My list: - the progress of Henne (and the playcalling of Henning). I want to see if Henne performs better against zone looks, and if he regresses at all in the things that HAVE improved. Looking for two steps forward one step back, at least, from Henne. If the Jets play man coverage, I'll be pissed. We already know Henne is competent vs. man coverage. Want to learn more about Henne. - Want to see if Ronnie or Ricky show enough leg to convince us of their dependability next season. This will be a hard rush defense for them to face... if Henning gives them the touches, I want to see them prove they have enough left in the tank to be worth extending. - Want to see Brandon Marshall's attitude on the field. - Want to see if Henning is stubborn enough to ignore everything the Pats did that worked. lol. - Want to see if Merling is worth anything more than a locker-space. How about you?
I am somewhat sick of Berger and Incognito so I will be watching McQuistan and Jerry if he plays. McQuistan has improved somewhat from his first game when he was god awful. Want to see how he finishes the season. I would like to see Jerry and see him get some experience prior to next season. Will look to see if we get anything from our bottom roster receivers Wallace, Moore and Pruitt (?) Would like to see Henne play smart without going into a shell. On defense want to see Merling try to get into game shape before the end of the season. Dobbins had a good game last week. Want to see if it continues. Carrol and Clemons in the secondary
Great points. I agree that Jerry needs some playing time. Forgot about Wallace and Moore (is Pruitt active??). Dobbins will play far less, as Channing is starting.
Just not to see us blown out. I am afraid of this game. Its a set up for a depressingly bad game for us. I hope I am wrong, but when a team gets beat the way the Jets did last week, many times they respond with a blow out of their own the next week.
Pretty much everything you said Bpk, followed by a win of course. Re; Henning (and the play calling), R&R, and the Oline, I would also like to see a good old fashioned smash-mouth power run game. I want to see us out physical them today. Go Phins!
Well, it would mean they would force the Nacho into continued poor play if they are a dominant defense. I really expect this to be a field position type of game Bpk, which should produce plenty of chances for interceptions on 3rd and longs.
they need another pass rusher/ blitzer added to make them elite. right now we have a very good defense. if we can somehow add another pass rush threat we will become elite
The last game against the jets they outphysicaled us...I want to see how the team responds around Henne, Ill be looking for tell's whether or not they are confident in him as Their qb.
BIG implications in this game. jets gambled everything on this season with their spending, glancing, media blitz. Their loss last week has got to be a wakeup call for them as they head into the hard part of their season. A loss here make their road to the SB very hard, and mentally it could shatter them. At least that's my hope I'm most interested in seeing the QB developments on both sides. Last game Henne went toe to toe with Sanchez. I can't remember exactly the stats, but I think it was equal when all said and done, but all anyone talks about is Sanchez's coming out party. I'd really like to reverse that. Henne had a lot of success moving the ball the last time these two teams met, and I'd like to see that repeated. I'm also curious about Henning. Can't wait to see him run out of town, but one if the best planned games all year IMO was last time against the jets. We came out and moved it right away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Things I'm most interested in today: - Can the defense slow down the Jets run game. We couldn't in week 3, hopefully today we can. - Chad Henne's performance - could be without Marshall and Hartline. Ouch. - If Brandon Marshall plays - If Dan Henning has it in his skull to not call so many play action passes into Jets blitzes on 3rd downs - How Lydon Murtha and John Jerry hold up. Just a gut feeling, but I don't think it'll be too pretty. - Can Vontae Davis slow down Santonio Holmes? And in general, how our secondary holds up with Holmes in the lineup this go-around. And lastly, and IMO, most importantly, how this team comes out to play. Does Tony Sparano have these guys ready to go with the season dangling to life support (I know it's not over until it's over, but a loss today ends everything)? I think Tony is a decent coach, but he hasn't won a big game since 2008, and as we saw last week, and back into December 2009, his teams have a history of coming out flat and not ready to play. If they do the same today, I'm ready for Sparano to be a fish as well. If it were me in Stephen Ross' shoes, we'd have to go 10-6 for Sparano to keep his job. Too many big games against playoff-caliber teams that we've let slip away. It'll be interesting to see if altering his travel plans this week will be an excuse if they lose. He already hinted at the Steelers game in his Dolphin Digest Column this week being one they should've won. Someone needs to remind him when you get inside the opponents 10 yard line, you need to score TDs.
To be fair, Sanchez has torched us 2 of the 3 times we've played the Jets, and almost led them to a comeback on the last drive at the game in Jersey in 2009. I wouldn't mind shutting him down for once.
You know I live to see M&M and Lil Beast outperform the higher drafted or higher paid Wr's. They both could be in for big games this week as Moore can catch a crossing route and go the distance, Wallace can out leap Db's for passes.
And another thing, I'd like to see Darren Rizzi's Special Teams unit get some revenge on Westhoff's unit for week #3.
i want to see brandon's passion on the field.he can leave his attitude at home as it has been costing us of late.the guy makes a nice 20 yard play then does something really boneheaded right after to negate the yardage we so desperatley are searching for on o.come out, catch the ball, hand it to the ref and get ready for the next play plz.
This. The Jets have been itching to play us ever since about 11:00 left in the 3rd quarter Monday night. Our run game is soup sandwich. Hartline is out, Marshall isn't 100%, Carey is out also. Revis & Holmes are both back for this game. If our defense or ST has any lapses this game could get ugly in a hurry. I hope I'm wrong but I feel like I'm tuning in to see a train wreck. I am interested in how Sean and Vontae handle Holmes and Edwards. Can Misi & Wake do a better job setting the edge this time? Are we ever going to get any pass rush from the interior? Defensively, those guys have to know they need to play lights out for us to have a chance, how will they respond as a group? Offensively, will the Jets come after Henne or play it conservative? Henne feasts on man coverage & isn't rattled by pressure packages so teams have resorted to playing zone, mostly Cover 2. The Jets can't really play Cover 2 b/c they have no pass rushers, so I'm hoping they'll stick to their guns, lock up outside and bring pressure. If they do, it could be closer than I expect, if not, well then there's always the Pats-Bears game on Sunday Ticket.
I'd like to see a scoring drive to put us ahead/put the game out of reach or a defensive turnover to seal the game.
I think this could get ugly in a hurry too. I'll have my eggnog con bourbon close by. lol. Merling seemed to not have lost much of a step the few times I watched him last week, so maybe he can help get some inside pressure.
