Personally I'm tired of watching Henne have to make plays to overcome Henning's bag of tricks.... If Sparano doesn't reel him in and get this offense straight, he can go to
the wild cat was good while it lasted but it ain't cutting it any more. its a thing of the past. it does kill drives. and it kills our QB's momentum. lets go back to playing normal football!
Yes our offense played well. But it could of played better if not for the ****ing Wildcat. I ****ing hate this formation more than anything in the world. Scap it please for the love of god. And not to mention, 3 passes on the goalline, and at least 2 play actions on 3rd and 10+. Those play actions piss me off more than anything. Seriously Henning? Ever heard of shotgun? Nobody is fooled by play action on 3rd and 13. Senility. It's a dangerous thing.
Sucked. But to blame that for the loss is simply homering it up rather than acknowledging the real problem. An ongoing problem that has went on since last year.
Not really. To center in on one thing and make it a bigger problem is to let your homerism of yourself distort reality. Point is we had plenty of other drive killers even if we got the fumble back. Our D let the opposition put up 400+ yards yet somehow henning is the main problem. Its fairly ridiculious.
yeah the wildcat killed some drives...lets face it though our howling ****in defense just meowed tonight - I mean it was real bad - no QB pressure on sanchez and allen had a terrible game
The Wildcat didn't kill us. What killed us on the play calling was clearly the two passes on 2nd and 2 at the goal line. If anything, that's where the wildcat is most effective. Ronnie has tackle to tackle to pick a hole and the thrust is usually very good. We could have run the ball 3 plays. Heck even give it to Polite 3 times. He is a virtual guarantee to get a yard each carry. And the first pass is so low percentage. Not only that, but they telegraphed pass by going all WR's. Even if you were going to pass down there, do it out of a play action run! That was a crushing series simply b/c it makes the score 21-20 (Jets) instead of 24-21 (Miami). Henning has to step up and take the blame there. There is no debating that. Changes the whole complexion of the game. Even if it played out the same in terms of points the rest of the way, I think it's a very different final minute if we are down 31-27 instead of 31-23. The problem I have with the wildcat is that it is not really run the same as the successful version in the past. There were a couple of decent middle runs by Ronnie. We were also hurt by McQuistan. Not having Jerry in there just really hurt.
I couldn't agree more. It's as if you were sitting next to me during the game, as I was saying EXACTLY this as I was watching the game with my friends. I'm of the firm opinion that if this continues from Henning, and Sparano isn't man enough to stop it, then I say get rid of both of these buffoons. The simple fact the Dolphins won the division two years ago, and had one of the greatest turnarounds in NFL history, only to be bounced out of the playoffs in the first round, is NOT reason enough to allow these two to do whatever the heck they want. This is a championship-caliber team, and if they continue to hamstring the offense with these ridiculous trick play attempts, going away from what's working simply to prove that the "Wildcat" is still relevant, then they both should be fired. Henning is the reason Levy was axed in Buffalo (because Levy refused to dump this conservative-minded moron), and he just might end up causing the ouster of Sparano if Tony doesn't have the cojones to either reign in this fool and allow his offense to actually go out there and win some games, or gives him the boot like Levy wouldn't.
That was a terribly called series...... as was the last one. The Wildcat didn't kill us but it certainly isn't creating much offense anymore... in fact, we're starting to have a lot of negative plays, something we've never had a problem with
I'm sorry, but the "Wildcat" most assuredly lost the game for the Dolphins today. Saying otherwise is simply ridiculous. There were literally 5-6 times Miami was moving the ball well, and had JUST gotten a first-down after a fabulous passing play by Henne to his wide receivers where Henning tossed out the "Wildcat" on first-down only to see our drives effectively end right there. Three of those instances led to Miami settling for field goals rather than touchdowns. The simple fact is, Miami should have won this game going away, and WOULD HAVE, if it wasn't for Henning's pathetic insistance on continuing to run the "Wildcat", and Sparano's gutless acquiescence to such idiocy.
Yeah its time to start retiring it but I dont blame him for calling them. in this league you have to prove you can stop it before you pull the plug. after three weeeks it definitely seems like the league has caught up with it
You have a FB who always converts on shirt yardage situations, why not give it to Polite? ****ing senile old prick.
problem with that is that's what they wouldve been expecting. that would be playing to our tendency. henning was trying to catch them. it didnt work bbut that5s what he was trying to do. noone had a problem with the run where ronnie got 15 yds on the final drive. if that had been stopped for a 2 yd gain do you know how many people would be calling that a stupid play?
I said a year ago that if they didn't evolve the Wildcat it would become a liability. The problem with the WC isn't inherent, it is one of refusal to pass even once out of it for games at a stretch. Anytime you show the Wildcat teams know all they have to do is defend within 5-10 yards of the LOS; that just makes it too easy for 11 guys bent on stopping the run.
thats the main problem with the wildcat now, the negative plays. i think they need to rethink how they're going to use it or whether they retire it. but you cant keeep getting minus yards out of it and keep running it. either you figure out whats not woorking and tweek it or you phase it out
We just don't seem to have it together when it comes to red zone pass plays..... some of the stuff we try is as tho we're hoping someone falls down.
a few delayed handoff plays out of the shotgun wouldn't hurt lol...anything but predictable fades. please!
And hey, while we're at it...what's up with Ricky Williams and Brian Hartline not being able to take ONE ****ING step with the ball without stumbling???!!!
......and the point that you are missing is that it requires THOUGHT to change the technique that you have been using very effectively. We possessed the ball in between the JETS 14-0 run. We didn't run a single wildcat play and we did not score. You acknowledged the change of technique but you did not acknowledge that the technique is something that changed what was being done effectively already.

I'm not stupid enough to make the claim the Jets didn't play well; they did. That said, Miami still would have won handily if not for Henning's ridiculous playcalling and Sparano's gutless acquiescence to it.
eerrrrrrr......uhhhhhhh........eerrrrrrrr...... What pass play are you running versus man on man, inside technique?
Parcells has no more say here, He's the Tuna's boy Sparano, not yours. Grow a pair and strip his playcalling duties.
The Wildcat isn't being used in the best situations...it throws off the rythm of the offense....I wasn't too happy with Hennings playcalling overall again..i think the O coordinator spot needs to be concern number 1 in the off season...overall the offense did play a great game...could've used the run more effectively though
then again if it wasnt for henning's playcalling we wouldve scored 3 points. remember ravens 10 pts/ patriots 14. we basically scored what those two so called playoff caliber teams scored combined
I think something needs to be reiterated. 95 percent of Henning's game was BRILLIANT tonight. He was kicking Rex Ryan's *** all night long. That is no easy feat. It doesn't happen. And we missed on several opportunities that would have made it a truly epic performance. That said, it's the weekly boneheaded moves that are killing we the fans. I told my brother when we were driving, "You know it's coming. He can't help himself." Sure enough, here comes the Wildcat. I know I'm not alone. It's not a good thing when -- week in/week out -- lay fans like myself KNOW it's going to come. It's ALWAYS when the offense is getting in a groove. If I can see it, NFL coaches are going to see it. Tonight was no exception. How many of you cringed when Andrea Kramer was relaying after halftime that they liked what they saw and were going to run MORE Wildcat? I don't care what the years of coaching say, etc. etc. This is simply not a good philosophy and the proof is in the pudding. So teams have to prepare for it, big deal. They're doing a good job preparing for it. What good is a package if it consistently results in minimal/no gain or a loss in yardage, and -- courtesy of the playcaller -- interrupts the flow and momentum of the QB/offense? At this point we're wasting downs and losing yardage. Honestly, we don't have to retire the Wildcat. Just shelf it for a few weeks. Use it sparingly. I think that would benefit it. Because right now, everybody is onto it. The point is, we shouldn't be bashing Henning every week. We should be celebrating his work. This small change alone would go a VERY long way towards that.
Seriously? Because I really see no difference between threads like these and the threads I saw more than a few years ago about Norv Turner's motioning H-back.
