Charles is going to be tricky this season, because while he has loads of talent, they're going to spread the ball around. Thomas Jones looked good, McCluster looked good. I can see games where Charles has 4 carries for 20 yds, and games where he has 10 carries for 100+ plus.
Exactly my thoughts. He's one of those guys who'll have to make a big contribution on limited work. Very tricky.
Question: I have Forsett sitting on my bench. Seeing that he is splitting carries with Jones and Washington, would i be better off trying to pick up Brandon Jackson (GB) from waivers? Jackson will be the #1 in GB now that Grant is on IR
In other words, he's just like every other non-QB fantasy player. Almost every RB deals with a backfield committee, and WRs are lucky to get 5 catches a game. Charles is going back in my starting lineup where he belongs. Yes. Perfect opportunity for you. Grab him ASAP.
That's not true at all. Other RBs have GL carries and average higher than 11 carries per game. JC's value is capped in a few ways whether you'd like to acknowledge it or not.
His touches are capped. His potential production and overall value are not capped despite that. It’s clear we have differing views on a breakout player.
I could say the same thing about DeSean Jackson. Didn’t stop him from being a second round pick this year. Didn’t cap his production the last two years. Charles is the best player on his team. He’ll produce.
And he's a great example of a guy I try to avoid in every league. Not that I understand how his TD value is capped in any way. Boom or bust players are a great way to lose in a league. You need guys who are consistent first, then if you wana add high risk/reward guys in your RB2 WR3 spots, you're covered.
And that means? JC isn't in the same situation as he was last year. Take your chances if you want, but I wouldn't do it without other dependable players on your roster.
It means you’re criticizing the wrong player for lack of touches and a glass ceiling. Harrison had a great December—1/4th of the season—and was promptly rewarded by the Browns trading for Peyton Hillis and drafting Montario Hardesty. THAT is an example of a boom or bust player caught in a numbers game who will need extreme production with every touch. Jamaal Charles last year: 190 rushes, 1120 yards, 7 TDs; 40 recs, 297 yards. He averaged 5.9 YPC, which is DeAngelo Williams territory. I’ll start that in week 2 and take my chances.
And JC had a great 8 weeks and they rewarded him by bringing in TJ for GL work and a good amount of carries and then drafted a similar player in Dexter McCluster. Sooooo. You seem biased imho. Like I've said before he's a great player, but the situation is far from ideal. He's in a situation like Pierre Thomas was last year.
You realize that Thomas Jones has zero TDs on the season, right? I’m biased toward 1100+ yard rushers in my RB2 slot, yes.
lol So TJ having no TDs in one game is a big deal? Ooook. I'm sure everyone is ready to giving up on AP scoring TDs too bc he didn't hit paydirt Sunday either. I'm biased towards high-scoring players who get a consistent amount of work in mine.
Thomas Jones will not score more TDs than Jamaal Charles, who will not score less TDs than his 2009 output. You’re basically blaming Jamaal Charles for not being Chris Johnson. Rare is the running back not in a committee.
lol Ok. Can I borrow your crystal ball for next week? That whole statement is ridiculous. The second part is equally ridiculous.
so i'm thinking about dropping moreno for mcgahee...remember its a touchdown only league and mcgahee gets goalline carries..thing is it cost 5 dollars to make the move so i need some reassurance
Jamaal Charles will be tricky for the next 2-3 weeks until the coaches trust him to carry the load. J Charles is EASILY the most talented offensive player for the Chiefs. It will be hard for them to take him off of the field come the second half of the season. 20+ touches per game, imo.
Na ridiculous is what people spent to get Charles. Don't need Crabtree or Charles when you've got that beast Hakeem Nicks!
That's what I'm sayin. He needs to win the coaches trust and push TJ out of the picture. Interesting to see how things shake out with McCluster there too.
Here's a flex problem. Usually I'm pretty good at picking these but this one seems like a real toss up. Ronnie Brown, Darren McFadden, or Brandon Jackson? I can start one, it's non-PPR. Probably going to keep Brown in the starting lineup but I'm leaning towards Jackson. I don't think McFadden strings together two good performances in a row.
I picked up michael Vick in my league, but now the question is do I start him or keep Matt Schaub in. I dont think Schaub will have two miserable weeks in a row, but Mike Vick has so much potential. What should I do?
Stick with Schaub. Why did you pick up Michael Vick if you have Schaub? Kolb should be back by week 3.
I picked up Brandon Jackson and he's now my flex player. Would you start Floyd over Nicks? I did that last week and was pulling out my hair for it.
Should have used that roster spot for Legedu Naanee. Unless your week 2 opponent has Kevin Kolb, that is.
ive had eddie royal accumlating points on my bench for weeks now. thinking about starting him over steve smith....who is playing with a rookie QB against cincy.....royal is playing against colts paper defense. thoughts? maybe put royal over hightower in my flex? but it is a ppr league.
