Nice! Hopefully it's a fun event. Too bad they couldn't get some guys that actually wrestled on RAW a few times to show up. I mean what's Koko B Ware, Bob Backlund, Tatanka or Tito Santana up to these days?

What did everyone think of 'Old School' RAW? Personally I thought it was well done, especially with the old RAW set, old banners, ring ropes, turnbuckle pads etc. I like old school the interviews during the matches and how the start of the matches were set up camera wise like it was back in the day.

The only thing I didn't really like was the 'legends' that appeared. We've seen them before, numerous times to boot. Why should I care about seeing Sgt. Slaughter, Snuka or The Iron Sheik again. It would have been cooler if they brought back some guys we haven't seen in awhile. I mean how great would it have been if Lex Luger or Randy Savage? The crowd would have went crazy. Even someone like Booker T. would have been nice. Oh well.

I caught just a couple minutes of it while watching MNF. Strangely enough, the bar I was in apparently is where all the TNA wrestlers go after the tapings, so I saw Rhino, Robbie E, Shannon Moore, Robert Roode, Eric Young, Abyss, and Earl and Brian Hebner all watching football while checking out RAW as well. Tommy Dreamer stopped in for a few minutes as well.

Overall it was a great show to be at because we got a little from everything smackdown/raw/legends. They didn't show the traditional promos during the start of the match as seen on tv. I also liked the "old school" layout as finkle mentioned. How were they all the sudden cool with using the old WWF logo? They blur that thing out of all their old footage, even the turnbuckles get blurred out in their vault footage. Randy went on to RKO Wade Barrett after the cameras went off. Daniel Bryan and Jack Swagger(a nice surprise seeing how he was from Smackdown) got the boring chant mid-way through their match. I'm assuming there was a commercial break in there somewhere. Where the sirens blaring a thing of the old raw? Because they were awfully annoying at the start. Every time Cena's face was shown on the big screen it got a little pop leading to him coming out. The lady next to me was calling Barrett a jackass(screaming) when he was telling Cena to switch shirts. The ending was really good live, not sure how it looked for the at home viewers. It was fun.

The old WWF block letter logos are fine for them to legally use. The WWF Attitude logo is the one that has to be blurred out because they started using that logo after their agreement with the other WWF (World Wildlife animal group) was over and when the animal group sued them they only mentioned the attitude logo. It is weird that they could use one but not the other, go figure.

Its tough because most of those guys are from the 80's. Which means they weren't really too integral when Raw first launched. The old school Raw set and opening and all that was great, but unless you can get guys who were ON Raw in that era...it makes it kind of tough. Would it have been the worst thing ever to have Razor Ramon, Doink, 1-2-3 Kid, Berzerker, Bret Hart, HBK and the others from that first Raw era to make an appearance? Some of the "new school," old guys would have been fun to see as opposed to the road agents that we see more often than we should as it is.

Having said that, seeing Tatonka was great (because he does fit into that era I mentioned above) and having Jim Ross come out was much appreciated by me. Overall, a nice one off event. If they do something like this again, I would love to see some newer old guys. Headbangers, for example, would have been fun to see. As would Mideon, Bradshaw, and anyone else that actually wrestle don Raw from time to time and aren't under contract elsewhere.

Tatonka is on roids. I am almost positive of it. He has the same midsection deformity that long time users like Test had. Combined with his age and his muscle mass, I would be shocked if he was "natural."

I bet it's a repeat of the Bret Hart/Undertaker Summer Slam '97 match with HBK as the ref. I bet Barrett keeps pushing Cena around throughout the match and at some point grabs a chair and is ready to hit Orton, Cena grabs it from him, Barrett slaps Cena and Cena goes to hit him with it Barrett ducks and it hits Orton and Cena is forced to count to 3 giving Barrett the title. Cena then faces Barrett at Royal Rumble, beats him for the title, Orton wins the Rumble and there's your WM match. Something along those lines is how it's going to happen. There's no way Barrett doesn't win the title without Cena helping him by mistake somehow.

Yeah Cena is definitely going to be involved with the decision either way. I don't see how he gets 'fired'. Unless he's working on a new movie and needs a movie or two off, then he could come back in time for the Rumble.

Barrett wins either clean or by a mistake from Cena. Cena beats Barrett down. The Miz cashes in the money in the bank and becomes champion.

Fairly bland SS. Nice to see the continued push of Daniel Bryan. And now it looks like the WWE is back in John Morrison's corner, which is nice to see. I'm shocked he beat Shamus, who's really struggling to catch on in my opinion. I still can't believe Kane is the champion, but I guess it's only a matter of time before Edge beats him. Somewhat surprised the WWE didn't put the title on Barrett tonight, I guess Cena is filming a new movie now. Hopefully when he comes back he'll be repacked a bit, no more jean shorts etc.

I wonder if the WWE is thinking about Orton vs. The Miz for WM. Those two are the hottest draws right now but Mania is still far away.

I didn't look at any of your posts but the lights keep going out as I'm watching it right now. So I'm assuming that the lights go out during THE match and we have a new champion.

EDIT: I was way off...Cena walked right by Jared Odrick at the end when he went into the stands.

I thought for the most part all the matches were really solid, except for the Kane vs Edge match. It will be cena vs barrett at WM. I think the miz will take the title away from Orton via the MIB in one of the up coming ppvs. Miz will then lose to Barrett eventually leading to Cena's return right before wrestlemania.

When I was in high school, I used to be able to predict these PPVs with major accuracy. I predicted the Ultimate Warrior's return among others Every PPV, I would make several predictions, and most of them happened just like I called. Some of my friends swore I knew someone in the business. Now, I suck. lol

If you're talking about the Ultimate Warrior's WM8 return then I'm impressed because that was just so out of left field that no one expected that one and it was one of the best surprises ever. You should have used those talents to pick horses instead.

No kidding. lol I don't remember which PPV it was, but its when he showed up out of nowhere and disrupted a match. Can't remember who was wrestling though. It was not Hogan. I do remember he showed up with shorter hair, and had lost weight. His face and chest paint was greenish.

Haha wow. Yeah you're way off. It was WM8 at the end of the Hogan/Sid match. Papa Shango did a run in and Warrior made the save. He did have short hair, no chest paint. His face paint was blue/purpleish from what I remember and his hair was more blonde.

King of the Ring is back, that's pretty cool even if it is only on RAW. I know as a stand alone PPV it didn't draw much but I still think it should be used as one. It's not like a random non big 4 PPV really draws well anymore.

Ok really John Cena is wearing knee pads for his goodbye speech? Unless he wrestles later on in the night, what's the point? Why can't he show up in street clothes? I know I'm nitpicking but it just looks dumb.

Also Jackson shouldn't be smiling or shaking hands with fans, even if he's a face. He should be treated like the black Goldberg and just plow through guys.

My money is on Sheamus winning the KotR, even without knowing the rest of the field. He looks bigger too. Maybe he's being trained by Triple H now.

  29. Samphin

Couple of things, Warrior was indeed wearing purple garb. And Hogan kept twirling his finger next to his own skull in the universal motion that "he is crazy." And Warrior responded by beating the crap out of his own chest...pretty much confirming the kayfabe motion by Hogan.

As for the King of the Ring, if Alberto Del Rio doesn't win it...then the WWE is messing up big time. The four that qualified tonight are perfect for the tournament. From Smackdown, I would love to see Del Rio, Swagger, Kofi and McIntire. Although the Scotsman seems to be somewhat de-pushed right now and I am sure Rey-Rey will make it in.

But a finals of Del Rio versus say...Bryan Danielson with Del Rio winning would be great. Especially since Del Rio's storyline of coming from royalty fits in perfectly already. I would also have Sheamus lose to Bryan Danielson, although I am sure he will go up againt Morrison again. But in my world, Sheamus loses then exacts revenge against Bryan in the finals forcing the issue for these two. Sheamus wins the U.S. title, gets himself a custom belt and re-names it the "Irish" title. The heat would most likely be huge, and I think you can milk that program for a month or two and finally have HHH make an appearance which distracts Sheamus long enough for Bryan to win the title back with a rollup. Sheamus goes beserk, but realizes that HHH is back so he has to address that first, HHH hits the ring, beats the poo out of Sheamus and voila...Wrestlemania is here.

Not a bad RAW. Glad Miz finally won the belt, hopefully he continues to improve and keeps the belt until WM.

I guess the WWE's rehiring of Cena will be requested by Barrett since Cena cost him the belt and thus would be the only way for Barrett to get his revenge. I still say Cena should take time off and come back repacked with new gear/music etc.

Very solid raw...Like i said earlier today that the Miz would get the belt from Orton with the MIB. Also I still believe The Miz is a transitional champion so they can get the belt to Barrett without Orton losing to him. Which would give us Barrett vs Cena at Mania. Someone needs to make a gif of the little girl at the end. That really cracked me up.

  33. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

That little girl had me on the floor with laughter. THAT is essentially what wrestling is about. Being able to illicit a very real emotion out of someone based on what you are seeing in the ring.

Not sure about Miz winning the title. Mainly because of how he won it. Typically, when someone cashes in the MITB, the champion is down and pinned quickly, which is a weasily way to become champion and thus, adds to the heat when it is a heel. Miz actually stood toe to toe for a few minutes and won cleanly. Yes, Orton was injured prior and yes he had a match, butMiz still let him get up and didn't attack right away. Just an odd way for a heel to act.

Having said that, if Miz starts winning matches clean or with minimal interference from Riley, it will build to a face coming back and setting the house on fire when they eventually take it from him.

As for the others, Raw has really positioned itself nicely with the young talent infusion. Sheamus, Morrison, Bryan, Miz, Barrett and a few others are the future of this brand and all are worthy imo. That doesn't even take into account Cena, Orton, Punk and HHH whenever he comes back. It makes me ownder what is going to happen to the Nexus boys once Barrett drops them (and he will). Hennig, Harris, Slater, and the South African guy have potential as individual talents or tag teams, but I don't see a whole lot for the rest...

Come to think of it, with Del Rio, Kingston, Swagger and Kaval...Smackdown has some quality upper midcard talent themselves. I would love to see Evan Bourne go to Smackdown once he recovers and Christian is always a boon for that brand, even if he is older now and somewhat a victim of politics.

Raw has been good the last few weeks and next week with the KotR, chances are it will continue.

I hope not. The Miz is probably the hottest act outside of Orton and Cena right now. He needs a long run with the belt. I think the Barrett/Cena match up is going to happen well before WM. I can't see how they're going to keep those 2 apart until then.

Yeah it's taken awhile but the youth movement is starting to really pan out. I'm glad the WWE seems really behind the pushes of Bryan and Morrison now. Hopefully that will continue along with Barrett, The Miz etc. Obviously the movement hasn't happened as quickly as the Attitude movement but they do have some legit future stars. It's just a shame that a lot of guys are going to be wasted (like MVP and I'm afraid Kofi too) due to the large number of guys on the roster. It will be extremely interesting to see the annual post WM roster cuts as the WWE can really cut a lot of the dead weight older guys now.

  36. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

They had a mini purge about a week ago. Cutting people like Caylen Croft, Lance Hoyt, Luke Gallows, and a couple of other guys and girls that simply were doing nothing. Some creative members as well.

I would imagine that all of the old guys are safe at this point. Outside of Mysterio, Taker, HHH and Kane, they don't really have too many old guys. I suppose you could throw Edge and Christian into that mix, but they are still "young" by wrestling standards.

Yeah I guess they could still dump Goldust, Mark Henry, William Regal (who I think might retire soon anyway), and I really think they could dump both Kane and The Big Show and be fine but obviously they won't.

I do think Ted DiBiase is going to be lost in the youth movement as well, at least for awhile anyway.

  40. Samphin

Goldust could easily transition into a road agent if need be. It is hard to believe that Mark Henry has been around as long as he has, but yes, his usefullness seems to be waning. I would say the same for MVP as he is much older than people realize and probably wouldn't be missed by many in the grand scheme of things. Regal pretty much admitted that he is close to retiring so that wouldn't surprise me. Good call on those names. The fact that I didn't even remember them when talking about veterans, is probably a good indicator of how much impact they have on today's product.
