If they were ever gonna wip out the Wildcat play package with Thiggy in it...its now. The Steelers may be caught off guard by his ability to not only run BUT THROW. Thoughts?

I don't know, we're not really reeling in the offensive categories.

Steelers are really good at forcing fumbles. I don't mind if they throw a bunch, just don't get too cute in the backfield.

Throwing, OK, but you let this little dude run against the Steelers, and your offensive coordinater needs fined 75,000.....don't forget, this is a defense your going against that made Chris Johnson quit in week 2! Our defense is rated R, and it's best not to even let your children watch Sunday, especially with a pissed-off James Harrison having an extra rest day.

Ron Brown, Rick Williams, Larry Zonka, this Pigpen guy, it doesn't matter. When you run the ball against Pittsburgh, you are just wasting a down.

    Me likey!

If Tim Tebow can run it, why couldn't thiggy?

Especially if Beast was the Wr and maybe lil' Beast, that would allow Thiggy to have two huge targets to throw to if they Cb blitz.

lets remember that the only reason Pitt won last year is because sparono put in white instead of Thigpen. we completely shut down their offense in the second half if that 3rd qtr wasent led by white we would have won. remember how thigpen brought us back. yes he throw pics but if he didnt have so little time to come back from like 13 aginst the steelers it would have been diffrent.

I guess we should just forfeit the game right now, I mean the Steelers are so damn good and have zero flaws. We should just lay down and let them have our way with us.

if our offensive line fails to dominate the Steelers defensive line,
Thigpen in the WildCat may be our only alternative to win the game.
everything begins in the trenches. :deadhorse:
you need to establish the run to open the passing game.

If you put Thigpen in, neither Henne or Pennington will be able to play the rest of the game. Time to retire the wildcat.

Tired of the gimmicks, show me an offense that can line up and get the job done without all the trickery. The sooner we get away from all this wildcat hoopla the better IMO.

    Back in Miami
    Amen brother.

It served it's purpose, covered for our offensive weakness one year and gives Miami another historic moment in NFL history. Adjustments have been made and our offensive personnel have grown bigger than the need for the gimmick.

Pull it out every once in a while like a reverse but the regularity of it and the calls in crucial situations needs to stop.

No, keep the WC, but expand upon it.

The idea of the ThigCat unveiled against the Steelers and featuring passing sounds darn good to me at least.

The one thing that has to happen is the WC Qb has to also be a credible threat as a Wr, that way the Defense has serious matchup troubles, does the Qb stay flanked as a Wr? Do they go into motion and take the snap and then throw it?

This line up in the WC and run for 4 yds is just not very effective.

We were ranked next to last in TD's scored, we are in no danger of supplanting the Panthers for that dubious distinction.

So?... that doesn't mean we can't score even LESS TDs with Thiggy coming in..... or that we won't turn the ball over even more considering he thows an INT every 4.7 passes in Miami (3 INTs in 14 attempts).... and for every 2 completions, he throws an INT.

Henne on the other hand has 5 TDs in 13 attempts in the redzone (or 38%). Peyton Manning has 9 TDs, but had 34 attempts to do so (26%).
    Brees: 7 TDs in 36 attempts (19%)
    Brady: 8 TDs in 21 attempts (38%)
    Rivers: 7 TDs in 34 attempts (20%)
    Rodgers: 6 TDs in 26 attempts (23%)
    Romo: 7 TDs in 22 attempts (32%)
    Schaub: 7 TDs in 21 attempts (33%)
    Eli: 6 TDs in 20 attempts (30%)
    Orton: 5 TDs in 41 attempts (12%)

    Ryan: 7 TDs in 32 attempts (22%)
    Flacco: 4 TDs in 23 attempts (17%)
    Sanchez: 5 TDs in 26 attempts (19%)
    Cutler: 3 TDs in 17 attempts (17%)
    Bradford: 5 TDs in 31 attempts (16%)
    Freeman: 3 TDs in 13 attempts (23%)

Henne isn't the problem. He's actually making the most of his opportunities compared to everyone in the league except for Garrard IIRC.

We're 12th in YPG and 2nd in 3rd down conversion %, so gaining yards and converting is not our problem. Our problem is not having a true deep threat or an explosive player who can stretch the field or turn routine catches into long TDs (Marshall isn't enough). Teams who are putting up points have guys like these who are capable or scoring from more than 20 yards out. Bringing in Thiggy will do nothing to improve any of these areas, nor will he improve our WC running game. If Tyler runs a sub 4.4 and can catch, then I'd love to see him come in!!

    Sorry, I'll pass. lol.

I say either run the REAL wildcat the right way or scrap it. Thiggy is a great athlete and may really add something. I say go for it. But I'd put Henne and Thiggy in the formation and let the defense try and figure out of it is going to be a regular play or the wildcat. With a quick shift Henne could become a receiver and Thiggy could be the QB. If you run this with double tights you would give the defense fits of rage trying to figure it out.

If I was running the offense I would put different people and use different shifts / men in motion in the wildcat and let the LB's go crazy stutter stepping. I would run it with tackle eligible's, double tights, and use the WR's to flood zones in crossing routes. There are a ton of things that Henning COULD be doing, but he is not. Our offense is so vanilla that it is almost predictable and that's not helping Henne either.

Outside of the Wildcat, I don't want to see any Pitches on 3rd downs, or double reverses.

Hell, if they do it and it works, shame on me - but those plays have been pretty craptastic so far for us.
