The Jets seem to be good at whippin up on "lesser" teams. But Detroit is pretty tough compared to years past...especially at home. I wouldn't bet my house on the Lions, but they have some big time players there, and it wouldn't shock me if they pulled out a win.
I watched the entire game. Sunday Ticket with multiple TV's is great. Now, once again, Sanchez has had a QBR of 60 and under in each of the last three weeks. Blame the wind, blame his WR's or blame Charlie Brown's "Great Pumpkin" and what we have here is a QB that is playing horrible. He has had one game this season where he's completed 60% or more of his passes. In three games this season he's completed less than 50% of his passes. For the year he's completed 53%. He was extremely lucky in his first few games in that DB's were dropping his passes. His luck seems to have run out as he's thrown 4 INT's in his last two games. The Jests are winning in spite of Sanchez. The media thought they had their new "Golden Boy" and thus talked him up. So far, he's nothing more than an inaccurate QB who dumps off ( Y/A is 6.2) and relies on his defense to make up for his short comings.
Holmes dropped a sure Td. Come on. He had no help yesterday. He was instrumental in the Pats and Miami wins. He was bad early in the Denver game, but played a good second half. I'm not saying he's great, but he's not as bad as you make him out to be. sent from my EVO 4G
Must have been watching another game...cause I saw that "dude" throw three balls right to Dolphin defenders that dropped them.
He is a second year player that had 16 starts in college. It's ******ed that the media hyped him as they have this year, but he's going to be a good player. Unfortunately.
Really? Because what I watched was him once again complete about 50% of his passes with numerous dropped INT's by our DB's. Like I said, he's been lucky.
He is a QB on a HEAVY run first offense that threw 14 TD's versus 20 INT's last year, and has had NUMEROUS INT's dropped already this year. Oh yeah, he also has a better line and better recievers than 95% of the QB's in the league, yet can't score a TD at home against a VERY beat up Green Bay defense.
Good post, summed up exactly how I feel. I think this will serve as a slap in the face, similar to Baltimore in week 1. It reminded me almost exactly of that game. Team trending downward (bad preseason vs. shaky wins over MIN and DEN) and coming out flat at home. Hopefully my boys can bounce back against the mighty Lions next week. I am expecting another great effort on defense and an improved Sanchez. This team needs to be better ****ing prepared though, and that is on Rex Ryan and the coaching staff.
It was very ******ed, but they are the media. As to him being good? Maybe, maybe not. He seems really inaccurate to me even though he has worlds of time in the pocket.
You forgot the drops...all six of them. The guy is pretty good. You see the touch pass to Dustin Keller on the run, jsut before he crossed the LOS? Very well done.
Don't be an ***. Did I say "or else we would have won the game"? What I said wasn't an excuse, it was a statement pointing out that Sanchez didn't "beat the Dolphin's asses". As a Jet fan, you think by now you would know what sour grapes and excuses after losing are.
I think that people want to see what they want to see. For whatever reason, a lot of Miami fans have a real boner for him. Before I started visiting this board, I never even thought of comparing Henne to Sanchez, but apparently this is a huge topic. FWIW, I couldn't make an informed opinion as to who is better at this point....and honestly, I don't really care. I don't need Sanchez to be better than Henne. I need him to be good on the NY Jets. End of story. He has played much better this year than last year and I am happy about that. He still has a lot of improving to do, but he is making progress. He didn't play great yesterday, but he played well enough to win. Holmes dropped a sure TD. The two INT's he threw were balls that were ripped out of his receivers hands...which happens. No excuses. But can we put those against the INT's that were dropped (another big topic on this board)? This stuff all has a way of evening itself out over the course of a year. I am sure more INT's will be dropped and I am sure more passes that should be caught will be deflected to a defender for an INT. Anyway, the Jets offense and coaching stunk yesterday. They turned the ball over in Packers territory twice, had horrible clock management, faked a punt on 4th and 18, and had receivers dropping balls all over the place. But I can't say Sanchez played poorly. If you guys want to pin it on him, have at it.
Saying one person on a football team beat another entire football team is dumb. Even for a Jests fan.
You are wasting your "breath" Did he single handedly beat the Dolphins? No. But he played a good game where he made one terrible decision on a screen pass. It's hard to agrue with 15/28 256 and 3 td's. It was one of his best performances this year.
Maybe because the media has anointed him savior before he's done anything? Should we nickname him Barack Sanchez?
Why do you think he's played better? The media tell you that? He's completing 53% of his passes. Just like last year. His Y/A is less than 6.5. Just like last year. He's averaging less than 200yds per game. Just like last year. He's got a sub-80 QBR. Just like last year. One facet of his game has improved, albeit because of DB's dropping INT's. His INT% is way down. However, in his last two games it seems that the INT-Machine of last season is back.
Bingo. Sanchez seems like a nice dude, but the media has made him into a superstar and he's done nothing to back that up. That's what bothers me most. I'm not saying he won't turn into a great player, but give me a break. He is dead last in the league in completion percentage.
And think about it...he's throwing to Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller and LaDainian Tomlinson and is dead last in the NFL with a 53% completion percentage.
I like sanchez just because he's mobile. I wish henne was a bit more like that. Having said that watching henne stand in that pocket yesterday while it collapsed was beautiful. Ill take that over mobility any day.
Wait. Did you mean "mobility" or "crippling fear of standing in a pocket"? At times, he seems scared out there. Like he hears footsteps that aren't really there. Especially yesterday. I think I'll take side-stepping elusiveness and stepping up in a pocket over just scrambling out immediately for the hell of it and risking a hold on offense. That said, Sanchez definitely has the talent to get away from people, but at the QB position I don't think it gets you anywhere (no pun intended) long-term (Mike Vick anyone?) Now, the quality of some of his bootleg throws is a whole different story. Some of those throws he made during the playoffs last year and a chunk of this year have been beauts.
