You're last statement is one of absolute truth. I also agree with maybe needing a new direction with a head coach. His failure starts with the O-Line his specialty. I'm not talking about tonight, but it was this off-season. Why do you **** around with the 4th best O-Line in the game ? WHY ? It was your bread and butter if you want your offense to be a run oriented team, then you leave well enough alone, and you don't get rid of players that played well for you last year. Sparano overplayed his hand, and his arrogance got in his way with his O-Line. He thinks he knows better than anyone else. No humility at all.

No. Thigpen just sucked. the team we played this week was ready for all thigpen had to offer and they clearly knew it wasn't very much.

Embarrassing perhaps, surprising? Not at all. And I'll take it easy on him as soon as he starts taking it easy on my team.

Marshall just sucked. Marshall should have made life easier on Thigpen. Thigpen is a third quarterback who had to start on a short week. He has little to no reps. Practice is important in the NFL. This was a game where the line (injured) and his receivers had to bail him out. The only receiver that showed up today was Hartline. Bess was probably blanketed, due to the fact that Marshall SUCKED!!

Once this team proves it can play and wants to win then we can take it easy on them.

How many teams can do that with their third quarterback on a Thursday night game?

You realize that Sparano is the Head Coach & not the GM, don't you? Normally it's the HC who wants to keep all of his veterans and players who can help right now, and its the GM who's adding projects, cutting costs, and building for the future. I haven't seen or heard anything that would lead me to believe any different about this team, but if you have some inside info, please share.

To answer your question, we cut Grove because he was injured, and he made about 10 times more than his backup. We traded Smiley b/c he was injured, and he made about 7 times more than his replacement. We cut Thomas b/c he was beaten out for his position, and he didn't have the positional flexibility of a guy like Procter or McQuistan. You don't have to "knows better than anyone else" to figure that out. Grove and Thomas are still unemployed, while Smiley making 3 million to sit on the bench in Jacksonville. I'm just sayin'.

We may have lost some effectiveness with the moves, but cutting those aging/injury prone guys during the capless year saved a bunch of money. Some of which we can use to sign some playmakers/pass rushers/cover guys this offseason. Its chess, not checkers.

Not to excuse his stupidity but Marshall should not have been on the field. The hamstring was injured Sunday. Three days rest? This was just a bad deal.

I'm pretty sure Sparano, being an old O-Line coach, has complete control over that section of the team. That is his baby, and he has royally ****ed it up.

GMJohnson, You see that I don't find fault in the players and staff for the performance given the circumstance. The powerlifting is something that's raising my brow. It seems that this team needs to cut it down or they will need forever to find the men with the joints to withstand their program. These injuries are not new.

Start kicking people, hit to injure, play with fury, with fire. This team has neither, Marshall is like a boiling pot of water right now and you can see it in these penaties but he seems to be the only person playing like hes pissed. Football is a game of momentum, emotion, adrenaline. These guys came out in the 2nd half like they are there to collect a check and call it a night. Tired or not, your a man playing a mans game and your getting slapped around... you just going to take it?

    So you're just assuming? Gotcha.

And none of the guys we got rid of are doing anything, anywhere. So it's a bit of a stretch to assume that we'd be running for 150 yds/game if only we had kept them. IMO, the offensive player we're missing most right now is Teddy. Never thought I'd say that, but I think it's true.

Interesting point. I've heard stories about the intensity of it, but no specifics, and nothing to compare it to. You have any details? This is the 2nd year in a row with the OL falling apart around November, kinda strange.

LOL I said "most". As in missing him more than Grove, Thomas, Smiley & Camarillo. Teddy stretches the field, which is what our offense completely lacks. Teddy might suck as a main target, but as a complimentary piece, he'd have made a difference. Finding some speed should be priority one this off season.

How does getting stupid penalties show that you want to win? And hitting to injure is lame, for real. Our defense played hard all night long, even after it was obvious that we were going to lose.

Offensively, we were in a bad match up. Thigpen sucks at finding holes in coverages and throwing in rhythm. He needs to break contain and improvise to be effective, and that's much easier to do against teams who play man coverage. Add in Jake's one arm, Procter going down, Marshall going out, we really had no chance. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap and admit that the other team was better. All the fire and fury in the world wasn't going to make a difference tonight. it was about talent, not effort.

Parcells is one of the last holdouts still relying upon powerlifting and I do not know if it's a good idea for MEN. I have no issue with it for high school or college but the guys the Dolphins will get all have damage somewhere. There is no way to escape high school and college injury free. Anyway, powerlifting is made up of 5 core lifts - dead lifts, squats, power cleans and two other I'm not attempting to remember while typing on this phone. The complaint I have heard from former professionals is that it shortened their careers by weakening their joints. See Jake Grove.......

I hated doing cleans with a passion when I played, UGH. And squats are why I'm 5'10" instead of 6'4". Dead lifts are just boring. Jake Grove was damaged goods when he got here, so was Smiley. I'm just saying.

Now the upside to Powerlifting is that it is exactly what it says it is - Power. It is the reason why Jason Taylor went from a scrawny dancer to a bulked up mass in a matter of months. Parcells secret to his success? Bludgeon you to death. The problem with that is he suffers a few casualties of his own along the way.

Now imagine this... You have joint damage in 1986. Are you getting an MRI from an NFL team? No... But today folks are getting MRI's weekly looking at the same damage progress.

Grove, Smiley.... They are ALL damaged goods. It's now just a matter of to what extent a trainer will allow them to play. Freaking high school coaches are now bossed around by the trainer. The trainer decides who plays and who does not play. And the fear of lawsuit is on the mind of both (trainer and coach) if they screw up.

Don't get me wrong... I loved it when they brought powerlifting back to the Dolphins. I'm just looking at consecutive years of injury plagued seasons and thinking maybe the professionals against powerlifting are on to something. Maybe they are not just a bunch of whiners afterall...

this is one of the dowsnides of a parcells team. his powerlifting program definitely shortens careers. its beneficial for short term results howver. you will always have the stronger tougher team

We lost a game against an NFC opponent! IF we get Henne back and win out we have a shot... Thigpen was so bad I think the Dolphins should release him! Ramsey, if no Henne, anyone else but Thigpen! THIGPEN SUCKS!

Sparano should stay, grow his balls back and get a new OC....

The problem wasn't Thigpen. He was always picking the ball off the ground. As soon as he stood up there were three Bears players in his face. Good thing he was mobile enough to escape some of those. Henne would have been sacked 12 times.

The whole game plan sucked. You have a new QB who hasn't received any snaps going against the 4th best defense in the NFL. Why didn't we max protect him like we do Henne? Or at least TY to run the ball? Henning must be home packing his bags now. If not Tony needs to go.

Actually Peter King had a pretty good explanation for it this morning. After his radio co-host says he is surprised about the amount of rushing attempts with "their best players" referencing Ricky and Ronnie, Peter King says "I disagree". His next statement was profound (at least to me). Peter King states that the Dolphins best players are Marshall and Bess. Then King went down the play list in the gamebook which read - pass short, pass short, pass short. He said with the condition of the offensive line the Phins knew that they were going to have a difficult time running against the Bears. So the attempt was originally to loosen up the defense. He said, "Thigpen just could not get it going."

The last part I disagree with because it was the freaking receivers couldn't get it going in the first quarter. But the gameplan never changed. It was to loosen the defense with the short passing game to enable the run. And it all makes sense if you believe that Bess and Marshall are our best players..........and with history as a reference, I do believe that Marshall and Bess are our best players on offense.

You made 2 mistakes in your post. #1 carey sucks and I don't want to see him on this team next year. #2 fields isn't one of the best punters in nfl, far from it.

Thigpen looked terrible last nite but its not all on him. Oline was horrendous. I k ow they have injuries but I think they needed to draft a center and right tackle in the last few yrs. Jets did it right by drafting mangold and fergeson in same draft. With a poor oline, team will look worse than they reallly are. And jake needs to give up on season and get his surgery done. He was blocking with 1 arm last nite. A fully healthy jake, peppers doesn't smell a sack.

its easier for our fanbase to just say henning sucks. this allows them to believe that we are a better team then we are and its only one person holding us back. if we just got rid of henning rainbows would appear and touchdowns would materialize

i think this needs to be the focus of our free agency next year. i'm not sure drafting linemen would help us out next year as it usually takes them two or three years to develop. we need instant help. we need linemen who can run block. until we get our offensive line fixed we will wallow in the mud offensively. and i'm not talking about our current mash unit. i'm talking about the line befoire it got injured
