Peyton Manning is the best QB in the NFL hands down IMO he is probably the best QB to ever play the game he has a Super bowl ring is a big reason he gets a pass when a lot of others dont he had a couple of bad games but everyone does he is a beast

I stopped reading after the first sentence in this thread that stated the OP doesn't believe Manning is elite. I was laughing too hard and my eyes were blurry from the watering. Will someone please tell me if the OP played a "Gotcha!" on the forum and said he was just kidding in order to get a reaction.

If he was serious he will be the first person here who I put on block. lol....

Hey MPP, Trent Dilfer won a SB does that make him elite???

the ignore button is used often, so don't hold back...

IMO, Manning is not Elite, he is a great QB but not Elite...

His Defense and Peyton won "one" Super Bowl where his Defense played 2 great Post Season games, before the SB...

Mannings stats then... 1 TD and 5 INTS... His Defense Allowed 8 and 6 points combined... Manning choked again but his Defense bailed him out...

    Don't believe me???

    Against KC...
    Against the Ravens:
So you see plainly wrtten it stated that Manning did move the team successfully for FG...

How bout that winning in the Post Season and then winning a SB carried mostly by your Special Teams and Defense...

Yeap Manning got a ring alright, he deserves it though since he got the team into the Post Seaon, I will give him credit for that...

I am a huge Dan Marino fan... but I still think he was elite, all the passing records, he had in as few games then... With about half his career with not much talent after Duper and Clayton retired...

Manning looks like he will break them if he keeps healthy for the next 3-4 years...

When you look at it, I have to agree that to some extent, Manning does show elite status, but he has had more talent around him in his career than Dan Marino had... even with Duper and Clayton (for about 10 years), and in his late years that WR's talent level never matched up to his first 10 years... Miami was always missing a top RB and TE and the OL was mainly set up for Pass Blocking...

My point (maybe the "not elite" is over done in my part) is still standing, Manning has had Marshal Faulk, Harrison, Wayne, Pollard, Dilger, Clark, Ederring James, and Adai in his career, and most have played for over 8-10 years... So his Offensive teams have been productive...

Lets dream... if in 2006 Post Season, the Colts would have lost to the Ravens because Peyton could not find the endzone and the Defense did not play lights out...

My question to you... If Manning would still be looking for that elucide Super Bowl, would you consider him elite???

That's not fair, IMO. Marino has put up bad numbers in the playoffs, but he's not labeled a choke artist, yet Manning is even though he won a Superbowl ring.

I can't punish Manning for having the talent on his team. Many times, Quaterbacks have talent on the team, but still aren't effective. Also, let's not act like for the past 3 seasons, Manning has had a ton of talent on his team. He's had Wayne and Clark, that's it. Addai isn't that good. He's solid, but not great. And he made Collie, Garcon and Gonzalez. Hell, he's even making Jacoby Tamme and Blair White effective. They both have more touchdowns than Brandon Marshall.

Yes, I would still be calling Manning elite if he didn't win the Superbowl. I just still can't believe people are still on his back after winning one. His entire career, people gave him crap for not winning a Superbowl, and now that he's done it, they are giving him crap for not throwing 4 touchdowns in the game. He won it, plain and simple.

Because we all know, Manning has had world class defenses all of those years, including the superbowl season. It is not like that year they were gashed by the run game by people such as Maurice Jones Drew.

Next time, Manning should tell his coaches to cut all of the remaining talent from the team and draft garbage players only. Just so he can be called elite.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    LOL...

I never said the that talent is garbage, I just stated that they were not studs, not pro bowl material, but they are good and do what they need to do...

The whole point of this tread was to say that Manning was having a tough streak of games and not playing up to his standards, and the media is poiting fingers elsewhere...

but we are talking about Manning right??? he still will go down as one of the greatest QBs in the NFL, no denying... and I hope he breaks all the records that Favre has, except INTs...
