Let's face it, Sparano isn't a good coach. Would of served him right to fire the worst OC in the league, but they don't call him Morono for nothing. So that poses this question, who will be our next coach, realistically. The first real option is Bill Cowher. There was talk about him possibly joining the Giants or Browns after this season. I think Mangini keeps his job. I think Coughlin keeps his job also. He would be #1 on my list. The second real option is Jon Gruden. Really like what he did in Oakland. A lot of people feel he's overrated because he did what Tony Dungy couldn't do and won a SB in Tampa Bay with Dungy's players on defense. I like Gruden though. Watching him on ESPN, he seems to have a real passion for the game. Another option I like is Mike Martz. He knows how to use a gunslinger, unlike the idiots running the team right now. He also knows how to dial up screens, and use RB's in the passing game, unlike the idiots currently running the team. He has a 53-32 record as a headcoach. Jim Harbaugh is one I really like also. Some other guys to mention. Rob Ryan. Has been doing a real nice job with the Browns defense. I personally wouldn't hire him as I really like Nolan, and think we need an offense oriented guy. Also a guy with experience, as I don't think I can handle another noob. Perry Fewell would fall under there as well. There's Brian Billick. He wouldn't be a bad choice imo. There's Jim Haslett. Not sure about him. There's Steve Mariucci. I'd pass on him. There's Jason Garrett. A lot of talk that Jerry Jones might look to sign a big name head coach. Another choice is Mike Holmgren who has supposedly expressed interest in returning to coaching. He certainly fits the bill for an experienced guy. Last but not least Tony Dungy might be an option though I'm not much of a fan. Another guy that interests me, not as a headcoach, but as an OC, is Mike Leach. Often though of as a Mike Martz clone. Could very well bring us a high powered offense. My personal top 4 for a headcoach would be Harbaugh, Cowher, Gruden, and Martz in that order. What say you?
I would love to see Rob Ryan come to Miami. No joke. That would make this rivalry best in NFL history.
I don't give a **** who our next head coach is... I'd let anyone on this board do it, if Henning was gone.
And this fanbase will wait 15 years for 2 SB appearances, 1 SB win, 3 OR 4 AFC Championship game losses at home. Pull out the SB season and tell me how special he is. He does wear his emotions on his sleeve so we would be keeping Thigpen. Group hug to the fans when things go bad. Mike Martz. He has a 53-32 record as a headcoach. Unstoppable ego loses a superbowl that was thiers to take Rob Ryan. Can't beat his brother. I can't stomach losing to the Jets Brian Billick Offensive Genius with Moss/Culpepper. Remind me of the Baltimore offensive juggernaut?i Jim Haslett Retread Steve Mariucci Why hasn't he coached in forever? Jason Garrett He ain't leaving and he can stay Mike Holmgren Tuna 2 and he ain't coaching
they'll be competitive year in and year out. classic smashmouth football, not a one and done, but suit yourself. i'll take anything coming out of pittsburgh or new england, let's put it that way.
Seriously, there are a couple of names on your list that are nothing more than retreads. Hiring Mike Martz would be akin to hiring Norv Turner. Great offensive coordinator but very bad head coach. I like John Gruden, but he may be a little too enamored with the dual threat quarterback right now for my taste. Honestly though, if we are going to get a new head coach, we need to get a new GM as well. We need a GM that will not blow high round picks and will not give up two 2nd round picks for a stinking diva receiver.
Chucky Gruden. Sparano and Henning totally lost my vote of confidence tonight. You have a inexperienced QB in there and they decide to totally abandon the running game. Makes sense. I think we got 10? 15 yards rushing? Unreal.
Haven't seen it used on this board nearly as much as the other board. But most people not in denial are starting to catch on.
I started a thread about two months ago, saying that Bill Cowher could be looking over Sparano's shoulder, and was laughed off the board. Now I see his name mentioned about 5 times a day as being wanted as the next Dolphins HC. My my my......how fickle some folks are.
Jim Harbaugh is younger, was succesful in the nfl as a QB, knows offense, can be the "pennington" on the sideline for henne, without breathing down his neck for playing time. Bring in a OC that has the same mentality, and keep nolan as DC....and let irish run the personnel, id like it. id really like it.
Sick how much influence do you think Sparano has over the personnel decisions now that Ireland is full powered GM ? Do you think they maybe clash ? Does Irish have the power to force Sparano out himself, or does that have to come from Ross alone ?
hey, at least we found out early on that our season is all but over...you guys are being set up for a huge fall.
Whatever floats your boat. No more homering it up for me. It's becoming obvious to most this coaching staff won't get it done.
I would honestly hope irish let the head coach have a say in who he has to coach. And with them both being parcells guys, and parcells had the famous line "if you want me to cook, let me pick out the grocieries" id think they all accept input. All in all, i know irish has the power to remove sparano if he wanted. but will he? Will he hold sparano accountable for his horrible performances the same way they cut guys like martin, grove, thomas, jason allen etc etc without hesitation? if not...then they are 2 face. And i dont want them running this orginization
I never said I agree with the coaching staff. And homering it up? How about you actually present an argument with substance. Like I said take up chess, it'll probably help you cry less.
lol at anyone who wants gruden. yeah lets dismantle our defense again so we can go back to playing the 4-3. classic
Let's Interview Rob Ryan for Head Coach and get a Family Feud going. I would like Sparano to stay, but if anything why the **** not.
Gloria Estefan would be my choice. At least she would run the ball more than 7 times. We can keep Sparano for another year, but we need to get rid of Henning.
