What are you talking about? Fasano dropped a pass that was a ****ty throw. Even if he caught it, he was turned around and had no forward momentum. It's a 2 yard gain at best, when he was WIDE OPEN. The second "drop" was tipped and the ball hit him while flipping end over end. It would of been an amazing catch. That's not a drop.
There both drops. The first one was tough, but has to be caught. The second one hit him in the chest. It can't get any easier than that.
We all know Dan Henning is old and stupid Running Ronnie on 3rd and 6 reinforces that theory 7 games one Marshall TD.
I agree, he should of caught the first one. Although it wouldn't have mattered anyway because of the ball placement. So it's really moot. The second one, the ball was tipped right before it hit Fasano. Not a drop. It's a deflection.
so you would pass with 7 minutes to go, an 8 point lead, and a defense that has just held the offense to 5 three and outs out of the last 6 series? seriously? if we had thrown even one pass, that would have given cincy another chance at the end of the game. instead we were able to run out the clock.
i'm talking about the catch or drop at the ten where he would have easily gotten to the five. which one are you talking about
gotta give it to the kid. first pro int was huge. the big story with him is his tackling is night and day from last year. and j allen didnt fall down once this entire game!
Its tough to say what Jason Allen did this game. After he gave up the TD to Owens he hardly saw the field.
I'm talking about that one too. The one where he had to stop and turn around. If he catches it, he's tackled. If Henne hits him in stride, it's a catch and maybe a TD. Those kind of goof ups are on the QB as much as his receivers.
agreed. it was on both. henne couldve thrown a better pass no doubt. i thought you swere absolving fasano completely. they both screwed the pooch on that one
first off, I wouldn't run the wildcat, and secondly YES I would try and make the first down run it straight up on first and second downs and see where you are on third and go from there you just came off a huge 90+ yard drive that you ran right over them. why wouldn't you just keep running at them?? the wildcat is just stupid in that situation why they insist on using the wildcat when you are moving the ball is just stupid play calling safe the wildcat when the offense is stalling and needs a kickstart
so you would pass with an 8 point lead when your defense is completely dominating the game (5 of the last 6 series were 3 and outs)and risk a sack, int or fumble rather thsan waste another 45 seconds
Wooooooooo! We had the let's go dolphins chant at the game. Shut the stupid obnoxious bengals fans up. Sent from my Samsung Moment via Tapatalk
you mean because Smith was in position to make a play and he did.... at the right time. That was important.
you have to play to WIN The game, you can always be content with hoping your defense can make a stop. you have to play smart the way they were running they would have a 3rd and short situation where a play action call could easily open up a 3-4 yard play. or even just run it again. the point is, the wildcat is just the way of throwing in the towel on the drive and putting it back on your defense to make a play you shouldn't be afraid to turn the a ball over. fumbles happen on running plays more often than passing plays. the staff has the mentality of "trying not to lose" where they should be "trying to win"
our defense was dominating. i will repeat....our defense was dominating. this about percentages. whats the better odds. that we throw for a 1st down or that the bengals march 80 yds for a td and a 2 pt conversion? the odds are run the clock as much as you ccan and force them to make the plays since they havent made any since the 1st qtr. its situational football based on personnell
so what part of situational football is deviating from whats working to trow in 2 plays that haven't worked in two years?? want talk about playing the odds?? the odds are the wildcat has provided ZERO benefit this year, and even last year run the ball straight up on first and second and make the call on third to see where you stand 3rd and 3, 2 or 1 then you run the ball 3rd and 4,5,6 take your chance with a play action pass that the defense is expecting you to just run anyway 3rd and long...just run the ball and hope for a first but expecting to punt sometimes you just have to play to win the game. none of these calls are reckless or low percentage calls. but they are plays that allow your team to win games. always expecting your defense to make the stop can backfire(look at last week) or the game before in green bay...etc
2-1 in last three and if it wasnt for the refs 3-0. i hear what you're saying where we (and in my opinion henning)deviate is how much trust we put in our offense. i would rather rely on our defense at this stage until the offense proves it can be relied upon. up to this point its been too inconsistent with the drops, poor running and interceptions. the only thing we can rely upon at this stage is good pass protection. once we can rely on our receivers getting oipen and catching the ball i think we can open it up. until then i say stay conservative
the point is, only so long can you keep playing with fire teams have shown that they can march down the field on this defense at the end of games why would you want to keep testing your defense, when you can keep the drive going on offense and win the game with the ball in your hand how many games have you seen this team win where the game finished in Hennes hands?? it was nice to see today.
if we can't trust the offense with the ball when it matters, then we don't be winning anything anytime soon All I'm saying, is that Henning, and these stupid plays he's calling isn't giving the offense a chance to succeed and prove that they can win games
Good thing for us Mr. Automatic makes everything and why shouldn't he with the calls Henning makes. Goldilocks gets lots of practice.
just because we cant trust our offense in week 8 doesnt mean we cant trust them week 10. we need to watch the team and see if they can improve to the point where they deserve trust. until then, play small ball and try to have our killer defense win games. i would compare it to the year where carolina went to the superbowl. the first half it was all running, the second half henning got comfortable with delhomme and started to let him air it out. they ended up in the superbpowl and were a field goal away from going into overtime. its all about keeping us in the chase and letting henne, the oline and receivers improve. once they do or some of them do we can open it up. just a difference of opinion
I want to know where the lack of trust comes from though. Is it about Henne because he is inexperienced. Is it because we don't trust our run blocking. Love to know what the source of all evil is. lol.
I agree with this but I think what we are seeing around now is what we are under Henning's offense. If the execution improves the plays will open up. I don't really think he is holding back at times. It looks like that is the identity unfortunately. I'm comfortable running the football because that is what the offense is built for. I have problems in certain situations to stray from tendencies when things work.... for instance the throw to Fasano on 3rd and 1 and the Ronnie run. Henning drops my jaw far too often and leaves me scratching my head but that is what he does and I learn to live with it. Kicking and screaming of course.
BUT TELL ME THAT REVERSE TO HARTLINE WOULDNT HAVE HAD EVERYONE SCREAMING HOW SENILE HE IS EXC EPT THAT IT WORKED AND EVERYONE SHUT UP I think the problem is the coaching staff isnt as high on our players as the fans are. not necessarily due to talent but it could be due to inexperience. i think you can see signs of the coaching staff wanting to open it up but they get burned when they do it so they scale it back. it will come. if we are this conservative next year i will buy the griping. this year i think conservative is the way to go. i'm a utah republican in a san francisco district lol
