team. Hopefully it'll be a step in the right direction.

I don't see them moving the team tho. Miami is a popular franchise and I don't see it being a good business move to take them elsewhere.

Regardless, it looks like we got a busy offseason ahead of us.

Why not just send the Jax to LA and keep Miami....this was a joke right?

According to the Palm Beach Post, he's considering selling to Stephen Ross. A real estate developer. I'm wondering would he try to move the franchise to L.A. since he brought up a proposal once to try to start a franchise there...

Perhaps Huizenga does need to sell the Dolphins. The prganization has been in SHAMBLES ever since he bought the team from the Robbie family (damned DEATH TAX...they couldn't keep the team because the family had to pay taxes on them that Joe Robbie had already paid). Anyhow, I call it the Curse of the Robbie.

But there is a point made though....there is a danger of a new owner relocating the team. Al Davis moved the Raiders from Oakland to LA back to Oakland...the Colts moved from Balitmore to Indianapolis...the Browns from Cleveland to Baltimore and the Rams from LA to St Louis. No one would have EVER thought some of these teams would relocate.

I don't get you people that think Wayne is a horrid owner.

IMO this viewpoint is a real clueless view.

The guy has ALWAYS shown willingness to open his wallet to do whatever it takes for the franchise to win.

He's had some bad luck, listened to the wrong people and let a "good guy" stay here a couple years too long. Those are his mistakes, that's it.

I don't know how many times support has to be argued for Wayne.

JJ Johnson was a no brainer hire. He had the resume of a winner and everyone in the NFL expected that to happen here with him.
Should Wayne H. have known he'd have a mid life epiphany after his father died and would loose the desire to coach suddenly? I think not.

Wanny was a disaster and not bringing a GM to oversee him was in fact a mistake. One were still paying for, but again, Wayne H. listened to the coach he and the entire NFL had respect in JJ who recommended him.

Saban was another great hire. The guy was well respected by many in NFL circles and many felt Saban would be the next great NFL coach. Who knew he'd decide the NFL was too big for him to handle. I can't blame Wayne for making this hire. It made all the sense in the world.

Finally, he's figured out he needs a GM running things. I think the Mueller hire was a good one. While I'm not happy with Cameron, again, the need to hire this new coach came out of a bizarre situation in Saban bolting back to college.

Meanwhile, Wayne has openly talked about paying any amount to bring the best position and coordinators here to help this team win. He's put his money into upgrading the stadium.

The guy obviously wants to win.
That's more than can be said for other owners in the NFL.

I imagine if he does sell the team we'll all realize what a good owner we had.
I realize it now but apparently many just don't get it.

I am certainly one of those who is happy having Wayne as an owner. That being said...if Wayne was going to sell the team...I wouldnt mind an owner like Mark Cuban....they guy wants to win...would be found out in the stadium in jeans and a fins jersey....but...I dont think Cuban has the cash for that...

Obviously...an ownership group of Shula, Marino, the Estefans, would be a dream come true....

You have an odd definition of "shambles."

This team has been in ruin since Wannstedt had more than two years of roster management power.

because of they way it would unfold. I could see a Miami move to LA and then several years later a Jax move to Miami. We could go 2-5 years with out football before it happens.

However I would put the chances of any of this happening at less than 20%.

Can you guys stop with all this talk of Miami moving. The history of this Franchise along with the Media Market and the Superbowl Hot spot it is, this team is not going no where. As far as the selling goes we defitnetly need an owner who is more involved and knows what he is doing.

It's impossible for us to relocate right? I mean, with all of this history?

Miami CANNOT go without a major sports team.

On the flip side, I'd love for Mark Cuban to buy the Dolphins.

Even though he's an a-hole, the guy brings so much energy to the table.

I wouldn't worry about this team moving, despite having a horrible season we still have very strong history and a loyal fan support.

Yup, thats the problem we have. An owner who is not only making bad choices, but is willing to open his wallet up and spend BIG on the wrong choice.

I fail to see how thats any better than an owner who doesnt spend the money making the wrong choice.

I'll be happy to see him sell the team even if it means relocation. I've never been to Miami so I'd have no problems rooting for the franchise in a different city.

And I know of a good established Miami Dolphins fan presence here in LA that would like to emerge from the shadows. If they would choose the Rose Bowl, I could land free tix.

It makes no sense after Wayne dumped that money into Dolphins Stadium to move anywhere...Im also fairley confident that Wayne would not sell the team to anyone wanting to move.

And no....if they did...I wouldnt root for them. Id wait for a new team to show up in Miami.

    Excellent Post Coral Reefer,

Even now, theres a sense Wayne would rather move the team along to another owner, before allowing any consensus to begin pointing in his direction, as an impediment to bringing a championship back to the city of Miami.
I shudder to think of the grave possibilities a change of ownership could mean. A hasty exchange at the top, could easily land the team in the hands of a William Clay Ford, or Bidwell type, or fall to the clutches of a family tree like Cincinatti's Paul Brown's, virtually locking up productive control of it, from one generation to the next.
I really can't see the Fins anywhere but in Miami, and I'd rather any other team come here before the Fins. Otoh if the Fins ever had to leave, I'd rather see them in LA, before transplanting anywhere outside of Florida.

Good intentions does not make one a good owner. A good owner WINS. Something his team never did under his stewardship. We won 5 or 6 playoff games total in his 16 years of ownership, and made one AFC Championship Game, and ZERO Super Bowls.

Since he has owned the Dolphins, 21 other teams have made it to the Super Bowl (several multiple times) which is 2/3 of the league :

Buffalo, Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta, Indianapolis, NY Giants, Chicago, Seattle, St Louis, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Denver, San Francisco, Oakland, Green Bay, New England, Carolina, Tennessee, Baltimore, Cincinnati.

It just goes to show how bad an owner he has actually been, when some of these franchises are traditionally very poorly run, yet managed to make the not only the playoffs, but the Super Bowl itself.

Keep deluding yourself that Wayne is a good owner if it makes you feel better about yourself and the team. But remember the numbers say otherwise.

Judging by the results from ALL of the sports in this town right now, we've been going without a major sports team for almost 2 years now.

We'll see how many of those loyal fans will pony-up for season tix next year. Ones that I heard will include a $ 3 increase in price (from $ 87 to $ 90 a game).

How galling will it be if they increase ticket prices for next year ?

Trust me, the Jax Jaguars would not be far behind the Dolphins in Miami if they left for LA. The Jags need to get out of Jax in the worst way. That is a BAAAAAAD market.

Is it now? Answer these questions then. Since Wayne Huizenga bought the Dolphins in 1994, how many AFC East titles have the Dolphins won? HOw many AFC Championship? How many playoff appearances? The answers are zero...zero...and two.

Opening your checkbook isn't always the right answer and doesn't give the result you're looking for. Not meaning to bring politics into the picture, but the Bush adminstration has increased spending on education by hundreds of millions of dollars and the education system today isn't any better than it was before he signed NCLF. The same can be said about Huizenga. Yes, he's spent the money, but it hasn't been spent wisely.

I used to live in Miami and went often to the Orange Bowl when I was very young to see the UM Hurricanes and also the Dolphins. The mere thought of them moving is just a nightmare ! But, this is a business and I wouldn't be surprised if a new owner did move the team if not now, then in the near future. All the above teams are great EXAMPLES to show that anything can happen. Unfortunately, it's ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS !

Wayne continuing to make us look like idiots

This whole business about selling the team now that we've gone 0-13 is only making us look more like a messed up organization than we did last week!

Think about it. Saban left, Cam's a failure, now Wayne wants to jump ship! This organization has turned into the laughing stock of the league. It's gotten to a point where even our biggest rivals feel bad for us, they PITY us.

All I know is, if Wayne doesn't sell, he better clean house. It's going to take years if Huizenga is still the owner to rebuild, maybe a decade for him to find the right people.

If he gets new, intelligent management, it'll take less time.

But the thing I worry about is not only having a rookie head coach and a rookie GM, but a rookie owner too! God, how awful will we be from now on? The new 49ers.

My understanding of it is that he wants a billion or more. The Dolphins go from a proud organization to THIS and Wanye is going to make hundreds of millions of dollars:confused2:
