We are the league leaders in Dreds, pound for pound, no team has more hair sticking out the back of helmets than the Dolphins.

Notice they added a DE Bakthiari as well.

As for Harris, we need someone to convert those interception chances, cripes what 7 dropped in two weeks?

    The original Predator.

We may not be able to tell our secondary apart pretty soon.

Exactly what I was thinking. Even if he can't run/cut like he used to he can coach up the younger DB's. He is (was?) a very good DB when he was healthy.

We'll see. I'm not going to get excited. I also hope our medical staff looke dhim over better than they did Brees and Culpepper. :pity:

They worked him out at 7am this morning and obviously felt like he was healthy enough to play.

I wonder how it's going to affect the secondary. I think Harris has a lot of experience in the slot although Woodson moved into the slot more in Green Bay recently. I would think Harris is here to compete against Benny Sapp, who may have been the responsible party that came off the field for the punt and wasn't supposed to.

Yes.I agree .He will compete with Sapp who has been underwhelming.

Harris has a nose for the ball,he is a hard hitter and his experience will help him fit in .Good pickup IMO.

Missed Bess, wasn't sure if Smith or Soliai counted.

I like this signing, someone is messing up in the secondary and they should have pressure to perform put on them, I think one of the thing missing from the Sparanophins is the idea that ANYONE can be benched for non performance.

Bess does though, and so does Carroll I believe.

If I remember correctly, Harris can be a pretty brutal player. If that's the case, then I more than welcome this move.

not to bash the guy, because in his better days he was very good, but I just read that in his 7 seasons at GB he only had 14 INTs total.

2 per season doesn't really equate to ballhawk to me, but then again should really factor in amount of passes thrown at him to get a good read on if 14 is a lot.

He will compete for playing time with Sapp and add depth and flexibility to the secondary as we have some banged up bodies.

I agree , a good pick up , if he is healthy he does add some positives to the team , and it was a no cost acquisition.

First thing I thought about with this signing was him coaching our young corners. Excellent press/man coverage in the past and I hope it continues. Imo, they would not have cut Jason Allen, despite playing like crap recently, who is an asset.

Nnamdi has 3 interceptions in the last 4 seasons, yet he is the best cornerback in the league. Interceptions do not fully tell the tale of a great corner. As you mentioned, other variables must be taken into account to make a full assessment, such as: thrown to v. completion percentage.

    Hey....

I cant see them signing him if he wasnt healthy......thats really the question mark right?

Im fine with the pickup.....high upside...and maybe he can teach our DB's how to CATCH THE FREAKIN BALL.

Seariously.....what would our D rankings be like if we caught all of our Ints instead of dropping them?

If he's healthy, I'm alright with this move.

However where I'm a bit shocked is the fact that we cut Jason Allen and not Benny Sapp.

Jason Allen is not geared to play nickel corner that is the reason. His hips are way too stiff. He would get turned around all day.

Not that Sapp sets the world on fire in that area.

All old age and one-legged jokes aside I like the move for the simple reason that it shows that unlike last year they are showing a regard for the fact that you can NEVER have too many good corners or secondary players and when you have guys on your team that are weak links and aren't getting the job done and there's some veteran out there that might have something for you, it's worth investigating.

How many games did we lose last year because we stubbornly stuck with Sean Smith and Vontae Davis despite their being rookies?

This reminds me of Mike McKenzie from a year ago. We considered him, didn't sign hmi, our guys played like crap because they're rookies, Nate Jones sure wasn't anything special, and McKenzie went to New Orleans and actually made a few plays for a few games. What's wrong with that? Those few plays help them win those few games and those few games helped them get on the path to the Super Bowl. This is a game of inches. I'd rather you exercise all options in front of you rather than not doing it, I dunno, just cuz.

I'll take a one-legged Al Harris over Jason Allen any day. That said it cant hurt to have some more experience back there and if Harris happens to "blow up" well all the better!

Which is what they did in 08, but not in 09, they took looks at everyone in 08 and would shake things up.

Recall adding Joey Thomas in 08 and the secondary settling down?

Well, with Rooks you take your lumps, with a 6 yr Vet, you really should not have to:

Ouch. And that was the last game JA started in Miami.

And with our blitzing the Coordinators have know the Db will be in proper position to not allow a big play, they couldn't do that with Jason Allen.

Yet, we cut Jason Allen who is much more valuable in terms of STs? I know he can't play the slot and is a boundary corner, but swapping Harris for Allen doesn't make sense to me.
