As for Merriman, I'd guess that is all of the answer Mike B was going to get, but still, it would mean they liked Merriman for some specific role in the defense more than who they have there now.
The revelation was that the Packers planned on getting 2 players blocking him on every snap. And yeah, that's a significant revelation. Teams are currently alternating between playing Wake straight and making sure to chip him. Korey Hall revealed that they weren't going to play him straight. That lets Nolan know he's not going to have 5 receiving targets to defend on passing downs.
