Shana Tova to my fellow Jewish Fins fans, and Jewish trolls as well. For those unaware, Yom Kippur is the Jewish Day of Repentance. We fast for 25+ hours straight. No eating or drinking, no going to work, and if you're very religious, you can't use any technology as well, etc. How will each of you spend your Yom Kippur? I will sleep as much as I can, do some homework, watch some football, and then go to temple. If it wasn't for the first 3, I probably wouldn't make it through the day.
I am going over my brother-in-law's house tomorrow night for bagels and lox!!! I am not Jewish, my sister converted... Happy Yom Kippur bro!! Or as we say up here Yom Kippa....
I know. That's why I said supposedly. Its not one of the biggest things. The biggest things are not working, fasting and going to temple, and Im doing all 3.
While my Jewish brothers are not working, fasting and going to temple , I will pick up the slack in the eating department.
I understand why you're moving this, but how is this different from the countless unmoved Merry Christmas threads we see on the main board every year?
Shana Tova dolfan94. I'll be partaking in the same activities as you it seems... except I have quite a few papers to tackle this weekend.
Sadly an answer may be that yours is very intentionally a religious greeting while many of the Merry Christmas greetings are largely secular in nature. <sigh> That said my desire for you and indeed all of my Abrahamic brothers and sisters on this board to have a blessed time of repentance and renewal with God is sincere!
My fast wasn't too bad. Wasn't that hungry throughout, but when I went to temple at the end, and they made me stand, I almost fainted and quickly sat down throughout the whole service. And when it came time for dinner, after half a plate of salad, I was really full.
