Can be had for a late round pick supposedly, thoughts??

Mike Sims-Walker could be on the trading block, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Sims-Walker has two games with zero catches this year and is apparently losing snaps to Tiquan Underwood. A trade would make sense for both sides, although Sims-Walker wouldn't bring back anything more than a late-round pick. For now, leave MSW on your bench and see how this plays out.

Watch the Pats pick him up.

Tully Banta-Cain, and Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis would both approve.

    What would be the point?
Then we'd have 2 quality WR being used mostly as decoys.....:escape:

MSW would not fit in with the Wr corps, whose place would he take, Hartline's?

For a late round pick I'd do it in a heartbeart. The more weapons for our young QB the better.

Wouldn't be opposed to it at all if it really could happen for a late-rounder. I like the WR corps of Marshall and MSW, with Bess in the slot and Hartline as the 4th guy than I do the WR corps of Marshal and Hartline, with Bess in the slot and Roberto Wallace.

So long as we settle for turning into a passing offense...that all seems to be up in the air atm...

Depends on what you mean by “passing offense.” If you mean “pass frequently” then we’ll probably never be that under Sparano. Henne’s high pass attempts last season were due to us trailing in games, or needing to keep pace with high powered offenses.

If you mean “a team that relies on great passing to win”, welcome to the NFL, because all 32 teams need that.

We’re not in the Sims-Walker market. Nor would we be in the Jones-Drew market if he became available. Doesn’t fit what we want to do.

What does not fit? Trading for a good player for lets say, a bargain price, is what all teams want to do.

Because you then have four receiver mouths to feed when the head coach wants to increase our amount of rushing attempts. Which WR do you give up on to get Sims-Walker? The obvious candidate is Hartline, but that’s premature.

Oh, and it also takes away from Fasano, and we know how Henning and Sparano like to target Fasano.

I dont care what they "like" to do. If targeting MSW is a better option than targeting Fasano... you target MSW. Period...

And theres nothing premature about giving targets to MSW over Hartline. Its no knock on Hartline, or a huge demand to upgrade over Hartline who is a young solid player. But you play your best guys, and always try to improve every area of your team whenever possible, especially if it presents good value...

MSW for a late round pick is good value, and a nice upgrade.

Great, now go convince Sparano and Ireland of that. It’s their train of thought I’m relaying.

Me, I’d trade for Sims-Walker right now. Jack Del Rio wouldn’t even be able to play MSW in the 4th quarter because he wouldn’t technically be a Jaguar any longer.

Also, Marshall and Walker would not fit among each other for targets. These guys played together before, and are best friends off the field. Like I said, Walker was Marshall's best man in his wedding.

Having four good Wr's with mouths to feed is a GREAT thing though. You don't get rid of Hartline unless it's via a trade that's worth it. You cut either Moore, or Wallace and play the better Wr's.

It won't take anything away from Fasano. The 3rd Wr has as many catches as him, and they've gone to the number 3 Wr more so it would be nothing more than competition between 2 Wr's for playing time.

I don't think there's any truth to this rumor. If he could be had for a late round pick, he would have been traded by now. He's the best they got.

Their train of thought is to go to the TE? Because I can't tell with the one, two and three Wr's all having been targeted more.

They like to use the TE, sure, but what they really like to do is run the ball, stretch the field with outside passing which opens up the middle. A Wr, and or the TE can be the middle target but it's all about making the defense overload a certain area, then take advantage.

Just trade for Sims-Walker, start Thigpen and go full run and shoot/spread offense. Wouldn't be a good idea, however the Dolphins offense would be very exciting.

    Boston, MA...
I am speaking to the effect of finding an identity on offense regardless of what the other 31 teams in the NFL employ. Last year, easily a run first/run oriented offense. Marshall arrives and critics/fans begun to wonder...1) are they still a run first team with Marshall getting people off the line or 2) they are now a pass first team (ex: Colts) with the run complementing that form of attack? Fast forward to today where it is unclear whether we are a run first or a pass first team based on the last two games. Please do not say we are merely passing because we are behind as there has been a greater emphasis on the pass recently (ie the past two weeks). With that in mind, I digress back to my original comment...if we are now a pass first team in terms of identity on offense then go after him.

he is the best they got but he hasnt been targeted, heck there was two games where he didnt register a single catch. He is unhappy and the Jags are playing other WRs instead of him

I would love this move, I have seen marshall and bess define their roles, sims walker would be excellent at the #2 with marshall and bess next to him..

I would be all over this if I was Ireland, especially because I believe we need doses of good chemistry on this team..I believe in that...he's young, has roots, and if its inexpensive he should be on our list, cause you know we are on his.

Does not make you correct either way. Never once did I say they go after him. Not even a link was provided by the OP, and he even said supposedly.

I simply say your wrong with thinking you know the way this team runs things.

When Sparano comes out and says Desides was right then get at me.

totally agree, and it would keep him out of New England, which is worth a low pick to me... i could see him getting very involved in their passing game with Moss gone.

If they'll accept the 5th rounder we got for Ted Ginn, I'd do it. In a heartbeat.

Chad Henne gets the ball to the perimeters of the field. Mike Sims-Walker is a perimeter player. Right now Garrard favors Mike Thomas because he's more an interior player and Garrard is not a guy that works the perimeters I don't think.
