Qatar really?????????????//// FIFA is a joke, I hope there is a fallout from this. Power needs to be taken away from FIFA, they have become totally driven by money at this point and do not consider the best interest of the game.
That was the worst decisions EVER made by FIFA. Blatter , Warner et al should be forced out for being crooked basatrds. 2018 had to be England and 2022 US or AUS Qatar ??? WTF , 50c heat and no stadiums and even worse no beer. No chance of me going there even if we qualify.
Qatar!!!!!!!!!! basically....when you look at something as a NO BRAINER and say..."really..Only England and the US really make any sense as WC hosts...." FIFA will look at it differently. it is SOOOO predictable. I know real money people that TRAVEL to WC's...and all of them were a lock to go to England for a WC or travel the States...Me included. I am currently planning to try to make the group stage in Brazil. ME and everybody I know have ZERO interest in travelling to Russia or ****ing QATAR! QATAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
Football took a serious kick in the balls today guys. This is completly ridiclous. Russia I dont mind so much, as they are an established footballing nation, but Qatar, a team that has never qualified for a World Cup?????????/ I find it staggering how common sense can be ignored sometimes.
This should really come as no surprise to you guys... seriously...FIFA? LMAO... certainly, intitally stunned over the Russia pick, but it all makes sense... especially considering the announcement was late (while more money came in)...
even Russia.... everybody I speak to that has been says the same thing....Moscow is great...the rest of the country is Boise, Idaho. This sucks. Now I better go to Brazil because it will likely be the only WC I ever attend.
Its not so much as surprise, rather than a confirmation that the people running this game have zero interest in football. I think many people wanted to believe that there was no way that FIFA could sink as low as they have. At this stage people have to start taking action against FIFA, no way can this be allowed.
If England breaks away from FIFA, Fifa loses all "credibility".....I suspect that doesn't happen... the powers that be in England are too nice.
Isn't it going to be 100-120 degrees in Qatar? Are all the stadiums going to be indoors or something? I'm sure there's some new type of technology to cool it without a roof too. I'm a little surprised with Russia though, because neither Netherlands or Belgium has ever hosted, and Russia has the next winter olympics. Anyway, I think USA will get it 2026 [wow that seems far away]. They wanted to give it to new countries, with South Africa, Russia and Qatar.
What went wrong with England's 2018 bid? (only 2 votes - 3 years 50M£ to get 1 vote....dang) David Beckham's response http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/9252304.stm
I'd give Russia the benefit of the doubt, they've been around for some time, when USA 94 was announced over Brazil's bid, some people was furious/disappointed since US didn't have a professional league, football tradition, etc, and it was a good WC IMO.
To put it in persepctive , even the smallest state in teh US is bigger than Qatar , the entire country has 1m people. How anyone can say this wasnt bought is just bonkers. Basically means I can look forward to Scotland hosting 2026 now since we are 5 times the size of them
Well, I have poked fun at Soccer fans but to be serious, does anyone think that Western Soccer fans are up in arms over the corruption, but Soccer fans from Africa and the Middle East and Asia have come to expect such corruption so they just look at it as "the way it is"?
Thats a fair comment Padre. I still like to think of it as "the beautiful game" as it once was. Now its just all about cash and the rich getting richer and lining their pockets. I support a small team but I can see the day coming when even though Scottish football is already a backwater in world football terms it is just gonna be a bunch of amateurs playing while the 20-30 top european teams play in a league for the TV masses. The days of fans doing anything and everything to attend games is coming to an end. Its now far too expensive and the money being paid to top players in any sport is just obscene to the normal fan. Thats when people lose the connection and it all comes tumbling down. The NFL is seeing a drop in attendances and TV audiences go up , cant they all see whats coming on the horizon in all sports where the TV viewer is catered to more than the fans who want to go to games. TBH its depressing
Kind of sad Bro, what strikes me about the Qatar bid is, who is going to haul themselves there, and not have bars etc to have a beer?
Its not so much the no beer its the 50c heat. Fine doing air conn in the stadiums but what about everywhere else ? They dont even have enough hotel rooms so they would need to build something like 100k rooms just for this tourament. Was reading about a comparison with the Rugby World Cup going to New Zealand next , they are regretting it already as the country just cant cope with the influx of a 100k+ people for the tournament and even though NZ is a well developed top class country it just doesnt have the infrastructure to move that many about. Not many places do. TBH all sport is ****ed , its a house of cards waiting to fall down , and its coming quicker than those who run the sports can see it. Edit: About the 50c heat , you will be getting predominately european teams (14 or 15 out of 32) who will never have experienced that kind of heat. Hell us ginger Scots bastards wont last 5 mins in that kind of sun
Yup, and you look at a country like South Africa...these brand new multi-billion dollar stadiums are wasted and going to waste with no one using them and filling them once the "EVENT" is done and all bodies leave. Doesnt make sense!
Well well well, look who's in 1st again? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfy0c5_ful10vb3h98r_lifestyle http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfy2li_ful21vj0g3e_fun
Dude, I can safely say that I dont think any Newcastle fan knows. Apparently he is after a more experience manager. But why even bother starting the season with Houghton if you were going to sack him at the 1st opportunity. I mean, its not like any Newcastle fan was calling for his head. I think everyone admits he was doing a very competent on a low budget. Only one that was not happy was Ashley. Just when you think this club was starting to become stable, Ashley strikes
I feel bad for Newcastle fans; I didn't get that firing at all. Surprised by the Allardyce firing too, does Blackburn really expect to be top-4? They don't have the resources IMO. One of the more exciting developements for me is where Donovan might go on loan (if he decides to do a loan this year). There have been rumors linking him to Everton, Fulham, and Newcastle. I think Newcastle has been mentioned just as speculative hope as I don't see them being bidders for Donovan. Fulham is a sexy pick and pairing him with Clint would be awesome to watch. It would also seriously help the Cottagers who are definitely missing Zamora; if Donovan came to Fulham he could take Dempsey's position (or RW), slide Dempsey up top as a Forward (even playing as a mid, Demps is their best F right now), and voila! success! The icing on that cake is playing together will only help those two hook up better during Gold cup qualifiers next year. But that wouldn't be the smartest business move for Donovan. Everton is where he went last year. It was by far and away the most successful loan spell an American has ever had anywhere. Ever. The Toffees love Landon and embrace him as their own. He knows the team, the players, Moyes. Everton also seems to have the prestige and talent on the roster to battle the top 4; both teams are battered down at the moment, but Fulham seems a longer shot to be legitimate contenders. Everton needs Donovan as a final piece to start turning things around again; they need that creator. Fulham needs that as well, but they also need just about everything else. Either way it would make PL more interesting this time of year to me. Right now there isn't much excitement for the teams I like to follow other than watching Newcastle playing red-headed stepchild to the league and surprising everybody. Wait, scratch that - Spector's new run as DM/CM at West Ham has me watching Hammer matches now, although it's somewhat maddening football to watch at times.
Next CL stage. My picks: Roma. AC Milan. Schalke 04. Bayern Munich. Real Madrid Arselona. (lol, hard to pick one here, I really like both teams) ManU. Chelski.
England needs to get it together. How old is this country and they still can't figure out how to operate with some snow. Move the games to Detroit and lets go already, stop canceling my weekend matches also i love this guy
