    good read

Among players the Dolphins brought in for visits, Penn State's Dan Connor lacks ideal bulk at 231 pounds but played well at inside linebacker as a senior. And Mayock says Auburn's Quentin Groves would make sense at No. 32 -- the Dolphins like his potential as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, though Kiper calls him more of a mid-to-late second rounder. (Miami also picks at No. 57.)

Two draft analysts ( Mike Mayock, John Murphy) cite Purdue linebacker Cliff Avril as a good option at No. 32, though the Dolphins never brought him to Davie and some analysts believe he shouldn't go that high. Miami also never brought in Oklahoma's Curtis Lofton, who's a bit shorter (6-0) than this regime's prototype linebacker.

Pick #32 is the one I'm really excited about, it's such a great value pick this year. IMO we could end up with any one of ten potential first round players. I would think with the signing of Jake Long, Quentin Groves becomes the front runner if he is available, but of course that's a big IF. Part of me is expecting #32 to be Chad Henne.

Id be shocked if we didn't go defense with that 32nd pick. However I too, like phinfanuk... have a feeling if Henne is there, Miami may be picking him.

I know we need Defense but If Limas Sweed Falls I am really hoping we draft him.

I like John Beck and his potential, but I trust Bill Parcell's judgement when it comes to quarterbacks, because he has been around a lot of good ones. If he thinks Chad Henne can be the guy then I'd fully support the pick, the same goes for Joe Flacco too. My personal opinions on any of these guys, including Jake Long are irrelevant and misinformed. I'm hoping to see some optimism around here come next monday when we know who we have as Dolphins. I'm not expecting much though :tongue2:

I'm already optimistic. Even if we draft players I know nothing about, I know Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells have done their research and this is going to be the best Dolphins draft class in years.

i'm not as good as most of you guys at this, but my take:

Ireland puts emphasis on qb, lt, olb as premier players. We just signed a T, and we have a ? at qb- but wouldn't a rush end fit better. That would give us at least a new pillar on offense and one on defense.

next thought- could intrest in henne just be a smokescreen for some team to trade up? Or do you think this team is shooting straight at everything?

Remember guys, pick #32 is just that...

In other words, in any other year it'd be the last pick of the 1st ROUND.

So we are essentially picking for the 2nd time in the first. I don't even really consider it a second rounder....of course that's just my opinion...

I agree. Looking more like Henne, but that could be (and I hate to say this word) be a smokescreen. I would love to end up with Brohm, but Henne is growing on me.

I'm not 100% confident in our MLB spots as Crowder's coming off a weak season and Torbor hasn't really proved much in his career. That makes Dan Conner a strong possibility. A rangy, smart MLB is absolutely key to stopping the run (see Bruschi, Ray Lewis, Zach Thomas). There are a good number of gems later on in the late 2nd to 4th rounds for 3-4 OLB's (Bruce Davis, Shawn Crable, Bryan Kehl) but not much in the 3-4 MLB spots.

That said, I also hope a top CB like Antoine Cason or maybe Brian Brohm will be in the mix for that #32 pick. Henne I wouldn't really touch until our other second rounder at the least.

Well it's moot. If there were 1,000 days in a year, I'd only be a few years old.

IMO, Connor goes to Giants. According to Adamprez's analysis, hes a horrible fit for our team.

Yea, better for a 4-3 team with big DT's to keep OL off of him and let him roam....sound familiar?

Don't really want a qb that early, but it's certainly possible.

We only signed McCown to a 2 yr contract, and if next year's draft is that weak at the qb position as some are saying, then it makes sense to get a qb, that can be groomed, this year.

The only question may be, which qb is it. Brohm if he's still there, Henne certainly doesn't fit the tall qb that big Bill is known to like, and Flacco seems so overhyped, and sounds like someone who may need a fews yrs to be ready to compete.
