I know this is not related to the Dolphins, but I think it should be posted in this forum. If not, please remove.

The refs and our the stupid commish is literally ruining this game. Nowadays, you stare at a QB for too long, you'll get flagged. My old man told me about how football was around his days. He told me how people would slam and just literally throw you. It's definitely not like that today. Let these guys play football. The refs are calling constant BS calls in every game the Jets played in, and I have noticed some terrible calls in Miami games.

Serious question: Am I the only one who feels like this?

The officials are doing a good job, get off their arises! If you want to ***** about the league, then I'm with you. First, you have to understand what's going on, most fans don't have a fricking clue. If you hate the league so much, then go watch something else. Directv has 200 channels to choose from?

The owners and the league is what is killing this sport, not the officials. Officials make their share of mistakes, but the players and coaches make so many more. I didn't hear BB *****ing about the officials when the Patriots got smashed by Cleveland.

I have a problem with defensive players PURPOSELY trying to cripple another player. They wouldn't like it either if they played O. To many cheap shot artists in the game now.

Im all for player protection, but you can't take the hits from the game either. I get it, and support it 110% to remove helmet to helmet hits from the game at all costs. You'll never change my mind on that. You've got to remember, these guys have lives they still need to live beyond their playing years. Sure football was alot more violent years ago, but look at the condition those poor guys are in now. Its awful, crippling both physically and mentally in alot of cases. Its not right. Sure its a risk that comes with playing a violent game, but it doesn't have to be that bad, and it shouldn't be. I know its more entertaining to some, but you've got to remember, these guys are human beings as well. Not just puppets for our entertainment.

As for officials... the officiating has been at an all time worst this year IMO. Every game i watch, even non-phins games that I have no interest in, I see so many calls that just leave you sitting there scratching your head. Its ridiculous to watch QB's like Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady, Drew Brees etc... get every single call go their way, constantly. Then you see a guy who's not a bigtime star yet, like Flacco, Henne, Freeman, whoever... taking shots that are clear penalties and not getting the calls. I mean hell, Henne was hit after sliding once or twice today alone without a flag. Then don't even get me started on the Mia/Pitt game, or the Mia/NO game last year, and so many other games that just leave you scratching your head.

That being said, Pass Interference calls are the worst IMO. I'm tired of watching WR's jump up and call for a flag on any ball that's not caught. More often then not, they get the call, and in most cases its a 20+ yard gain. Its a call that automatically makes the assumption that the pass would have been caught, when in reality, we all know that may not be the case. Make it a 10 or 15 yard penalty, with an automatic first down similar to college rules.

    Are you guys serious?

4th and 18, Eagles up by 9, 3 minutes left, and Eagles blitz. Trent Cole strip sacks Manning, Eagles recover, but flag is thrown because Cole incidently brushed Manning's helmet as he was swiping at the ball. Game over at that point if the play stands. If the Eagles ended up losing because of it a huge uproar would have ensued.

    That's just pathetic.

That was one of the worst penalties I've ever seen. Probably top-3 all time bad. It would have been a travesty if the Colts won.

that call was an absolute joke....but thats not the refs. they are enforcing the rules. and the rules (stupid as they are) is you cant touch the qbs helmet.

    period.

if the 4 lane highway has a 35 mph speed limit, and you think its stupid, dont blame the cop that pulled you over, enforcing the law, be pissed at the law makers.

You should have seen the Eagles game. Collie got laid out on a legit play and they flagged for 15. Beyond that the refs did everything they could to hand the game to Indy.

I have no problem with the NFL trying to remove brutal hits. Look at some of those players from the old days, they are shells of their former selves. I mean they are finding that multiple concussions and head trauma in players can be linked to athlete suicide, and football players generally die younger than most. I can't care if you make multiple millions of dollars, it's not worth it. At the end of the day I can enjoy a football game with good form tackling and less guys "jacked up".

You're 100% right. I did mention the commish in my original post, but I just don't see how they can possibly call that. That call was a complete joke.

That was one of the worst calls ever.

I like player safety, and I like the new rule. However, I think it's stupid that he had to enforce it during the regular season.

These players get paid too damn much to treat them like princesses. The funny thing is their salaries are only going to increase.

Ever stop to think it's just a poor interpretation of the rules? Take baseball for instance where every single umpire has a different strike zone even though it the strike zone is clearly laid out in the rules. In this case the rule is no contact with the quarterbacks helmet, and then you're having some dip**** ref call a silly helmet graze because he wants to be literal.

If the officials don't call the games the way that the owners want it call, they won't be working games in the NFL. That's the way it is. I always defend the officials, but I do understand that some of those calls are BS, IMO, but I also understand that the officials get their instructions from the league on how to officiate the games.

Don't blame the officials, blame the owners and the league.
