Found this link with youtube video of a guy who has a prototype of the HP Slate. The Slate isn't due out to I think next month or something. I'm leaning towards getting a Slate for internet and MS office applications. After looking at this video of a guy leaking the Slate's look and feel I'm not sure because it doesn't look like it responds very well. What do you guys think? http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2369587,00.asp [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0IiKaa8v9M&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Hp Slate review[/ame]
I know but we are thinking of using the tablets for business in the client engagement process because it's more tactile and portable.
If there are a lot of "what if" return, retirement, annuity and equity scenarios that are baselined on downloadable data that "hook" clients then I would think the tablet is an excellent tool ..... because of the quick data returns if the packages are responsive to tablet software. I have had some issues with "synchronizing" data and uploading database management files from Mac to windows based operations, so that is also something to consider...but I would think you would have a short window of attention with most smaller individual investors or people in need of financial planning..... I am wrong often but opinionated always............so TIFIW.......which is not much.......
I'm a financial advisor and I own an ipad and a tablet PC. I have tried what you speak of, and let me just say the tablet PC is a million times better. It also has much better applications for displays for clients. I use the ipad for entertainment while travelling and sometimes to browse the web while watching TV. The tablet PC is far superior for business. Much easier to prop up and let it display on itself without you holding it, etc.
Synchronizing is important to me for replicating data from one device to PC. It's one of the reasons I'm leaning towards a PC tablet. I'm not certain how the Ipad how handle tools and calculations for what if scenarios. I'm trying to look for ipad compatibability on that.
Left angle bracket means “less than.” Ludacris, go with the iPad. It has the advantage of actually being available for purchase. You’re comparing a real product to something that isn’t actually real yet. The Slate has been announced and reannounced and still has no release date, known price, known finalized specs, known OS, or known features. The iPad will not have any competition until 2011. Even then, the exact quality of that competition will likely be found lacking. Of course, this is all assuming that you’ve identified an iPad app or apps (or have in-house apps ready to go) that will help your business. If not, then a laptop is still the best way to go until that app or apps become available.
