Lost in all this is how bad the Vikings got fleeced by the Patriots. New poll question deserving its own thread: Who got fleeced worse: OAK or MINN?
One never knows about stuff like this. Maybe the FO or the owner just didn't want this guy down here; or, maybe they have watched him on film this year and think he's done as a player. One big factor that the Dolphins are about is work ethic. They want the players to give everything they have all the time. But, with Moss - he's such a wild card that they can't control. If Moss' head is on and he shows he can still play, of course it's hard to imagine how good a receiving corps that would be with Moss & Marshall. Sure makes things even more interesting moving forward.
Well, now it makes sense because it's reported Britt may miss 6 to 8 weeks. He said he's missing the Dolphins game for sure, which is great for us. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Kenny-Britt-could-be-out-six-to-eight-weeks.html
Looking at it, it was a high risk, high reward situation. I really feel that Moss could have done some good things for us, but at the same time... he could have tore apart the locker room and possibly divided it in half.
Thats what I've been trying to tell people If Britt isnt out, Moss goes completely unclaimed and hits the market
Believe it or not there are more pressing concerns on a GMs mind than selling jerseys. Here's how I look at this: Bill Belichick had a chance to trade a player away (a player whom he knows and has had success in controlling for several years) for a third round pick, let him play somewhere else for two weeks, and then get him back for FREE....thereby adding yet another feather into his "genius" hat for sports enthusiasts the world over to oooh and ahhh over....and he PASSED! That should tell you something right there! You can argue that they don't need him as much as us because they score more points than us on average. But, the fact that the Patriots score as many points as they do, with a frighteningly similar level of talent at every position other than QB, should tell you that our problem with scoring points and TD is not related to our not having a "deep threat".
Belichick didn't "pass". Moss was claimed before he got the chance to bring him back. You never know what he might have done had Moss become a free agent. Our fans are bigger cowards than the organization. We're so desparate afetr 35 years to root for a winner we justfy every ridiculous move this organization makes. I'm done. I'm tired of it. This was such an obvious, low risk move, that it is inexcusable not to make it, particularly when you knew at least a half hour ahead of time that Tenn had put in a waiver claim, who alos happens to be a team you're theoretically competing with for a playoff spot. Inexcusable cowardice.
I'm out of faith. I'm 31 years old and have been following this team religiously since I'm old enough to remember. We've been to one AFC Championship game. It's enough. I'll still foolishly watch the games and ridiculousy spend money on tickets and merchandise but I no longer have any expectations or faith. If they win, it's a bonus.
Uh....wrong. The Patriots would never have put in a waiver claim. They were the last team in the line....if it got to them...the would have let him become a FA. Knowing how much Randy Moss wanted to come play for the Pats....they would have signed him as a FA, and the Vikings would have had to pay his contract. There was no reason for the Pats to put in a claim, infact, it was in their best interest that he did become a FA. So heres what would have happened if he hit FA. Pats would sign him, Vikings not only pay Moss contract the balance of the season, but the Pats keep the Vikings 3rd round draft pick. Its the only reason I can think that Miami did not put in a claim, they expected him to hit FA, and they felt they could entice Moss as a FA with a 2 year contract. Of which....they would have not had to pay him for this season....Minnesota would have.
That makes sense, VT, except the Dolphins knew BEFORE the deadline that Tenn had out in a claim for Moss. So, if they had really wanted him, they would have put in a claim o their own. Instead, they sat around with their thumb up their ***.
Yes, he DID pass on him. The NFL announces not only who was awarded the claim, but also who put in claims, ergo we were all told by ESPN et. all that although the Bills were awareded Merriman, the Bucs and Dolphins also put in claims. Conversely, the same outlets clearly reported that the NFL only received ONE claim for Moss, Tennessee. Just one of 32 teams.
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe our coach and GM don't want a guy on their team who openly admits to playing whenever he feels like playing, *****es to the media if he doesn't get enough touches and generally treats everyone around him like second class citizens. That has nothing to do with being a coward, and more to do with believing in the locker room you've developed to this point. Putting Moss along side Marshall is akin to putting a match next to a can of gasoline. Maybe the match just goes out and no harm done, ir maybe the wind blows the right way and BOOM! You've messed yourself.
Good point. Fair enough. Maybe you're right. But I gotta think BB would rather take his chances in signing a player with NO competition than WITH competition.
