Collie just took a vicious hit by Samuel and is motionless on the ground. Can't believe the philly fans are booing the personal foul call. Anybody see that?
ya and imo he was NOT defensless....he caught the ball then curled up to take the hit.....thats a iffy penalty imo, just a hard hit
helmet to helmet.. good call... and for the fans to boo while the guy is still down and Samuel to run around like a little ***** complaining is pathetic...
he was out because of the hit on the back of his helmet by the Eagle player... COleman, who looked like he was a little out of it too...
Just heard it was Coleman who laid the hit. According to the announcers it technically isn't a defenseless receiver like Sick said. However that hit was awful, and people wonder why Goodell is trying to change the rules about hits.
No way, Coleman's helmet hit him in the back of the head. Was he a defenseless receiver according to the rule book? No, because he made two steps and was technically a runner. But it was still helmet to helmet.
I don't think it was intentional a la brandon meriweather but it was still incidental helmet to helmet, and that's gonna get a flag. Collie got spun by the first hit and the second caught him in the head. It's unfortunate and I hope he is okay
right, good flag, shouldn't be a fine nor suspension though. However, that probably wouldn't have been a flag a few weeks ago, prior to the "fuss" that was stirred up recently. Bottom line, malicious intent not there.
The refs definitely tried rewarding the Colts by giving them a 1st down on 4th and 18 after they failed to recover the 1st down.
Here's the issue. When he catches the ball he lowers his head and the defender who is leading with his shoulder is already in the air. I do have a problem with these guys using their bodies as projectiles, but its hard to unteach your self something you have been taught your whole life.
I think that is the difference on the rule is it not....a runner vs. "defenseless" receiver?? I thought I remember as recently on the Harrison hits vs CLE. He was penalized on the WR (Massaquoi) hit, but not on the Wildcat/RB (Cribbs) hit for this very reason.
clean hit. helmet to helmet was incidental. what do the Colts call the very next play? deep over the middle. the Eagles FS pulls up like a good company man and the receiver gets another 5 yards, plus half the distance for a face mask call. what a joke.
I'd rather see offense with a small advantage because defenders need to change tackling styles than players laying on the ground paralyzed. Coleman lead in with his helmet, that's gonna draw the foul. Quite a few defenders have already changed the way they tackle without much impact. Hell Merriweather the week after he nearly killed Heap was in the exact same situation and made an excellent wrap up form tackle with no head contact. These are world class athletes, they can and will adapt. I will say that with the emphasis on no head contact, I would like to relax the rules on Pass Interference though.
no one was paralyzed. this was not a flagrant helmet to helmet hit, a la merriweather. he hasn't been fined for it.
