Maybe he didn't feel bad about it, but he had to apologize because of all the crazy bad press he got for it? I know, it's crazy to think like that...:shifty:

You figured they would put in the claim to ensure he didn't go all the way back to New England. But if they're taking chances like this and contacting him early could it mean they legitimately want to try to get him in Miami? That would be crazy. How good could this offense be with a real deep threat on the field.

He issued an apology statement. That was all there was to it. Stephen Ross said the issue was done with.

Well AFTER the fact, Ireland on his own, of his own idea, at a time when nobody was even talking about the incident anymore, sought Dez Bryant out to personally apologize to him when the teams met in preseason.

I think the most logical - and simple - explanation is this: The Dolphins heard about the incident and called Moss' agent to confirm it. End of story. For now.

He would probably not be more than an 8 game rental to be honest. He could potentially be more than that.

I think you pull the trigger, keep him away from the Patriots, and see what his attitude is like as far as playing for you.

    Uh oh...

That is not good. That report about Miami contacting Joel Segal had better be inaccurate.

Yeah. The Dolphins - along with the Jets - are probably the only teams that can sign an unhappy Moss. Because in their case, going through the hassle of suspending/fining/whatnot Moss actually achieves something.

Per Schefter - the order of teams that may have an interest:

    Notable waiver-order teams: Rams (13th), Raiders (14th), Redskins (15th), Seahawks (16th), Bears (17th), Dolphins (18th), Chiefs (25th).

you really think HALF of these people, that "apologize" publicly, actually mean it and you really think that half the time its something that someone else wrote for them to say? All that stuff that came out was taken out of context and blown way out of proportion (like i said earlier).

If he did nothing wrong then Ross wouldn't have demanded he issue a public apology. Nor would he have PRIVATELY sought Dez Bryant out to apologize to him. Emphasis on privately, as opposed to publicly.

Completely agree with this. I first thought a lot of teams would pass on him. But, I think that several teams will have an interest as it heats up. Should be interesting.

I don't think the Dolphins could pass on him. But, are Dolphin coaches smart enough and willing to actually hear what Moss has to say in game planning? As Belichick and Brady have noted, they believe Moss is a super intelligent player (though a head case - the two are not mutually exclusive), and I wonder if the Dolphins coaches are smart enough to let him have input and use him? I would hope so but sometimes the FO is arrogant and doesn't like being questioned.

May all be mute when some team ahead of us claims him.

I completely disagree. Ross is a business man. His business (or one of them, the Dolphins) was getting a TON of bad press for what Ireland said. Whether or not Ireland was right for asking the question became a moot point. The important thing was for him to apologize, and take the heat and bad press off of the Dolphins. I do not for one second think that Ireland's apology was about anything more than that. It happens all te time, that people have to swallow their pride and apologize for something that does not warrant an apology.

Question: Would it be allowed to trade a pick to someone to they don't sign the player you want? Suppose you tampered with the player's agent (they all do it anyway) and had a multi year deal in place. You also know from tampering that there's one team ahead of you that will put in a claim but just wants the rental. Can you trade them, say, a 5th for not picking the guy? Without telling anyone about the tampering, of course.

By the way: I'm hearing from a friend who knows someone who knows that the reason the Vikings haven't actually waived Moss yet is that they are looking for a way to get their pick back. Don't ask me how, I'm just passing it along.

Seriously, we don't throw to Brandon Marshall? How much **** are we going to throw at the wall here in hopes it sticks?

    NFL Leaders in targets:
    1. Terrell Owens 86
    2. Roddy White 82
    3. Brandon Lloyd 79
    Brandon Marshall 79

Throws up an interesting question about having Moss and Marshall in the same team , would that open the field up for the likes of Bess and Hartline ? Could any team double cover both of the M & M ? (if we sign him im claiming that name :P)

How would that possibly work? It's not like the guy had a secret injury the Pats didn't disclose.

Lookin at the teams ahead of us.....

    Rams (13th), Raiders (14th), Redskins (15th), Seahawks (16th), Bears (17th), Dolphins (18th), Chiefs (25th).

Think you take Rams, Raiders, Skins off the list. I would say take the Bears off as well...there offense is predicated by route running with Mike Martz...not really Randy's strength.

So...you look Sea Hawks and Phins...

Hope to hell he slips past Carroll...

Didn't Spielman once trade for a guy who was injured and we ended up getting something extra?

Lamar Gordon? I seem to remember this, am I totally off base?

Yep..read this over on Gang Green...

Supposedly they Vikings are trying to get the trade reversed....their pick back and Moss would go back to NE.

Cant see the NFL going for it....he played in two full games for the Vikings...that would make a horrible precedent.

They just said it would be stupid(and wouldn't make sense) if the Patriots so happened to get him back. Why would that be?
He knows the system,Pats save money on his remaining salary, they also got the draft pick too. Sounds like another Belicheck good move to me....

I'm hearing - again, just passing it along - that the Vikings are looking into potential "tampering issues". The way Moss played, behaved and talked on Sunday has them believing that he tanked the game on purpose. Might also be the reason they waived him to begin with.

Jason LaConfora is saying alot of GM's think he will pass through waivers and land back in NE.
