Those who watched this game, even when wins it, has to ask "what if they were just more disciplined"?
Sloppy, but like Desides said, Death Valley is in no way an easy place to play. I'll take a 9 point win against a conf opponent.
I'm glad Jacory didn't throw any more picks after those first two, and Clemson managed to lose the ball 6 times. It's nice to come away with a win, even though the score should have been at least 41 points for us. Death Valley is one of the loudest stadiums in the country, so it's great for the team to come away with a road win there. Nowhere near being a contender for a National title, but I'll take the win. Headed in the right direction for a first ACC Championship.
The Canes should win ugly for the rest of their schedule. ACC championship title and a BCS bowl game are not unreasonable expectations. This team likely won’t be elite as long as Shannon is coaching, but placing top five in the polls at the end of each season from this one forward isn’t an unreasonable goal. Then, Shannon’s successor can put the team over the top.
VT down 14-0 early...they lose and Miami is the only team in the Coastal without a conf loss...possibly a down year for the Coastal?
Every year is a down year for the ACC. It’s not exactly the elite conference its creators envisioned.
Yeah Miami's program is not exactly flush with money. We have Randy for better or for worse. He makes the Lady (Shalala) happy. His kids don't get into trouble, and they are doing great in school (3rd best in the NCAA). As long as this is happening, The Lady will allow her Black Knight to champion her football team.
I thought Lamar Miller played well too. I thought Mike James did well too. Berry did a ton of dancing. The biggest issue that I have with the Hurricanes tailbacks over these last few years is how weak their ankles are. Yep, Hankerson has become a quality wide receiver. Really has improved his concentration and wrists it seems. He's going to be a nice pick for someone. Jacory Harris is a mess but so is that line and so is Travis Benjamin. Benjamin has still not learned how to play WR and he'd probably be a best bet as a slash player with KR/PR skills. What has happened to Aldarius Johnson? He's a nobody now. Talk about a guy that came in with so much potential. Tommy Streeter showed why he's not on the field. He can't be trusted.
It was great to see Spence continue his solid play as well...goes to show how injuries really slowed him down last season.
Yep. He just needs to stay off blocks and keep his weight up. He's not very tall, probably just under 6'0" but he is very bright and has good instincts. Great FBI IMO. Teams like Tennessee, Tampa, Indy, will look at him closely IMO.
Miami-FSU will be the prime time ABC game next week...that means Gameday will be coming to MIA, right?
Well this may not be popular, but will not be a National Title Champion with Randy Shannon as the Head Coach, the team will always be good to very good, Shannon just is not good enough at ensuring they cover the fundamental jobs are always done well.
Every year it's a great game between them...it's ridiculous how close they have played each other the past 10 years.
Nothing has changed Alen, I think people are caught up with comparing Shannon and his recruits to the later part of Larry Coker's time and his recruits. Step back and look, 3 penalties on punt coverage will win a national title? How many of those "top rated" recruits flamed out? Do you feel Jacory Harris has stepped up his Qb play, or slid backwards? This team has all of the markings of 8-4, and a peach bowl, that they probably will lose in.
Miami on ESPN Classic all day (literally), with classic matchups between the Canes and the Seminoles until 10pm. Then they're showing 'The U' documentary.
This will be a perennial top 10-15 ranked football team that can't get over the hump for quite some time. I also can't see Shannon ever coaching this team to a title. Again, I love the guy and aside from rooting for the team first and foremost I really root for HIM.... but he's still making some of the same game day mistakes he made as a first year coach.
Unfortunately since we have the most pathetic fan base in the country for a top program.... they're heading to Columbia for #1 Alabama @ #20 South Carolina. I was looking forward to holding up a sign that says "ESPN ****ing Sucks" with a photoshopped picture of Kat Stacks & Lee Corso on it but I guess that will have to wait until Miami/Ohio State next year.
He should get his own butt down there and get at these receivers. Talk about wasted talent. It's like everyone who isn't Hankerson on that corps needs a long overdue wakeup ***-kicking.
Most. Overrated. Receiver. To. Ever. Play. At. The. U. It's been 3 years. You'd think a light might/should come on soon. Dude can't even hold on to punts at times.
