    1. I was dissappointed in Henne. Let me first tell you that I'm a Henne supporter and I think he has the tools and skill set to take us where we want to go. He miss read wide open receivers all day long. There was at least half a dozen times that Marshall was wide open on a deep route. I mean wide open. Henne had a lot of time in the pocket and he gets rid of the ball too quick when there is little or no pressure. Let me put it another way, Marshall was open all day long. Henne has to recognize his horse and feed him.

    2. Dan Carpenter is Money. If he would just develope his leg to put the ball about 5 yards deeper he would be the best kicker in the NFL.

    3. The Bengals fight song was written by a 2 year old. Seriously it was absolutely the worst song ever written. It only had phrases not actual sentences. I want to thank the Miami D for not allowing them to score again so I wouldn't be subjected to it.

    4. Henning called some good plays. The problem watching it on tv is you don't get to see the whole field. I'm telling you Henne checked off his main receivers and checked down when he didn't. Marshall was open all day long. When they through the ball back to Henne on the sweep, Marshall and Hartline were both wide open on the other side of the field- wide open. Henne still made a good throw but to topic #5.

    5. Dropped #$@&^# passes! Fasano, Polite and Hartline dropped huge passes on perfect throws.

    6. No more Polite out in the flat! Seriously there is no reason. He might catch it but he is going down after a gain of a yard or so.

    7. Why is Bess off the field on 3rd down? Why would you take your best third down weapon off the field on 3rd down. I know it happen at least twice but I would want him out there. He is Henne's security blanket.

    8. The Bengals had a great home crowd. Its always fun to walk through the other team's home stadium after beating them. It made the cost of the game justifiable and the 7 hour drive home more enjoyable. One of these days I'm going to get to Dolphin Stadium and watch a game.

    9. I like that we opened in 3 & 4 wide sets. It gives us a lot more options and leaves a linebacker on a receiver. I'm not sure why Henne didn't look more at that mismatch.

    10. The wildcat is a joke. Our line doesn't explode off the ball and teams aren't scared of Ricky and Ronnie. Ricky isn't as fast and Ronnie dances too much. The difference between Cedric Benson's speed and our running back's speed was very obvious.

    11. The ball is too fast for Chris Clemons. He should had two ints. yesterday and the last one where he popped the ball up to TO was right in front of me. He is pressing to hard to get the ball in his hands. I hope now that he made one of the biggest boneheaded plays of the year- he relaxes and watches the ball into his hands and slows it down in his mind. However, he made some good plays and he is FAST!!!!!!!

    12. What was Bess thinking? I give Bess a pass but it was a stupid play and he would be the first to tell you. He had absolutely no shot at grabbing that ball and you could tell the rest of the game he was scared to field it. When you are at the game, there is just a lot more of the play you can see vs. TV. For some reason, you could see that one coming, I was just hoping that he knocked it out of bounds but it wasn't even close.

Overall, it was a great day for Fin fans that were there representing our team. The weather was perfect and the stadium was incredible for watching the game. I didn't think Ricky got in for the touchdown, but I'm not complaining. The Bengals got all the breaks and if Henne would have looked at Marshall a little bit more it could have been a blow out. We play hard and our team is on the verge of being an elite team.

On thing I don't understand is why they design the stadium to sit like it does because in the second half, half the field was in the shadows. It has to be difficult for the players to see the passes in and out of the sun.

He nailed a 54 yarder with room to spare, what else do you want from the guy?! lol

Good stuff though. It sucks not being able to see who's open down field on TV. I've said for years networks are missing the boat by not providing these additional angles. I know it's not all on the networks, the NFL probably has some say, but it really sucks for the fans.

Yeah it was definitely an issue for both teams. Even the announcers brought it up numerous times.

To me, that's by far the most troubling thing you said, and since I'm forced to watch all 16 games over the internet that's not something I'd ever be able to see. The coaching staff has to see it as well though and hopefully those adjustments come. Heck, I saw several deep passes that never should have been thrown....Bess was triple covered that one play and I couldn't believe Henne threw it.

    Anyway, thanks for the comments.

yeah thats what i expected to hear. people keep wanting to blame henning because they dont like the results but its not the playcalling. its a young QB who is still learning the game and an average run game. bottom line its the exectution. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Its good to hear first hand accounts

How many times where a guy was "open deep" did the WR get open after Henne took his eyes off them or when he looked to the other side of the field?

No they left cause the upper deck fin fans started a "let's go dolphins" chant that was extremly loud ;) I have to disagree a bit with the op on the bm being wide open down the field all day part, having the unfortunate luck of being in the upper deck you do get the benefit of seeing the whole field and having a good depth perception angle on it, I was surprised at how well the bengals covered bm... Yes a few times he looked to get seperation but the saftey would be creeping over the top or it would be late in the patten and henne would be checking down. I was also impressed in the synchronization off every bengal fan in the stadium when we got the int to seal the game..up they stood and out they went...i thought "sweet no traffic" ! And yes my wife and I took a victory lap around the stadium too.

If you read my latest post in DolfanMikes "small box" thread I will tell you what you saw. ;)

That was straight up cover 2 in the "triple covered" Bess throw. And that was Cobbs that was open cause the safety on his side cheated to Bess.

You CAN see alot on TV. You just need DVR, a few clues from player movement, and a knowledge of what you are looking for.

I wonder if this a trait of his or caused by the fear that the staff will pull him if he makes a mistake. I can hear the praise when they watch the film "Great job checking down and not turning the ball over". Maybe it's from that friggin horn they used in practice last year. It could be a Pavlovs dog reaction.

I'd be interested to see if he played this way in college. I do think his pocket presence for pressure has gotten better though.

My opinion on that, being a Michigan fan... is no. He went deep an awful lot to Braylon Edwards, and Mario Manningham. It's alot to do with this staff's mentality of ball control, and threatening to "kill" guys for turnovers. You can preach ball control all you want, and its a good thing, but at some point you have to take chances as well to move the ball. Can't have your cake and eat it too. Of course, that saying goes both ways... with the offense taking more chances downfield, you also open up the chance for more turnovers or failed plays... However, as I said, I never felt that was a problem with Henne at Michigan, he took alot of deep shots with those guys. Of course, that being said, i watched the game then, alot differently than I watch it now as well, so I could have been missing things then too.

I agree 100% on all your points. Hearing the fans sing that stupid fight song makes it even worse. And yes, Marshall was open all game. It was disappointing to see Henne not even look his way.

Yes, I realize that he wasn't drafted in the first. But I remember that fresh off the Ricky Williams retirement saga there was not many teams eager to draft a pothead.

Sure, Braylon went in the first round but Manningham was a 3rd or 4th round pick. Mostly because of his immaturity, but his talent wasnt quite as great as Braylon's either coming out, but we have Brandon Marshall here. There's no reason we shoudlnt be going deep more than we are, aside from our coaching staff has beaten the theme of ball control, and not taking risks from day 1. You can preach ball control all you want, but at the end of the day you have to take shots, and when you've trained your players to not to make mistakes and not to turn the ball over, they become reluctant to take risks. So, the staff at this point cant complain about the lack of deep shots. In this case, its not necessarily the players, partially it is, yes, but the message to the staff should be, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want the shots to be taken, you had to be willing to accept the risk that comes with it. I think with a different HC, and OC, we see a different QB in Henne. Which I think would be a positive, because he's learned the smart way, not to turn the ball over, I think there just needs to be more encouragement though to take the shots, just... take them when they are best to do so.

I think you would be surprised to see how much his decisions look like a superbowl winning QB decisions. Look at the receivers. Look at the descriptions (short, deep). Look at the results. Tell me that this isn't a Chad Henne game. It is EVERY pass Tom Brady made this week.

if we were to replace henning we would get the same type of offensive coordinator to replace him. we will not get an aggressive mike martz type of OC. This is a Bill Parcells blueprint and Sparano and Ireland have built a team to control the clock not march up and down the field and breakneck speed. If you want a high flying offense then you need to fire the whole crew, and spend the next two years rebuilding the personnell to fit the new type of philosophy which is why I think its silly wishing to replace Henning now. He's one of the best at ball control and his replacement in all likelhiood will be far worse. Ask Carolina

Woah... I know I mentioned with a different HC/OC we may see a different Henne, but I'm in no way advocating that we do that. I'm quite content with how things are going. I was simply stating, I think we see him taking alot more chances, and trying to force things alot more as well. While it would be good to open things up more, as I said, you have to be willing to take the good with the bad.
