seriously, they are morons, obviously penny and henne are completley different quarterbacks....pennington will suceed all day in a henning offense, so all this will prove (it wont prove anything) to THEM is they have the right OC but wrong qb......so henning will stay....and henne will go

instead of changing the system to fit their young qb. ****ing fools

You mean the Pennington in 08 that threw 4 INT's in our playoff game after cruising through the easiest schedule in the league that year?

    Great. Can't wait.

some validity there Padre. but what pisses me off is that Penny will have a winning record the last 8 games, going either 5-3 or 6-2 if we're lucky with a much easier 8 game schedule than Henne had. The only way I will be impressed, or genuinely feel that this was the right decision is if Penny goes 7-1 or better and gets us into the playoffs. If he doesn't, then I hate this move

[EDIT] WTF am I supposed to do with my Chad Henne jersey now?

Do everyone a favor and please actually state what about the system we've been running all season needed to change. The downfield routes were certainly there.

True. Penny will throw the up for grabs ball on the sideline more than anyone.

You get the TD pass in the endzone, but just made the running game more difficult, BUT i guess Henning will actually try to run now.

What you don't get are the quick outs & downfield passes. You will have something else to complain about now.

There is always a primary receiver, and we almost never bother to call plays intending on going deep. Are you seriously trying to suggest that Henning is trying to attack defenses deep with his scheme? Do we watch the same games????

If that's the case, and this staff is really that incompetent to figure it out without having to bench someone, the problems are a hell of alot deeper than a QB dispute.

thats like a teacher with kids getting D's and F's saying....its not me...its the kids....

CHANGE HOW YOU COACH THINGS.....call different routes/plays....get a scheme together that fits your quarterback, instead of trying to shove a square peg into a round hole.....trying to make henne something he isnt

The job of the QB is to collectively get each part of the unit to work cohesively..

Chad Henne was not doing his job..

Iam sure you will see the offense play better with the way Chad Pennington orchestrates an offense..He will get all of them to find their rhythm..A rhythm we have not seen thru 8 games thus far..

If Henne isn't good enough to fight for his job back, or strong enough to recover and battle in practice, then so be it.

I do realize we are sacrificing something in the future..However, I dont think those wishes for ourselves can be sold to 53 team members...They want to win, playing for next year is not an option for them..Henne did not seem sure of his game..Patting the ball before delivery, unbalanced footwork, locking on to receivers, leadership, he was struggling it seems.

Iam sure the spark will be there because Pennington will demand a level of play by each part..How long it will last before the defense squeezes us?, we shall see..

I most definitely want to see tyler thigpen once the playoffs are out of reach, and if they dont become out of reach, than it means that Penny proved the coaches right.

Lets be fan's for once here, and get behind the leader that Penny is, I hope it is to bridge the gap to Thigpen, I do want to see what his skillset brings to this offense..His ability to improvise while keeping his eyes downfield I admit, has me very intrigued.

Being impressed or deciding it was the right decision shouldn't necessarily be based on record. It should be based on makes more plays in the passing game. If Pennington goes out there and makes the plays that Henne has been leaving on the field, then there shouldnt be an issue.

Wow... well I think Pennington is poop, but the man will win games and lose in the playoffs, 1st round... We have resorted to selling tickets this year.... Henne is obviously not the answer with this coaching move. Henne can start writing his big FU Henning letter as the man might of single handedly ruined this dudes career.

The one thing I will be paying significant attention to is 3rd and long. I wonder if it will be back to 2008 where if it was 3rd and 6/7 or worse then it was pretty much a guaranteed punt.

Through 8 games he has 618 yards. x2 = 1236 yards. he has more than that, twice (1325, 1265).

Hes on pace to match his career best in receptions. 104.

So ... yeah, shatter? no. And that's after you said someone else sounds like a fool!

Then he was never the guy to begin with, I hate this arguement...I fail to see that they lose someone for benching him....how about earn it back?? Novel ideal I know...especially for a guy who spent 4 years playing in one of the biggest rivarilies sports has ever known....the guy is there mentality...I agree he needs more time to develop...

All this bull**** is Henning the douche getting his old, noodle-armed QB! He threw what? 4 interceptions against Baltimore??? Take away the short, passing game and wow, Miami can't even move the ball... Desperate *** bull****!!!

What if Penny sucks, then what??? How does this help the development of a young team?

The deep passing game works only if you have speed at the WR position which we dont.

Marshall is a possesion WR and Pennington is a possesion QB .

We have a possesion type of offense ....when executed correctly.

The change makes sense to me.

Whether he deserves a ton of credit or not, he did take the team to the AFC Title game last year and is 6-2 so far this year. He's had something to do with their success as of late.

    Diff situation really

agree with everything other than a bridge to thigpen. he is the last person i want to see. henne's confidence was shaky with all the cover 2s he was seeing. getting a break in the action might be good for him. its up to him how he takes this benching. a future winner will use this as a motivational tool. a loser will fall apart. we'll see what henne is made of

No...all he does is set up where the designated reads will be. He does not attack defenses deep, period. He is a conservative short & intermediate guy who is predictable as **** and belongs in a museum with the rest of the creatures from the cretaceous period.

Well I guess our QB situation is still up in the air. Marino retired in 2000 and we still haven't found his successor ten years later. It's a damn shame! :pity:

Well, the bright side is that penny knows the offense, he's a proven winner, and it appears with this move and cutting JA, that Sparano is on the HOT SEAT to win now!

Also, it is important to note that the ravens arent the only team in the NFL to say that Henne was an easy read.
With penny back there, we will have more than 2 receivers running routes on each play and thus more options downfield.

On the downside, i think this means we see the WC return.
