A lot of complaining about Henne today.

Now he did miss some throws and he looked a little scared to throw the ball at times but overral I think he played well.

He had at LEAST 6 drops by his receivers, and he had to check it down a lot cause our receivers were COVERED. Some of you are really underestimating the Bills secondary.

All in all, Henne might of not lit up the stats sheet or the scoreboard, but his receivers and a great secondary didn't help him.

Oh ya, he DID NOT turn the ball over.

If you are complaining about Henne (or anything for that matter) after a win, you shouldn't be watching the games. Henne played fine. Made some nice throws and protected the ball.

I know this: Last year Henne folded in the 4th quarter in Buffalo. This year he didn't throw erratic passes and didn't turn the ball over. Job well done, especially with 6 drops, Marshall could've had that bomb even though Henne probably should've thrown it sooner.

In other words, he didn't do his best Mark Sanchez impersonation in the 4th quarter.

I'm fine with the way he played. He was taking what a very good Buffalo secondary was giving him. He didn't throw a costly pick, and let our defense continue to control the game.

    Henne:

Had about 6 balls dropped by WRs ----------- 6 !!!!
Without those, his % and total yards would've been AWESOME. Plus, it would've kept some drives alive, so he may have gotten more points!

    No Interceptions!!!!! Awesome.

Was he perfect ....... no. It was a solid performance on the road, week 1, vs. a good Pass D.

As for Henne, I saw no problems with his game today, sure he was short on the throw to Marshall, I speculated in the GD thread that it was due to the wind, and probably was. Either way though, when your elite top 5 in the NFL WR gets his paws on that ball, he should still catch it, but its neither here nor there now.

There's nothing wrong with anything Henne did today IMO. No INTS, not even any near INT's really a near perfect almost TD pass to Fasano, and good throws/reads all day long, didn't force anything, did a nice job avoiding sacks, and throwing the ball away in some instances, you can't really be too upset with that. Those who are, need to give up the dream of Marino part 2 with this guy. Its never going to happen, no matter who plays QB here. Same way the Colts will NEVER replace Peyton Manning, or the Pats will never replace Brady etc... etc... it is what it is, we won the game, he's done nothing to warrant being a bad player, not last year, not so far this year. Enough of this crap already.

I thought Henne played a good game. Not a great game, but since he didn't turn the ball over, I can't complain. But was it just me, or did he look really nervous in the pocket at times?

i completely agree; although his stats don't look that good he had a couple drops from his receivers. The Brandon Marshall bomb was under thrown but it still landed in his hands and he dropped it. Also I was extremely amazed how well the secondary of the Bills played and are receivers were always covered by them. Overall I think he played well, had no turnovers and made good throws for the most part when people were open. He did what he was supposed to do and most importantly we came out with the WWWWWWW!!! 1-0 and a division game under our belt.

Most of my complaints were out of the frustration that I was in the entire game over the major underthrow, but I thought he played fine enough to win and managed the game well.

Definitely going to need to step it up next week against a much better team in Minnesota. If an opportunity like that comes up, we'll need to execute properly.

I didn't have a problem with Henne's overall performance. Not great, but not bad either. Much better than his first outing @ Buffalo.

I don't think it was nerves as much as it was just not wanting to force a ball into coverage and checking down to every receiver

I like Henne, but I did think he was slow in his decision making and as a result was late on some throws and missed some plays. I am glad he didn't turn the ball over. It didn't appear to me that Henne made much progression from last year unfortunately despite have BM to throw to now.

Caused a couple of sacks as well. That's normally something that comes with experience though.

I still don't think Buffalo's secondary gets enough credit.

My favorite stat from Henne today... Int: 0. The whole offense really played bad in the second half for the most part. But our D stepped up BIG time. And to be honest, an INT by Henne, we probably lose this game.

    Thats all I am saying.

He still looks raw to me. Needs more time to progress because he hasn't 'arrived' yet.

YOU'LL KNOW when this kid has arrived. Then I'll gladly come on here and be like "YOU SEE" I told you the dude hadn't 'arrived' yet.

His head is still in the clouds somewhat and that will hinder us against teams like Minnesota.

BUT, as time goes on, hopefully things clear up for him and suddenly we'll be like...Marino who? Nah J/K but we'll be OK.

Just right now, he is still looking raw.

In the early games 3 of the top 5 qb's lost today. If every game was like this and they were 11-5 winning the division people would still ***** because he's not lighting it up.

He played like he was coached to not turn the ball over. That was probably job #1, 2 and 3 drilled by the coaching staff this week. Can't really blame them after what happened in Buffalo last year.

Why force throws and have possible turnovers, when your D is playing lights out? Henne missed a couple throws but he did a pretty solid job in my opinion.

I mentioned it in another thread, but what really annoyed me about Henne was his ball placement/accuracy. Why can he not hit guys in the chest? A lot of balls are low and a bunch of passes were at WR knees/feet.

The only real obvious bad play by Henne was underthrowing BM on the deep ball. It was still catchable, but if Henne threw that properly it's a TD.

I thought he played pretty good game though. The best part of his game besides the no turnovers, was his ability to see in the second half when teh Bills D was gaining momentum, he found his safety valve, Bess, and kept feeding him with short safe throws to keep the drive alive and wear down the bills in the late minutes. That's growth and development in my opinion. Last year he was throwing erratically and to anyone he could think of. He simplified it and kept the lead.

Henne has 3 offseasons under his belt and he has ZERO feel for pressure; today on one play it was a jailbreak, everyone came for him. The whole world saw it, but instead of throwing the ball away he looked like he hadn't even noticed, and he got buried.

He's had 3 OFFSEASONS. He's a second-year starter. Some things you can forgive and attribute to the "learning curve," but at least you have to be able to see 8 guys coming at you.

    And the inaccuracy is maddening.

Of those six drops at least 3 were due to his poor passing. The under throw to Marshall could have cost us the game.

He did OK against a ****ty team next week @ Vikings he wont get a chance to play this poor.

It's easy to look nervous when your receivers are covered almost every play and you know you've been standing in the pocket for 3+ seconds already and still have the ball in your hand.

I know we all hate to see so many check downs, but really this was smart play on Henne's part. Guy did great to avoid turning the ball over.

His accuracy was poor at times, i'll give you that. But as far as feeling pressure, he protected the ball and took an obvious sack on a play where he could of just as easily fired the ball into the hands of a very good secondary, possibly costing us the game.

And I do remember at least one play where he AVOIDED being sacked, ran out of the pocket and scrambled for a first down I believe.

I think the coaches have really ingrained "PROTECT THE FOOTBALL" into Henne's brain. On top of the coaches preaching, I am sure Pennington has really stressed that concept to him on more than one occasion.

I think once Henne starts really settling in, he will make quicker decisions and get the ball out faster and with more confidence.

    Just my 2c

I think thats the thing alot of people are missing with his play. Sure he's checking it down, but I'd rather do that and get 5 yards, than him throw an INT by trying to force things to happen. Thats what he did last year when he was throwing some of those INT's.

God forbid the kid isn't elite after 13 starts in the NFL. He has learning to do, so does Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, etc. He's not perfect, but he played a really solid and smart game. Finding things to nit pick on after a win is just unnecessary.

No offense, but were you watching the game on a 3 inch TV that blanked out before showing the replay? Henne put it in Brandon's bread basket and he flat out dropped it. A drop is a drop is a drop. Not every pass is going to be perfect. Give me a friggin break; these are NFL receivers, not junior high kids. Gheesh, the nerve of Henne not going 34/34.

I hated the audible to pass when we were running it down their throats. Also, the reason he is better than Pennington is because of the deep ball. He had Marshall wide open and missed him. If he doesn't give is that, how is he better than Pennington?

I don't disagree that he should be starting. He is our future, but he needs to be better next week. He was a caretaker this week. I'd rather have Pennington taking care of the ball.

Not all that hard when you throw the ball 5 yards deep... The guy had more than a few passes that were at the receivers feet. a few drops were the result of terrible ball placement (Brown and Hartline's drop come to mind).

Not hitting guys in stride also count for inaccuracy. On a 3rd and 5 he had Marshall running over the middle and threw it behind him, made him stop, and then tackled 2 yards shy of a first. If Henne hits him in stride, it's an easy first down and Marshall, the best WR after the catch, has room to run.

    Again with the ****ty team....

DD...look this up...PLEASE. Buffalo had the #2 ranked pass D last season.

Last season in Buffalo...look at these stats...

    New Orleans - Drew Brees - 16/29 172 yds 0Tds 0 Ints

    Houston - Matt Shaub 268 yds 0Tds - 2 Ints

    New England - Tom Brady 115 yds 1 Td - 1 Int

They have a GREAT PASS D.....not a good one...A GREAT ONE.
