Just wanted to OFfICIALLY go on record to state that many of us this preseason were against Pennington starting over Henne in those many debates by Shou primarily because of Pennington's frailness. ONE play people. Hard to argue the point now. He was not hit very hard, just like last season. Hate being right about this given the end result
Mere Illeterati. I am being falsely accused, more or less neutral on Henne, thought the move to Pennington was a good one, also thought if Henne had more weapons he would be a better Qb. Doesn't matter now though, say whatever I may say, Tyler Thigpen is our Qb. The King(s) are dead, long live the King!@
You kidding.....remember Deberg getting hurt.....and went into the locker room....then he runs out of the tunnel....crowd goes crazy...and he runs right out onto the field.....it was awsome!!!
seriously, you honestly don't understand what the impact of losing someone as important as Long could be...all that matters is that we won today? This could severely ****** Thigpen's development as a starter for this team...
So you want a loss to have Jake Long back? Injuries happen all the time to every team whether you win or lose. The most important thing that happened today is that we won. The most unfortunate thing about today is that the win came with a price. You are comparing something you can control over something you can't. It's a bad argument.
Would Long be lost for the knee injury the shoulder injury or whatever they feel like throwing against the wall this week? And keep in mind, Sparano's life raft is preparing Olinemen, that is why they stockpile them. If Sparano is to be held to account for being a bad coach, typically every thing fails a bad coach, their expertise fails them. Recall Nate Garner?
I do know that with Long we sure have a better chance of producing output on offense then w/out him, therefore giving us a better chance to win games...
McQuistan, Murtha, or Carey? I would hate to move Carey out of the RT spot. Either way it's going to be a double team practically every play.
This argument is silly. Yes, you can enjoy the win AND still be concerned about the injuries. Hell, the win probably is more remarkable considering the injuries we had during the win. Long term for this season, it sure looks like we are in for some dark days. Down to a third string QB and no one of any merit behind him or available to bring in. This Bears game on Thursday night all of a sudden looks like a pretty tough hill to climb.
That is pretty damn obvious man. I'm not sure I've seen anyone argue that but injuries happen. To insert won vs. loss in that discussion is pointless.
actually you inserted the won/loss discussion, I was merely agreeing with a previous poster, that even though we won today, we SHOULD still worry about key injuries for future reference...and losing key players will affect our record moving forward. You can't just slide certain pieces into the puzzle and expect them to always be just as good as the original and expect to win...pretty damn obvious huh
Honestly it doesnt matter who we bring in. Thigpen is our last best chance to salvage this season. If he falters or gets injured, you can stick a fork in this season. As it is, Im kind of excited to see what he has to offer. You have to admit, hes not a bad #3 QB.
He's not a bad #2, as a matter of fact I believe he could start currently for several teams in the league. I'm hoping for the best. I would have liked to have had, and felt more comfortable with Henne all the way through, but it is what it is...Here's to Thigpen, lead us to victory!
yeah the results will be known in the morning. i have a hard time believing he will play thursday but i wouldnt rule out two weeks from now just yet. maybe we get lucky
Not that I'm looking for a QB to take over and be the ext heir apparent to Marino, but seeing how we are going to need an additional QB in case Thigpen goes down (or just plain implodes), what about Jeff Garcia? I know he's playing in the UFL and SHOULD be available this month. As I recall, he filled in for McNabb in Philadelphia and from what I recall, did pretty well. Thoughts?
how forget? with him we won the dallas game in the snow if I am not mistaken, LOL (thanks to Leon Lett! ) as a back up I would be just curious to see how Russel would deal with Sparano and his hard-working mantra... no first draft choice privilege, here in Miami... maybe we could find our Franchise QB just joking anyway, all in all, we lost 2 qbs in one game....not very good for our goood pass blocking OL....considering we cannot run.....
Schefter reckons we're trying out several QBs this week including former Fresno States Tom Brandstater.
