You can double cover as much as you want but if Moss has six seconds with a heavy protection package there's little chance that you can stop him even then. It's pretty simple really. Brown and Fasano along with the five linemen will keep Henne clean quite often. If you're doubling Marshall and Moss that's four taken out of the play. One guy has to cover Bess making it six MAXIMUM for the pass rush and that can still be picked up. Either way it's a major nightmare for the defense especially if their line can't pressure Henne. Not to mention Brown and Fasano releasing for easy yardage.

Exactly. If they can get a semi happy Moss it easies the jobs of every player on that offense. Guys see easier coverages and the underneath will be open large. Not to mention Moss dictates 2 deep bombs a game.

Henne would probably cry sweet tears of joy. I bet Jets fans would assume they can stop them with their CBs though. Bull****.

By the way what WR core could be considered better than that trio since welll.... I don't know.

You people seriously cant want Moss on the Dolphins. Marshall is pissed already that he only has 1 touchdown on the season do you expect him to be happy when Moss comes in and takes away some of his receptions?

Why would he take away receptions? Hartline already gets 5 catches a week. That's plenty for Moss. 5 catches for Moss is 70-80 yards a week and Marshall will be seeing what he did in the first half of that G.B. game every week. This team will become a true passing team.

Yes we are serious. Marshall would be thrilled to have a guy here who prevents defenses from focusing on him so much...... and as such he would score MORE TDs, not less. With defenses more spread out (or less coverage on Brandon), he'll have more space to do what he does best- tack on chunk yardage. I'm sure he'll love that too!! Your logic is backwards, no offense.

We average about 37 passes a game the last three games. There's plenty of passes to spread around especially if they keep Fasano in more often or Brown.

What Marshall is probably most frustrated with is us NOT having a quality #2/deep threat who demands more coverage attention than what Hartline provides.

He's frustrated that Henne won't force the ball into coverage to feed him passes which is why they need to continue to give him that bubble screen to see what he can do.

But he gets so much attention that those bubble screens are less effective than what they would be like if we had a quality #2 IMO..... and if we had a quality #2 then there wouldn't be a need to force as many passes.

I think we underrate just how difficult double coverage can be on a WR. I remember just how badly Moss destroyed Miami in 08 when we went to single coverage with Allen on him. It was horrible. An underrated aspect is the red zone impact. I'd estimate the potential gain to the offense as at least four points a game if not seven. With how close Miami's games are that's potentially into the playoffs or missing out altogether.

I just want to see us at the point where we can run more routes with WRs catching the ball running upfield rather than all these comebacks and outs.

At the very least we should nab him as an experiment just to see how it affects Henning's play calling....... and to give us a better idea of what the offense is capable of with a premium #2. If Moss drastically changes things, then we know to seriously prioritize WR in the offseason as his replacement. It's not like we lose anything by sending a FA rook WR to the practice squad...... it doesn't hurt cap room..... and we're not obligated for a multi year contract.

We have one star WR in hand cuffs. Does Moss help at all?

Please tell me you're not comparing a guy who has 5 receiving TDs in 4 years to a guy who has 52 TDs during the same time.

Are we forgetting that we're having trouble scoring TDs even though we can move the ball well??

Everyone is quick to throw Hartline to the trash but Moss is the guy
Let that kid keep developing and stay the hell away from Randy.
When Childress got out his bong looks like Fin fans were in line to take a hit.

Ted Ginn can't catch hence no threat. By the way did you just compare San Fran's #4 WR to Randy f'n Moss??

This isn't rocket science. We don't give up draft picks OR players to get one of the missing pieces to our puzzle. Moss puts our chances that much closer to SB hopeful...... and if he poses a problem, we cut him. Bing-bang-boom. There is absolutely NO WAY he doesn't become an instant upgrade over Hartline. Our mouths should be salivating.

He can develop just fine as a #4 where he belongs...... and his development does NOT take precedence over an attempt at a SB. Only a franchise QB gets that hall pass.

Hartline actually would do quite well as the #4 as the split-end.

Moss as the flanker, Hartline as the split end, with Marshall in the slot on the left and Bess on the right with Brown in the backfield is frightening. Killerphins who do you think we play on the way to a SB? The Patriots-Jets-Ravens-Steelers teams of that ilk. Why do you think it's impossible we could beat them with that kind of passing game.

He gets us closer to it this season than Hartline does that's for sure. :tongue2:

If we get one extra TD/game instead of all these damn FGs, then we're 6-1 right now and frontrunners for a SB run.

I don't like Moss as a person but he will surely help our franchise and will take coverages off Marshall which is a +++. Hartline will be going on the bench as well!

Anyway I'm heading out... Hopefully I'll wake up to some good news!

Plus, if we can score more TDs early rather than these f#@$ing FGs, then Nolan can really dial up the defensive intensity and aggressiveness!! If our defense is looking good in all these damn close games, imagine how much better they'd look when opposing offenses are playing from a bigger deficit.
