At this point, Henne hating should strictly be on a week by week basis. But good QBs get that ball to Fasano. He was bad today. Hope he's good next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Look at the way your posts read... that is why you get put on ignore. Not because of your views towards Henne. Its the way you conduct yourself.
yeah flacco put the ball where it needed to be to continue to run - henne dont receivers either has to reach back jump into the air to catch the damn ball. the ball to bess near the endzone if henne makes a good throw its a TD but what happened? henne threw it high bess had to jump for it!!thus stopped at the 1
you know what man?? Henne can't win no matter what he does if he did all these drop offs like he did a few weeks back then ppl would complain about him not passing it deep there is no winning here I'm done arguing
Finally someone telling it the way it is. 1/3 of this team is slow and old and Henne has no control. This is not a winning formula. It is what it is - crap.
Went down trying to make a play to win the game nothing wrong with that. Happens to the best of them.
what about his first one? I'm just sayin.... I'm not comparing Henne to Manning by any means but even the BEST quarterbacks make mistakes it takes a whole TEAM to win games the problem is that alot of ppl on this site are way to reactionary to Henne's mistakes and don't realize that EVERY qb in the league does the same stupid mistakes
Because fiedlers 3000+ Yards and 20 TDs had nothing to do with it. The defense won EVERYGAME is that what your saying??? we had a good defense Not good Enought to get to the playoffs By itself. Stop exagerating
I can't believe people would ignore other people. Even if I don't agree I don't think I could ever ignore anyone unless it was just mindless spam over and over again.
when properly & discreetly used the ignore option is a good thing as I would defend anyone to their right to opinion & free speech I uphold your right not to listen & need to escape petty annoyances
Henne has faced the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th rated scoring defenses. Cmon now. We're asking a 2nd year starting QB to take this offense on his shoulders against top Ds with no true vertical threat, an inconsistent ground game, an unreliable mediocre TE, no COP back, no #2 TE, a #4 & #5 undrafted FA rookie WR, poor field position from our weak return game, and suspect play calling. Give the kid the proper resources before you crucify him. Flacco, Ryan, Sanchez, or Freeman don't this much pressure on them.
Did anyone happen to watch what Jacoby Ford did for the Raiders in the last minute of the game and overtime? We don't have ANYTHING close to that to help open up a field or allow Henne to utilize the cannon that God blessed him with. Give Henne a real opportunity to play to his strengths b/c playing him inside a 20 yard box at a time isn't remotely playing to his strengths. He needs the personnel to allow him to routinely do this. We have personnel fitted for Pennington's dinky arm when we need guys who can maximize Henne's gun. Henne's not the problem. The tools he's been given aren't matched to best suit his needs...... not to mention we don't even have a decent #4 to come in to give our guys a breather. It's a lot easier to get Henne the proper tools than it is to find another franchise QB. The Jets know this, hence making sure they had a threat at TE, then acquiring Edwards and a deep threat in Holmes. The Falcons knew this and surrounded Ryan with Gonzalez and Turner his rookie year after having Roddy White and Mike Jenkins. The Lions knew this and added Pettigrew, Burleson, Scheffler, and Best to Stafford's arsenal. (granted they should've sealed the line first, but Oline isn't our greatest offensive problem). The Ravens surrounded Flacco with weapons to grow (Rice, Boldin, Housh, and drafting Ed Dickson AND Dennis Pitta) instead of making him rely on Heap and Mason alone. The Raiders surrounded their offense with weapons/down field threats (Zach Miller, McFadden, Murphy, Bey, and now Ford) and look what it's beginning to do with them. The Eagles emphasized playmakers by adding Jackson, Maclin, and McCoy. The Giants have given their franchise QB every opportunity to thrive by drafting weapons like Nicks, Smith, Manningham, and spending a 3rd on Beckham while having an explosive back in Bradshaw. The Bucs drafted playmakers Williams and Benn & grabbed Spurlock to go along with Winslow and Cadillac. What did we do for Henne to open things up? We added the most dangerous possession receiver in the NFL in Marshall and have one of the top possession slot receivers in Bess. THAT'S IT. What did we do to ensure these guys get more space to work with so they actually have a chance to do what they do best? Nothing. We emphasized nothing for a downfield threat. In fact we took away our only one. We did nothing to give Henne a reliable big target over the middle who can stretch the seam. And we did nothing to give Henne a true threat out of the backfield who can eat up yards in a flash if there's an opening. We've spent our time over-tinkering with the line, building defense, and using draft picks on more possession receivers/TEs/backs.
Thigpen can't hold Henne's jock. Seriously, the guy is a non factor. He's a roster hanger on. The guy will start, if we have all our other QB's leave on a cart. Henne is the NOW and maybe the future. I'm firmly in his corner. He must be given the season to grow and learn. Was he good today? Not really but he was good in stretches. I think the play calling was ABYSMAL. I think today was Henning's worst game as offensive coordinator. Henne did not have a chance. Our offense is very incomplete and expecting a young passer to flourish in it is a little ridiculous. The middle of our offensive line is inconsistent. Our running game flat out sucks. We have no speed at ALL. No one to stretch it out. Cam Cam is a great offensive coordinator, especially for a young passer. Flacco was nmot that good today but he put up good numbers. Why? Cam Cam had safety valves for him. He could dump it to Rice or Heap. He runs the same simple stuff over and over again, daring you to stop it. He does not out coach himself. He times his plays well. How often does Henning call a screen at the right time? Or a draw? Our offense has ZERO identity. We want to be a running team yet we won't commit to the run when we can/should. Are we a passing team? No, we play it safe too much. What are we? How can Henne succeed when no one on the damn coaching staff seems to know what we are?!
Amen. We should've drafted Dez Bryant. The kid's a rare talent and already showing to be a men among boys at times. I don't know why we didn't. IMO it's harder to find an elite WR than it is to find a quality starting OLB so we should be gobbling one up when they come our way.
3rd YEAR.. He had an opportunity to do something Not many of the people In his draft class had. Sit and watch One of the NFL greats (Chad pennington). Flacco= Thrown Into starter Sanchez=Thrown into a starter ryan=Same. These guys For the most part Have OUTPERFROMED henne He is NOT the future I dont Know But i have a feeling Many of you Won´t be defending Henne By this time next year
Now, this is where you and I have disagreed in the past and will likely continue to do so. Our defense has kept us in game this year and will win us games. We can not expect to outscore everyone. That said, we do need playmakers and speed on this offensive football team. We also need a tight end who is reliable. the past draft (Odrick/Misi) is a draft we needed. Players who can and will start and play well in the base defense. The upcoming draft has to focus on speed. Our offense is painfully slow. We desperately need a running back who can take it to the house and scares the hell out of teams, we also need a workhorse banger. Drafting 2 running backs is something I'm firmly in support of, as well as a tight end.
Great. Let's go with your plan. Start Penny for the balance of the year, cut Henne and then go into the next draft looking for a quarterback, never knowing if Henne was the guy or not. Then we can give THAT QB 21 starts and if he is not Peyton Manning will cut him to and go around and around. Dan Marino is not walking through the door anytime soon. Giving Henne the balance of the year to see what we have is the ONLY way to know. Giving up on him know, not knowing for sure would be disastrous....IMO
These guys have had more starts and have more weapons to work with. This isn't even debatable if you're trying to compare these guys. Flacco= has MANY MANY weapons Sanchez= has MANY weapons Ryan= has many weapons Freeman= has many weapons These weapons take less pressure off their QBs, allow the field to be stretched, and provide more space for backs, receivers, and TEs to work with..... which is what we are SORELY LACKING. Marshall and Bess need space to do what they do best. It's hard to get them space for YAC when they're constantly smothered b/c defenses don't have a vertical threat or seambusting TE to defend.
You want to talk about someone being insulting all evening on these boards, look at your own posts. You've referred to others here as douchebags multiple times, not to mention what youve referred to Henne as, as well as those who "support" him. I can only hope this thread, and your other posts get some viewership from mods sometime soon, you deserve a little break IMO
I guess you can say we're both right b/c we're hampered by not having a quality #2..... but then if we drafted Dez we'd be without a quality OLB. I still feel that a top WR is harder to come by compared to an OLB...... and I wanted Dez b/c he's a rare playmaker of elite ability not easily duplicated. The upcoming draft is deep at pass rushers and Dline but sorely lacking in the speed/playmaking department (for WR, TE, and RB) from what I recall. I'm actually a defensive minded person myself to be honest. I just wanted to do it in the opposite order so that we could hopefully maximize both drafts for our needs. Heck, I would've settled for the best of both worlds by drafting Odrick and Misi while taking Jacoby Ford to replace Ginn as a necessary vertical threat..... and I have no idea why we didn't spend a flier on Blount whom many of us loved.
Bro... I'm not commenting at all on your opinion. I couldnt care less what you think of this team, its the way you're talkin here that's making people probably put you on ignore. Your profanity filled posts are more fitted for a Jets board than here. If you cant talk to others with respect, and about others here, or the players with respect, then you should not expect respect for your posts, or your opinions in return.
It's very simple. You get your offense it's proper weapons before you spend resources on looking for another QB..... b/c regardless of how a QB turns, the offense still needs playmakers and an ability to score etc. Get the weapons first so you know EXACTLY what your QB is made of..... and if he still doesn't pan out, then your future QB at least has an arsenal to develop with while easing his burden to carry a team.
Bad games and bad throws didn't define Marino's career but they define Henne's? You contradict yourself with each word. (And it's "you're" as in you are. You did it twice. )
The weapons help, no doubt. But we have enough weapons to be a "successful offense" (ie not bottom of the league in scoring, but at least 14-19th). The fact our offense has no identity does little to help alleviate the pressure on Henne, but it's not justification for all the problems. Henne needs to cut back on the mistakes (missed passes, INTs, more accurate completions), but the receivers need to hang on to passes, not fall down, and come back to the ball (like Mason did for Flacco on one 3rd down). The whole offense is contributing to the poor showings. I hope (emphasis on hope) that over the next few games Henne can step up and lead the offense to more points. I hope he can become the player I have seen glimpses of, and be a player who can lift his teammates play up and consistently answer the call when we need it (and even put us in a positions where we won't need to answer back all the time).
Exactly. No QB not named P. Manning could come onto this team and do much better. Our WR's drop too many balls, our RB's don't break enough tackles and our OC always calls the wrong plays.
I have been a Major Henne supporter and continue to be! It takes time to develop is the mantra and i stick with it. But in everymans life you gotta make things your own. You go outside the box you dive deeper, play harder, TAKE A CHANCE SO YOU CAN DISTINGUISH YOURSELF FROM ALL OTHERS. Make it your own. Im not sure if the coaching staff, fans, youth or something has scared this kid so he wont improvise or just play like a he's having fun. He plays scared. I use to like the robot term, now im getting annoyed by it. I DO NOT BELIEVE like some that Henne cant make the plays. But we need to fundamentally change the way our offense looks at a game plan. Coaches need to take notice and do something drastic like the wildcat was 2 yrs ago. This dink and dunk is disheartening to fans but also players i'd believe. Henne needs to decide if he wants to be elite or just another yes man on the field. Become his own man or follow. IMPROVISE, take chances, take the team and make it yours. I DO NOT believe that our losses are Henne's fault but hennings. This thread is about Henne and this is where he can improve. Edit didnt mean to put henning in there he is a large part of the disfunction
If I had to point to my biggest concern in regards to Henne, it's this. I know it sounds like everyone on offense (and the coaches) know this is Henne's team, but I want him to go out there and show it at some point this season (the long Bengals drive was a good example, but I want more).
I'd like to see our coaching staff ALLOW Henne to really make this his team. And F#@k the stupid horn in practice. Ditch the thing and let him get a better natural feel in the pocket. He's having time to throw but that damn horn mentality is more than likely forcing him to check down too soon. Classical conditioning at it's finest if you will.
"We made them do what they didn't want to do, which is throw downfield," Ray Lewis on Ravens approach to beat the Dolphins. He makes it sound like it was so easy to beat us. Looked like it too. Though I'll give more props for the Dolphins abandoning the run[yet again] when it was working when we were only down by 3.
First of all Never said I wanted Pennington In. He is Injured and will do no better. I also dont want Henne Cut I just Like I BENCHED. and How many starts Will it take before we decide that Henne is NOT THE GUY?
This post really stood out b/c this is what people would say a lot when Jay Fiedler or [insert any other QB since marino here] was under center. I'm supposed to believe that a Drew Brees or Tom Brady wouldn't be getting more out of this offense?
It just makes me laugh a little to see lack of offensive talent being sold as a reason for Henne's limited success. This is probably the most talented offense in a while. I don't buy for a second that this isn't a good offense with Brees, Brady, Rivers, or Rodgers under center just off the top of my head.
