He is kidding guys .He is the team clown and he runs off at the mouth once in a while like most comedians do.He gets laughs and sometimes he offends overly sensitive people or he is misrepresented as in this instance.

I really don't care what he said because he was joking around. That's just Crowder. And I fully get the double standard aspect because it is true. My thing is I refuse to fall into all of this Politically Correct nonsense that has been rammed down our throats over the last 20 years or so, so I don't get offended when people are goofing. The whole concept of being PC needs to go. It has made everyone too thinskinned and turned us into the United States of the Offended. Sure I believe you should be mindful of anothers feelings when you speak, but we shouldn't be walking around on eggshells either. In fact, I really think that this PC nonsense has done more to divide us than anything that has happened in my lifetime.

That we are talking in this forum about Crowder making a statement that would have gotten a white athelete in hot water is proof that the PC concept needs to go.

Sure, there's a double-standard as to who can say what. But I'm not sure how that's Crowder's fault. So when you consider the fact that he was joking, I'm not sure what everyone is so upset about.

I agree with you Muck that he is a guy that just likes to have fun. I think most people here would like to see more of him doing things on the field, instead of just running his mouth off the field.

 

I watched that history play out.. Replacing one set of double standards with another was, and is not, the goal of equality.

 

Of course, you also have to be careful what you read in those history books. For instance, history books don't tell you the truth that Martin Luther King was a plagerist or that Abraham Lincoln was a tyrant. Those are facts that are convienently left out.

All in all, though, considering the world history of the latter two thirds of the late century, I'm rather consoled that the things Lincoln did, or was purported to have done, were not reported, vilified, and pummeled by 21st century journalists and media. I do not like considering the alternative to history where the best North America would have to confront 1930's fascism would have been be a Balkanized continent.

Crowder's statements without the context or the inflection employed might be best described as "unfortunate." I don't know if he harbors a secret internal racism, but then again, none of us know what secrets we harbor within ourselves. I do know that from time to time silly people say silly things, unintelligent people say unintelligent things, and even intelligent people say the same type of things if considered in the worst possible light. And, what may be considered as humorous to some may be a source of offense for others. What we do know is that the words employed have produced a lot of others considering his intent and purpose. He may even be simply decrying the state to which the UF football team has fallen, a situation I celebrate.. My favorite college football team is FSU, and anyone playing Florida (except Alabama!)

That's a cop-out. I too don't care if another person points out a sterotype. As I wrote earlier, most stereotypes are true, but there are always exceptions.

Now, I realize that double standards exist in life. However, if people want to act like they have a right to a double standard, then they better be prepared for whatever consquences that come along with that way of thinking. Meaning, as long as black people feel as if they are owed something or can do things other races can't based upon a "history book" there will always be racism.

You guys do know that most white lb's in college aren't the next Brian Urlacher, Clay Matthes or Zach Thomas.

Crowder is a quality starter. His presense helps the team a lot. They are much better with him than without him. Could Miami upgrade the position? Sure they can, however when not injured, he is a pretty decent player.

he has made a lot of big plays, since I have big plays as being more than just stats people read. A good third down stop is a big play in my book.

Nope he is a scrub. Not a quality starter at all just an unstructured athlete with a big motor who runs around out there. Making a stop on third down is his job. How about a game changing play like I see coming from other ILB's in this league. You know some gravy on top of the potatoes. It has been five years plus and I'm yet to see that. When a group of people act as if they are either superior or deserve special treatment based upon their race and then at the same time expect the exact same treatment from those they wish to take advantage of, they will be met with scorn, hostility and contempt.
