Anyone watching the game would have seen the play. Vontae Davis 0 touchdowns allowed Darrelle Revis 2 touchdowns allowed
1st touchdown [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUeWoDHtNTE"]YouTube - Randy Moss One Handed Touchdown Catch vs New York Jets (HD)[/ame] 2nd touchdown right now vs Percy Harvin.
oh so your counting all season? ya well.....and revis hasnt even played every game like vontae. Vontae >>>> Revis!!!!
Revis also got victimized by Harvin in what should have been a game winning pitch and catch by Favre. I'd go to Revis Island ANY day before I'd walk into Vontae's Inferno! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In Revis' defense on that play prior to the INT where you say he got victimized, Revis fell down with a good shove by Harvin.
Revis deserves all the criticism he gets for missing all of training camp and thinking he can just walk in and not miss a beat.
1. Is Revis the best CB in the AFC east? I think Davis is playing better right now. 2. Revis is suppose to miss next week with his injured hammy.
Revis will only get better. That makes me even more concerned about the Jesters. Percy is also amazing. We were fortunate he wasn't 100% against us. I see him as a more explosive Steve Smith, and had someone told me that was possible from a WR when watching him in Carolina years ago I would have laughed. We were so close to having a shot at Percy too.....
Revis will not be 100% all year, and it's his own damn fault. I don't even know why he was on the field on Monday night. My guess is that Ryan figured a 70% Revis covering the slot receiver is better than a 100% Kyle Wilson. He's probably right, but still. If I were the Jets, I would shut him down until he was truly 100% healthy. If that means the last game of the season, so be it. I don't see the point in risking further injury, especially when he is no better than your average CB at this point.
Not at this point he isn't. He's not even the best on his team right now, and that's A LOT coing from me as I don't think all that much of IBM.
He's the best cornerback on his team. If he's healthy, he's the best on his team easily. I still don't think highly of Cromartie. He's a good cornerback when vertically challenged but horizontally? Hardly IMO. Btw, I'm going to give you a phone call tomorrow (if thats ok?), most likely. Been a while since we spoke.
Yep, so far it looks MUCH like this! His contract holdout is going to cost him LOTS of snaps of they don't hold him out for extended time. A bad hamstring on a CB is as bad as a rotator cuff for a QB. If he keeps hurting it, it likely will lead to other things (knees?).
Weekend would be better if you can wait. If not, hit me up with PM prior please. - And I agree, when healthy, he's DAMN good, but he's not, and he's not going to be if they keep playing him. Hammies can be tricky, and long-winded if not taken care of. Cro (AKA, Illegitimate Baby Maker or IBM from now on) is fine while the ball is in the air....but that's the only trick he knows
Cromartie has been playing above average, believe it or not. If Revis were healthy, it would be a damn good secondary.....but Revis isn't and they are not. They are average, which doesn't cut it when you blitz as much as Ryan does.
Yeah I watch quite a bit of the Jets. Spent some hours just watching coverages and blitzes lol. I completely agree on all points though.
Right, and I agree. If it weren't for the fact that dirty snatcho actually realized which team he was supposed to throw to, you guys wouldn't be looking at 3-1 right now. But, whatever works, works.
Cro's problem is just consistency. He looks like the best damn CB in the league for half the game, then gets beat on a long one that he had been shutting down all game to that point. A good point was made in that Cro does seem to be playing well against vertical passing, but he can be had against horizontal routes. Revis has been struggling all year so far, he really doesn't look right and I think Bick had the right idea in just shutting him down till he is 100%. Better to lose a game or two in the season than in the playoffs where he will be really needed. I also have to wonder though if he is a guy who just played above and beyond himself for a season and then struggles to match it again.
There's a lot of inconsistent cornerbacks in this league IMO. Even some of the ones that are considered the better ones are inconsistent. That's a tough position to establish consistency IMO. Cromartie is slow out of his breaks and he does not tackle well IMO. Attack him horizontally is the way to go.
Well, he is not Physical AT ALL (Anybody have the gif of him actually stopping when it was he and Ronnie near the goal-line?). My point is he is very good while the ball is in the air, if he has to tackle the man AFTER he has the ball, not so good. Good game plan is to get him involved with contact early and often, whether with outside runs or WR screens, and he fades quickly. This was well documented when he was in SD and I am surprised more teams aren't going after that gameplan.
Currently Revis is probably the 4th or 5th best corner in the AFC East. Cromartie and Davis are clearly playing better right now. Shame what his greed has done. We won't see the good Revis until possibly very late in this season or next year.
He's got that FatCat-itis. Albert Haynesworth can probably give him some advice on how to shake it. oh right.
I don't think Revis is as lazy has Haynesworth, but I think it's wishful thinking to expect 09 Revis in the near future.
No, I dont think Revis will end up like Fat Albert. There is zero doubt that the hold out is going to seriously hurt both him and the team though.
It's possible that he's still not right from the hammy and it's the reason for his play. It's also possible that he stopped caring as much since he got his payday. You should know better than most, as that seemed to be Kerry Rhode's exact problem, though he's having a pretty good year in Arizona.
Revis has enough of a career ahead of him to know that he still needs to perform. No way do I think he stopped caring. Please.
For a physical corner who holds, grabs, pulls, and shoves himself very often (so does Vontae and every other "physical" cornerback) I don't think that's an excuse. But yeah.... Revis Island = 3 TD's given up so far this season in limited action. Great to see. Still, as great as Vontae Davis has been, and he has been great, and I wouldn't trade him for the world.... when 100% healthy, Revis is still the best CB in football. He's not perfect though. No one is. He's commended as if he's perfect, but there's no such thing as a perfect player. Even Teddy Ginn can get him with the pump and go.
Never did I say he stopped caring. But to think it's not possible that his play falls off a bit after getting paid, especially after that exact thing just happened to Rhodes, would be rather foolish.
