We've got some great talent around here... Con, where yah been? Samphin, that Maniphesto is rollin'! Or is that me? ROFL! Not to mention the season prediction video, PRICELESS!

Anyway, my Week 1 write-up proved its points so on to week 2 (though I foresaw a higher scoring offense). A more formidable opponent stands between the Dolphins and 2-0.

So far this week we’ve seen a young stalwart suffer a setback with Odrick’s leg injury, a Sparano guy remain hurt in Crowder and roster moves a PLENTY! Ireland does a fantastic job of churning that second tier of the roster and he continues this week by bringing in Adalius Thomas for a workout and resigning Moses and Walden. IMHO, Ireland is really good at communicating from his scouts, coach Sparano and the assistants on basis of need as he continues to weed out talent and fits such as Bobby Carpenter. They’re always happy to get a draft pick back! And how about his record with finding receivers as UDFA’s??? It’s redonkulous!!! Miles Austin, Bess, now Wallace and Moore…

On to the challenges of playing in the city of my forebears, Minneapolis (though I’ve only returned once)! Brett Favre is playing the old, tired dog role to the media this week in hopes for Miami to bite but the Dolphins are WAY too smart to buy into that line. Yes, they are missing the main target in Rice but Favre is pretty good at spreading the ball around and they have stronger personnel than that of the Barfalo Jills.

For starters the Dolphins defense had perhaps the best tackling game I’ve ever seen as a Dolphins fan (And that is saying something!)! Against the Jills it wasn’t just gang tackling but defenders wrapping up their man! They will need some more of that consistent tackling this week, especially against AP!

Henne has to show some growth after week 1. He again showed a penchant for locking onto receivers, holding the ball too long and accuracy issues. Clear that up and we’ll go a long way!

    Solutions to Victory!

    DEFENSE

    1. Stuff Adrian Peterson like an early Thanksgiving Turkey! The three-headed rushing attack of the Jills (Spiller, Lynch and Jackson) had 50 total yards rushing! WOW! That is indeed an accomplishment! We’ll need more of the same magic this week. Although I don’t buy that AP is a fumble waiting to happen my guess is there may be some emphasis on attacking the ball this week.
    2. Send an extra rusher at Favre consistently! As we all know, Brett can be a little rattled under pressure causing a proneness to throw an INT or two. If we give him happy feet early, the benefit may be a defensive TD.
    3. No man shall go outside! Meaning if we can keep everything underneath we can again harness in the big play and keep them from happening.

    OFFENSE

    1. PROTECT AND SERVE! The O-line will have a big task this week, run or pass! It all starts at the LOS. Long vs. Allen will be a battle royal! Get some push on the Williams’s’--ssss and the R&R Express shall not be derailed!
    2. Playcall a stretch – How about a good offensive play-calling? Let’s not get cute unless need be and how about using the two we kept on the roster. Wallace and Moore have shown to be good targets and both add some additional quicks, speed and size! 5-wide, Marshall, Hartline, Wallace, Moore with a Fasano or Bess in the slot… That’s what I’m talking about!
    3. UNLEASH THE BEAST! He showed why he is worth his weight in gold last week in Buffalo. Would have EASILY gone over a 100-yard game and at least one TD if Henne had only hit his target (I don’t know, guess there was a nor-easta’ or something?). How about laying out a safety? That was glorious!

And finally, the outcome! Everyone knows I’m always an opfinist, and this week is no different!

I’d like to see Ronnie get a few more carries this week. He was a monster in waiting last week. Keep motioning the guy out wide too, opposite Marshall! That would be TWO physical receivers ready to break tackles…

HIT Marshall in stride and watch and learn. He is the Beast!

    DOLPHINS 24, Vikings 17

    FEED THE WOLF! OWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

    Nice read Hulkfish!

I think our gameplan will be to stop AP AND Shianco. Make Farve and his wideouts beat us on the outside.

They looked terribly out of rhythm in week 1, if you stop AP and Shianco or at least limit their damage it should help control the game and put us in a position to win.

The Aqua Crush - Yeah man, I have to agree. We've gotta really control the LOS on both sides! Just as Sparano likes...

Open up the game throwing the ball on offense, the shock on the Vikings Defense will take most of the first half to recover from.

Disrupt Favre's timing early and often, he is not the same Qb right now as he was last season.

Get more out of ST, love Clifton Smith, but 20 total yards is not good enough, Bonamego needs to tighten that up.

I really don't see us putting up 24 on the Vikings defense. I just see us having a really hard time running the ball with our new interior OL. If we pull out this win it will be because of a defensive TD or a couple TO's in Viking territory. I'd say another 13-10 type game could easily be on tap.

THat's what our team is built for. Tall task to win those battles this week, but it can be done.

We need to be disciplined as well. That crowd in Minny is going to be noisy. Buffalo's crowd was noisy too, but the sound doesn't carry and amplify like it does in Minny.

We can't beat our selves with costly penalties. even 5 yard false start or offside penalties can be crippling when the other team has a back like AP. I liked the discipline in week 1, week 2 is a taller task IMO.

I agree Padre, we should hit em deep early on O so their playing from behind early and then pressure farve early and often.

Also, if we can somehow win this game, that would be 2 road games to start the year with wins. It would put us in a .500 or better position through the first quarter of games. That would be absolutley huge as we know how tough weeks 1-5 are in our schedule. It would set us up to have a monster first quarter and carry that momentum into the second quarter of games. ANd we would be going home in Week three extremely amped.

I'm just going to come out and say it:

I think the 2010 Vikings Team is soft.

Their success last season caused them to lose focus on winning football and doing what it takes to win year and year out in the NFL.

We shall see the Sunday, but do not be surprised if by the 3rd qtr we all are surprised at how good the Dolphins look.

I don't think that's a shocking statement Padre, I think the same thing. Not having that outside wideout in Rice i think drastically effects their whole offense and how it operates.

It's one thing to ask AP to win games when you can have the odd drive to stretch the field, but they lack that now. AP will get worn out and the points they put up won't be the same.

The only way that gets solved is if a wideout can step up and be that constant outside threat the way Rice was. I don't see it happening with their current personnel.

They might be a strong second half team if Rice comes back and establishes that chemistry with Farve again and gives them that additional weapon. Until then, it will be tough sledding for Minny's O.

Yeah, I agree guys and I would like to see a crazy 5-wide formation as I said. I feel that Wallace and Moore are ready to contribute just as Bess was ready his first season...

Sparano would break out in a rash if Henning had a 5 Wr set..:D

More along the lines of throwing on first downs, send Ronnie B or RW out as Wr's. that would seriously mess with a defensive game plan.

They expect a line up and play smash mouth game.

Control the clock too. AP and gramps can't do any damage on the bench.

LOL! I agree Padre31... Only on the occassion, not the predominate passing attack. As I said in the article, I LOVED seeing Ronnie motion out wide, many probably remember me saying that during the offseason! Him and Marshall out wide (Best hands/most physical paired outside)!

Missing Rice is huge , no question , but I don't think tough sledding for Minnesota is in order either.

AP can dictate a game by himself , and Visanthe Shiancoe is a serious weapon that scares me . Berrian has deep speed to stretch Miami out and Minnesota has had a week and a half to gameplan and learn from their week one mistakes.

Plus , the game is in the dome , a hostile home opener crowd and a Viking team that can't afford to go 0 and 2.

I hope like crazy Miami plays well and wins ( especially as I am off to the game ) but I sense an intense , pumped up Viking team , especially on offense after the snooze fest they provided in NO.

You would think that we would stay away from their front 7 being that its their strength but Does anyone else feel this team is being built to go against the current philosophies of the league?..

If you look at the size and power of our backs, oline, and #1 receiver, iam thinking were gonna bring pure power smashmouth football back to the forefront of the NFL.....This excites me to no end, because I know if we have to throw we still have the horses to get it done, and a QB that can threaten all 4 quarters of the field.

I dont know how to get my point across on this but the personnel we have in place screams the opposite of the current trends..I think were going there.

The running game stats were impressive to me in our first game with such a new oline...The gameplan was so conservative just as we expected, and I now believe fully that Henne was on a strict leash..which probably had something to do with him looking a little uncomfortable..He's learning a completely different game than his arm is used to. however the great thing about our personnel is that if we need to stay away from a good front 7 like the vikings have, I do think we can attack with some power spread.

If we hit Favre with everything but the kitchen sink I think we will win this game. You cannot let him run around,,,,you pressure him and the Gunslinger WILL throw a pick...lets just hope our d-backs can make an INT one of these days...I swear we have the worst d-backs in NFL history when it comes to gimme picks. It started with Gerbil Wilson and has afflicted everyone.

Yeah, LOL! Look at the Vikes with and without Favre... WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Tarvaris is a career 2 at best.

This game basically comes down to dictating the LOS, unless we want to try a shoot-out!

Not a shoot out, but not pure SparanoBall either, we hve to have an early lead imho, that will give Nolan the flexibility to make Favre miserable with changing fronts and blitzes etc.

Yeah, it will probably depend greatly on how the defense plays as well. I'd like to see the D score this week and after week 1 I feel confident saying that and projected that as part of my score.
