Underestimating the Spurs, huh? I don't think the Spurs are finish yet. Also, didn't the Heat play awful in the 1st quater?
How are they better than in the NFL where there is a hard cap and franchise tags? And how many all-stars have won championships in their first 5 years? The system isn't nearly as flawed as MLB - but there is a downside to players working together and only wanting to play for a few select teams because of market size or weather. The Heat are on top right now and Miami is a great destination so it works in favor for them - but you need the league to be healthy as a whole to continue.
I do. That roster is in decline at the same time the Trail Blazers, Thunder, and—gasp—the Mavericks are on the rise. The field is too crowded and Tim Duncan is getting too old. They did, yes. But even with that awful first quarter, if the Heat score just 3 more baskets, they win that game. What does that say about Boston? They played 4 quarters to the Heat’s 3 and barely won.
I dunno lotsa Heat fans already project a title this yr and beyond........there is no timetable with such a dynamic trio....atleast that's what I've heard from Heat fans since July
Mavericks on the rise? From where? Being ousted by S.A. 4-2 last year? Sure OKC is good but what has Portland ever done?
Boston played a bad quarter as well and you can easily say 'if the Celtics score just 3 more baskets, they win by even more'.
I don’t think that happens this year. Same as Dallas, I don’t think Portland is quite as disappointing this year. They’re the Chicago of the West except they’re actually as talented as their hype would suggest. I think there’s going to be quite a bit of playoff turnover this year in the middle to late Seeds.
gee idk they only beat san antonio 6 of the last 7 games.. the spurs are done. tony parker is leaving, ginobli will get hurt, duncan is over the hill...... when healthy no team can compete with portlands size except the lakers. and we have seen size wins championships
Man IDK bro. Splitter is a great talent and will probably be the next great center in the NBA. Manu is healthy this yr and Jefferson started to play well towards the end of the yr.
Exactly. Celtics fans are bragging about this? They should be worried that it took 30% shooting by the opponent for them to eke out a win. Can’t wait to hear your reaction to Friday night’s game.
That's the Celtics' M.O., though. They lead by 20 a lot, only to win by 3. That happens when your offense is as inconsistent as theirs. It's too early to be reading into the whole season based on one game, but it's also impossible to get a "moral victory" out of "almost" beating Boston. Their standard game is to lead big and barely win or lead big and lose.
Sure, but their defense is championship caliber. That’s what I’m trying to point out: the Heat’s 30% shooting was on them, not the Celtics defense. A couple more baskets and the Heat win. Only if you think the Heat are going to shoot 30% on the season, and I don’t even need to point out how silly that is.
As was the 4 billion "were the greatest team ever" remarks when this team had never stepped onto a court. Like i said this team will still win 50 games and make the playoffs but some of the fans needed a reality check. Nice work Celts.
Please point out when any member of the Miami Heat said they were the greatest team of all time. 50 games? More like closer to 70. I’ve got them penciled in for 69 wins. More claim chowder bookmarking.
Im not talking about the team, Im talking about its fans numnuts!!! You just like the #69, surely that hippie lettuce ur smoking has u offcentered. Heat 58-25...... KNICKS 82-0
I think that Miami's "Big 3" is good for the league in the short-term, but I think the league would have been better off as a whole if LeBron had either stayed put or gone to New York. I am biased, though: I'm a Lakers fan (live in LA) and only enjoy watching LeBron on Sportscenter. I think his teams are incredibly boring to watch. He's going to dribble out the shot clock and either put his head down and go to the rim (and usually the free throw line) or he's going to pass to a teammate who has to put up a desperation shot. The Heat were my team in the East, but I'm not a fan of the isolation offense, and consequently, I'm not a fan of LeBron. I was ecstatic when Bosh and Wade signed on, and I was not-so-ecstatic when LBJ joined them. (And no, I wasn't a fan of isolation when Kobe used to do it a lot. Luckily, Phil Jackson isn't a fan of isolation, either).
Heat @ Celtics was the most watched basketball game on cable television ever. LeBron in Cleveland or New York doesn’t do that.
What does that say for the long term prospects of the NBA? Nothing or next to nothing? Long term, you're going to need people in multiple NBA cities interested, and you're going to need several teams that draw well on the road. IMO, a strong New York team is a necessity for a strong NBA. Maybe Melo next year will help, if the league has a next year. A lot of people tuning into the NBA for the first time to watch the Heat are going to realize that LeBron's game is ideal for Sportscenter in short bursts and ideal for treating insomnia when watched as whole games. JMO, of course...
Why not NY? He paired with Amare wouldve been a damn good duo? Im sure in NY the ratings wouldve been every bit of the same. .......only the Knicks woulda WON!
Anyone watching the Clippers-Blazers game? Jeez, Blake Griffin looks very good. Doing a bit of everything. Baron Davis looks sloppy. I think the inexperience of the Clippers is showing a bit. Either that or the game plan is not being executed because they need to be an inside-out team, not outside-in IMO. They've got a lot of talent down low.
