Most frustrating prospect I've seen this season so far? South Carolina OT DeMarcus Love. One play he looks like an elite LT with 2nd and 3rd kick steps really quick, good shoulders, sits down in his stance. Next he's whiffing and falling on his face, leaning and falling over at the 2nd level and his balance is atrocious.
Arkansas...yeah I know all those states are alike from the UK.....looks top heavy to me....reminds me a bit of King Dunlap......funny set, really bent at the waist sitting on his hammies .... me thinks he has not been coached the best.........lots and lots of skills though.
Yeah but this guy is getting a top 15 grading Ray and he's so damned inconsistent. You couldn't start him as a rookie and he actually looks worse at RT.
Did not know he was getting top 15 type grades ... way ....WAY too high I agree.....I would slot him right now around 50-65..........
Yeah way too high.....I have no idea where guys are ranked for the most part....well actually at all......I do not read the reports intentionally. That is probably why I am more disagreeable than most, I prefer to go with what I see. Which is good and bad, ..... almost 100% of the time I cannot see enough to frame the most informed accurate opinion and end up prefacing everything with "from what I see"......but also I do not get sidetracked or influenced by other peoples opinions, which is a good thing.
Got a bit excited about the Texas LT Kyle Nix early against Texas Tech as he showed terrific balance against the big Tech DE who's shifted up from ILB especially with his terrific balance against spin, but he has ZERO strength and therefore can't play at the next level till he can use physicality. I have concerns about the two senior corners, the two Browns and Sam Acho's not even the best Acho on his team. Malcolm Williams is scary; not a great effort guy, has good acceleration and can get leverage on the inside shoulder of the corner but is an inteference blocker and a sloppy route runner. Oh and his hands are awful. Still like Detron Lewis. Love the size, the physicality, he runs good routes and he snatches the ball out of the air.
watching tcu vs smu. have to say very impressed with LOT JR Kevin Beachum. TCU's LOT Marcus Cannon has trouble with speed to the outside but looks good other than that
TCU Center Jake Kirkpatrick is also impressing. He is getting great drive on run plays, is displaying nice feet in getting to the second level and playing well in pass protection. Someone to keep an eye on in the late rounds
Ray, watched Pitt-Miami this morning. I can see why Baldwin is playing the way he is: that's some of the worst QB play I've seen in Division 1 and the OL isn't helping. Neither is Dion Lewis and he's triple covered on every play. Miami were rolling coverages all game to him and when you have top 10 talent it must be frustrating as hell.
I'm watching GT/NCSU, and trying to keep an eye on Bryan. Russell Wilson looks really good. Not sure if it is the D or what.
man andrew luck looks so good. just amazing. he can throw on the run, he has escapability in the pocket, senses pressure well, great coverage recognition, quick release, accurate. I hope the Bills dont get him
you know the guy that i thought would do well in the pros? bruce davis. really surprised he cant stick with a team
Just rotating between the Stanford/ND game, Texas/UCLA, and Bama/Arkansas...Cannot see enough of Ryan Mallett and Luck. So different and so good. Both those kids have great futures imo. Also, two upsets in the making with texas losing and Bama losing
Opinions on Kendall Hunter? I guess after last season durability will come into question, of course size as well. But you have to wonder if he's the next Ray Rice, Maurice ones Drew.
I said it last year but Allen Bailey is so humungously overrated. Never have I seen a player with such hype so such an incredible inability to get off a block and get taken out of the game so often by tight ends.
Size would be a worry and for every Ray Rice and MJD there's a myriad of small backs that don't make it. The ankle injury slowed him last year but he has good leg drive, is a good cut back runner and can take it to the house. Is he an every down back?
Big 4th quarter sack for my man Tom Wort today against Texas after a rough game against Cincinnati. Real bounce back for the kid.
watched the michigan state vs wisconsin and Minnesota vs Northwestern games. some decent prospects michigan state MLB greg jones- good speed, great blitzer. actually think he's a better OLB prospect than ILB. Seems to have to go around blocks rather than through them. I think he would be a force on the outside however CB Chris Rucker - thought he showed good play overall. Not a first rounder by any means but a pick that might turn out nicely if drafted in the 5th or so WR Mark Dell - good possession receiver. another late round prospect WISCONSIN TE Lance Kendricks - Miami has to look at this guy. Gets open and can run the seem. Didnt scout his blocking so I'm not sure about that part of his game OT Gabe Carimi - I really liked him. Big frame. decent feet. Maybe a future replacement for Carey? OG John Moffitt - Another good lineman. Actually skipped scouting him this game but I liked him from other games Ive seen of him CB Niles Brinkley - Seems like a good cover 2 CB prospect. Gives up a ton of cushion but is always around the receiver. Not a shutdown corner but one that in a zone scheme might be effective. Might be a good UDFA as a dime prospect or for a cover 2 team DE JJ Watt (junior) - This guy just really stood out. Great, great motor. Also highly intelligent in terms of in play football intelligence. effective pass rusher Minnesota RB Duane Bennett. 3rd or 4th back on a roster prospect. Very good at getting every last yard out of a play. Keeps the legs driving. can catch out of backfield also. UDFA propsect NORTHWESTERN QB Dan Persa. - highly intelligent. Is a junior so he wont cpome out for another year. Is short but accurate and can run effectively though not dominantly. As a backup prospect is intriguing. Another UDFA prospect, maybe even a late rounder in 2012. I would not drfat him to be a starter though
I like JJ Watt as well. Really think Greg Jones is overrated. Can't get off a block, COD isn't great. How good is Justin Blackmon of 0klahoma State going to be? Wowzers.
Denard robinson is reinventing the wheel in this formation...Too bad you didnt realize that early...some players do not require full season's to project...sometimes the flash can be so bright and quick, you just have to know it when you see it, and go with your instinct.
Wrong. He is already a better runner than both of them and they were pretty good. But I agree he will not be an NFL QB at all.
The offensive systems were completely different, so actually he's not 'wrong'. Ward for example played in essentially a pro style offense. He was a much better passer than Robinson. And the generations were different. Charlie Ward and Tommie Frazier were doing it almost 20 years ago. Robinson is quicker twitch athlete.
Robinson is going to be a great returner in the NFL that is pretty much all he is going to be. I just hope he isn't healthy when Ohio St plays Michigan.
Lee Ziemba is a pretty decent left tackle at Auburn. He absolutely dominated Cliff Matthews last weekend.
I don't see him as an NFL QB, but I could easily see someone taking him as teams have snapped up guys like Hester and McCluster. Maybe they put in a few plays for him as a WC guy, but overall that formation has seen its peak.
