So since the Eagles have two good qb's I really don't think they will be paying both of them next year. I know its not up to us but just a thought on what you think about targeting the one they don't keep, likely to be kolb at this point which i would rather have over vick. This may be looking into the future but assuming our qb issue doesn't solve itself, i like the idea and i think its pretty cool to think about... just some thoughts. Those of you who are sold on henne some how and are gonna come onto this thread and say we have henne and tell me that im stupid for saying this... its all opinion based and i dont give a muthaf*** about your "we have henne you idiot" comments because your wrong so dont waste your time. Sparano benching henne obviously showed that they didn't think he was the man for the job right now and i don't see that changing much.
So, we're wrong if we think Henne is the man for the job, even though he was benched. Yet you want to bring in Kolb, who was also benched. Everybody funny, now you funny too.
First, chill dude. You come here asking for opinions and then you get all brash about it. Not a good way to go about it. Secondly, I want neither. I fully believe Vick deserved the second chance that he got with Philly, and hopefully it changed him. With that said, I do not want him on this team. As for Kolb, I don't know how good he really is and I don't think he will fit our system. I will forever be weary about QB's coming out of Andy Reid's offense, and Kolb is just as much of a question mark as Henne.
no your wrong for thinking im wrong... and kolb was not benched, he got hurt and vick stepped in and is now playing outstanding football.. too good to put kolb back in.
So when did you see Kolb play so well that you would be willing to give 2 second round picks for him? That will be the price.....
i didnt mean for it to sound like i was getting brash so sorry for that... i just feel like our threads on henne are all of us criticizing one another because we have different opinions about henne and thats not what i wanted this thread to be. I think vick would be an enormous threat in our offense with our speed at receiver and dominance wth marshall... and on top of that our offensive line is stellar at pass protection (i was laughing as i counted seconds henne had in the pocket last weekend against a 4 man rush) and if vick gets that much time, its game over. as for kolb, its somewhat an opinion as well but honestly i like him alot, especially his deep ball.
Oh Vick is definitely at a whole different level then he used to be. However I personally don't want him on this team, because of what he did. As far as Kolb I want more than the deep ball. In my opinion in that offense and with those receivers its very easy to throw the deep ball. I want to know how well he can dissect a defense.
in the 4 games kolb played, he avgd around a 95 passer rating and 6 td 4 int... one or two of those game were without desean jackson.. sounds pretty good to me.
What's the difference? Same circumstance. Henne was playing, then got benched because we thought Pennington was a better option. Kolb was the starter, then benched because Vick was the better option.
Its completely different, benching henne for pennington is not the same as benching kolb for vick right now. A qb as good as matt ryan or e. manning would probably get benched for vick with how well he is playing. henne vs penny was merely a tallest midget contest.
I'm not even worried about it. This regime isn't giving two wooden nickels for Kolb. They are not done with Henne.
Kolb was not benched. What’s with the misinformation around here? Kolb started week 1. He was concussed and had to come out. Vick came in and played great. Vick started week 2, and he was great then as well, basically stealing the starting job from Kolb. Vick started until he was injured against the Redskins. Kolb came back in and looked shaky that game and the week after. Then he took off and looked like the QB he was supposed to be. Despite that, Vick regained the starting job when his injury healed. The result of this situation is that Kolb has been penciled in as the 2011 starter and Vick will supposedly be allowed to walk in free agency. But after the way Vick has played this year, I just don’t see how that’s possible. I can see the Eagles retaining Vick and trading Kolb to a team like the Panthers.
So you want to get rid of a guy that you have inconclusive information about to give up draft picks for another player that has provided inconvclusive information It's not smart and it's the type of move that gets people fired more often than not.
So coming in to the season Kevin Kolb is the starter. He gets hurt and Vick fills in for a few weeks until Vick gets hurt. Kolb the original starter gets his job back, and has it taken away when Vick is healthy. Sounds like a benching to me.
It’s not a benching. Benching occurs when a player is not achieving a certain level of results. While Kolb hasn’t been as good as Vick, he’s still had some great games and has looked somewhat reminiscent of Aaron Rodgers’ first season starting, 2008. Vick is just playing better, but we would never have known this if not for an injury. Kolb did not lose his job because of personal inability. He lost it because of temporary circumstance.
Yes, let's deal with a value that we know for certain is a value. 2009 Ford F250 4x4 Powestroke Diesel 38000 miles Automatic, Leather $31000
first, i never said get rid of henne, i do like some things he has to offer but in this league in order to win on the big stage you cant like only SOME things about your qb... in other words, more likely than not, alot more likely than not, without an elite and consistent qb everything that is worked for in a season is just about lost... and if after seeing hennes performance he obviously wont lead us to the super bowl and if your telling yourself "man i really hope henne progresses for the future" rather than "man i really hope henne can take us to the super bowl and if not well try someone else" then your in the wrong place because i think i speak for all of when i say im starving to see a dolphins super bowl win considering im 19. so if henne doesnt show these signs then someone else needs the chance hence kolb possibly. second, you keep bringing up this giving up draft picks for kolb which isnt necessarily true depending on what the eagles do with his contract. giving up draft picks would happen no matter who is targeted and there wont be much to be targeted.
Now if you are shopping for an F250 it means you want to pull something. I have not found any better value than this: 2006 Fountain 33' Sportfish Twin 275 Mercury with 250 hours $95,000
But I'm not too sure the Ford will be safe pulling the Fountain. The maximum towing capacity of the F250 is 12500. I've read that the Fountain weighs 12900 dry.
At this point in his career, Kolb is a better quarterback than Henne, IMO. I watch a lot of Eagles fan being the guy I go to the bar with is an Eagles fan so I've seen plenty of him... The line is very narrow between the two, but that's just IMO. I would give up a 3rd or maybe a 4th round pick to let Henne and Kolb (maybe Thigpen too, if he looks good with his opportunity now) duke it out in training camp.
I wouldn't discount the Eagles paying both of them, at least for one more year. Vick's style is always going to lead to an increased injury risk and they've already seen this year that you need a capable backup on hand as he is very unlikely to play all 16 games. Kolb could backup Vick much like Schaub did in Atlanta, at least until the Eagles can develop another young QB first, so i'd say its more likely Kolb gets traded another year on from now. That also gives Vick more time to prove he can do this consistently.
worst thread of the month. what has Kolb showed that's any better than Henne? Kolb is a very QB-friendly system, one of the best in the league, IMO. completely absurd to think he's going to outperform Henne.
I take exception to that Ohio. I think I found some extremely good values. I fully expect someone to ask where they could find the truck or the boat.
The will and can pay both. Kolb's contract is front loaded for this year, his contract next year is very reasonable, they will sign Vick for what Kolb made this year.
Imma let you finish... but, Kevin Kolb is the best starting-QB-to-have-started-6-games-and-then-get-benched ever.
They only have to pay Kolb like 1.5 Million next year. They gave him bonus money this year after they traded away McNabb. This years salaries for the Eagle's Qb's are approximately 11 million for Kolb and 5 million for Vick. As I said before, next year Kolb makes only 1.5 million. That gives the Eagles ~15mil for Vick's new contract for a break even point. This is approximately where the franchise tag sits for QB (if a franchise tag exists after a new CBA that is.) A 1.5million dollar insurance policy for a running QB, who takes his knocks is well worth it for the Eagles. I doubt Kolb leaves the Eagles for less than a 2nd rounder (more likely a 1st) unless he starts demanding a trade and is no longer a good solider. But that may hurt his status as a franchise QB more than waiting a year.
I honestly think Vick is never going to keep this level of performance up. He was never consistent and you'll see him implode against some tough defenses when the stakes are raised. Would'nt want him regardless. He's one of the bigger douchebags in the league. You can have him. If Philly is smart they will keep Kolb. He has shown flashes of potential to be a very good QB. Like Henne he needs more time to develop. If Philly keeps only a wildcard like Vick and gets rid of a good young QB they deserve the implosion that will follow. If they don't keep him the price will be too high for us to give up IMO. Yes he's shown talent and potential but so has Henne. We'd end up paying an inflated price and we have too many holes still on this roster to do that.
Well, let's add up the factors: -Kolb has been in Philly for 4 seasons, he has started..4 games.. -Philly reportedly wants a #1 and #3 for Kolb -Philly has far more weapons on offense and Kolb still was wildly erratic, he was sat early in the yr for a reason. Henne -3 yrs 20 starts -Paid for, Henne costs no additional draft picks -Average STARTER, that is a huge difference, Henne has 21 Starts and a 11-10 record, the training wheels are off of Henne, with Kolb..who knows? -Wildly different offenses, which should be the AJ Feeley lesson, do not try to take a WCO Qb and stick him in a different style of offense or you may wind up with egg on your face. All in all, I'd prefer to draft or sign a Tight End and take my lumps with Chad Henne than deal for Kolb.
Six TDs in one game is irregular—even the great Al Bundy only had four touchdowns in his greatest game—but I don’t think it’s out of the question for Vick to continue to be a top eight QB for the next couple of years. It all depends on which team he goes to and what offense he’s asked to command. Yeah. A concussion.
