If the Jags were shopping Sims-Walker, and just wanted a late round pick, i think he would have been gone by now. I am not saying we should make a trade for the numerous players in this thread, but if there is a WR that would improve our team for a 5th, 6th or 7th, we take that and not look back.

I am not saying that I would prefer Ted Ginn over the names mentioned above.I would not but he was on the team already and his kickoffs returns were much better than what we have now.On other words he was shipped out without an adequate replacement .Perhaps they thought they had one in Sheets .Who knows.

I talked with a scout last week who said the Dolphins lacked a deep receiving threat and you'd see safeties creeping up a couple steps as the year goes on to (a) squeeze the middle of the field where Brandon Marshall does his best work, and (b) be a step or two closer for run support.
"I hate to say who they could use," the scout said.
    "Who?" I said.
    "Ted Ginn."
Sunday night, Ginn was healthy for the first time with San Francisco.. And this scout is right. There was GInn running deep behind the Philadelphia safeties in the fourth quarter. QB Alex Smith didn't see him, but Ginn contributed two catches for 27 yards in a more fitting role as a down-the-line option (Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore ...) in which his speed can keep defenses honest.
The other role he fits perfectly in San Francisco is as the return man. No surprise there. Sunday night, he returned kickoffs 44, 23, 35 and 61 yards. What's more, he wasn't running out of bounds* (though he did on the final punt of the game.) All of those kickoff returns were more than the 20th-ranked Dolphins' average of 21.6 yards

I actually think we will see this develop more and more through the year....

Wallace could be seeing alot more playing time at WR the second half....

I wish we could trade for a weapon X type player in the Percy Harvin mold. It is just so dangerous to have a player that given the glint of light...can hit it and be gone. THATS the one thing missing from our team right now. Ted Ginn had the speed for that...but he didnt seem to have the quickness needed to make that one or two move and then BAM!!!

Im gona start the Dolphins draft Noel Devine bandwagon.....I just think a player like that along with a RB like Ronnie Brown...and our recievers would make our offense a complete demon to deal with.

I heard Roberto Wallace runs a 4.4 forty. If Hartline continues to underwhelm, then I see Hartline on special teams (which would be great BTW) and Wallace taking his #2 position.

TE is obviously the greater need.

Surprisingly stupid, considering it was Dave Hyde.

Nolan Carroll's averaged 27 yards on his 2 kickoff returns and the job is currently his. That's better than Ginn's career average. And we'd have to give Nolan 75 kick returns without him busting one for a touchdown before we could fairly assess that he's less likely than Ted Ginn to break off a touchdown return.

And yeah there's a reason Ted Ginn runs behind the secondary. They don't respect him. Could that be because he produced a paltry 5.2 yards per attempt on throws that went 20+ yards in 2009?

How long does this guy have to play like a sopping wet vagina before people stop trying to make him sound like a valuable football player? He wasn't running out of bounds? What game was Dave Hyde watching? 2 catches for 27 yards and he's a ****ing hero all the sudden?

That's Ted Ginn in a nut shell. The perfect player for folks that like to lower their standards.

We shall see how much SD wants to keep him now. There will be no playing hardball with him once he returns, and thats almost when the season is done..

It's good to see the players association give the guy some good advise.

The trade deadline is next Tuesday, so what I’ve been saying all along—that the Chargers never wanted or intended to trade Jackson—still holds true. He’d be gone otherwise.

Now, whether they retain Jackson for 2011 is another issue. They clearly want him around but didn’t want to give him the $11 million per year he’s seeking due to the possibility of a lockout. It’s impossible to tell whether or not they’ll be able to retain Jackson since there may not be a franchise tag system in the new CBA.

I suspect the NFLPA might yield on a rookie wage scale in exchange for the abolishment of the tagging system, or at least a concession that the tag just amounts to a one-year contract offer and the player is still free to sign with another team if he so desires.

Well assuming this is just the fevered imagination of a gambling degenerate, why wouldn't Lil Beast be used more often?

If Henning is dying to run a end around, pitch the ball to Wallace, it is not like Defensive Coordinators will be up late at night trying to figure out how to stop him.

He could he seems to have mastered the proper steroid regi..err..he has worked really hard on improving his quickness...:shifty:

The difference would be, Wallace is 6'5 235/4.4 speed, who would you rather have coming around the edge on a end around?

Wallace is as large and as fast as Ronnie Brown, why not use him instead of pat cobbs?

I think we could use more speed at the WR position and it certainly would help if we traded for someone that could return kicks and provide speed at the WR position.

I didnt read all the other posts(7pages), but we need a burner on our team(a core special teamer). We lost our fastest player in TC. I cant remember his name, he was RB, but this team needs a burner. If he can get behind safeties, catch a pass, or welcome contact, that would be a plus.

If certain people didn’t disagree with the conclusion, then there wouldn’t have been so much back and forth over the topic.

Isn't it a tad ironic that the Mort story about Mankins and Jackson comes out the week before the trade deadline?

No, I don’t think there’s a coincidence at all. The NFLPA entered into this because there was some confusion over how Jackson would handle coming off the roster exempt list and still earn a season of credit towards free agency. Same with Mankins, minus the roster exempt list nonsense.

Our blocking needs to get better no doubt, but Steve Smith is a flat out much better returnman. When Bess does get space, he does nothing with it. Steve Smith does...

It’s not that I “knew it all,” it’s that all the available evidence pointed toward the conclusion that the Chargers were not willing to trade Jackson and that any interest in making a deal came from outside the Chargers organization, not inside. Opinion that the Chargers would eventually deal Jackson was based on a formulaic response based on past situations in which a player held out over a contract—“he’s going to be a free agent next year anyway, he doesn’t want to be there, the team will probably get something for him instead of letting him walk”—rather than an analysis of what was actually going on.

I make no apologies for correctly deducing the outcome of the Vincent Jackson trade drama weeks ahead of time.

Would make some sense as well, large contract, 3 yr rebuild, winless team.

Beast told the Staff he was being covered:

over the top by a safety
in a trail position by a Cb
    underneath by a linebacker

In either the Jets or Patriots game...

    4th round conditional pick perhaps?

Revis will probably be playing the next time we see NY, and the Pats have an inexperienced secondary........ so IMO an upgrade at #2 WR could be a good move to help beat these two bozos.
