I think O'Connell will probably be gone by the 6th so we would either have to overdraft him or pickup a 5th rounder somewhere. Nice call with O'Hara. Yeah too bad Matt Ryan aint Irish :shifty:

Wow; some of you guys really just don't pay attention. Remember when Parcells held his initial press conference? He was hammered with questions regarding the draft. One of the things that he stated was that they weren't going to be influenced by those cottage industry draft gurus and their opinions. Our new FO is really going to surprise alot of people when Goodell walks to the podium and announces "With the first pick in the draft Miami selects......... Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie" !!!!!!!! :escape:

Eh..I don't necessarily believe that. I just thought I'd throw that out to break up the monotony.

I feel Jake Long is the safest pick in the draft. He is no Robert Gallery. Chris Long would be option 2 for me.

I want the Dolphins to pick someone with no chance of being a bust.

Gholston is Boom or Bust. If we pick Either Long, Gholston, or Dorsey id be thrilled.

    I'm easy to please :D

Also those who mention Kevin O'Connell I think he has a great chance of being a Fin. But Kevin is 6'4 225 not 6'6 235 :wink2:

I dont buy this discipline of trying to maintain objectivity. At some point, the pressure is going to build and you'll become a raving Vernon Gholston fan next week. You're the BuckeyeKing for God's sake not the BuckeyePeasant

I respect that ( props for having a Wolverine as your first choice) but I think you're underselling Gholston a bit. Whats your take on Kirk Barton and Larry Grant

Barton will be like Doug Datish a bit of handy man. He can play Tackle or guard. He will not be a LT. Larry Grant is a solid player. I think Grant will be a solid ST player. Dunno if he will get the chance to start at either OLB or ILB.

If Adamprez is the happiest person on thephins.com on draft day, my son wants to be traded! And so does Beck.

Just because of his pedigree, doesn't mean that Chris won't hold out for the best possible contract. His Daddy, while great player is a pretty good businessman...so he might even have an edge that most players don't come contract time. At any rate, what you (and everyone else) are really saying here...."We don't know who the Fins will take !" All we know right now is that it could be any in a group of 5 players... Don't kid yourselves folks...we have no clue and nothing these guys are saying thru the press can be believed, including Ireland's 'Freudian slip'. All we really know is that we are technically on the clock and Tunaland hasn't made a choice yet...

On a side note, IMHO, I still agree and think that Chris would be the best choice for us at #1...but that's my opinion...

V Gholston reminds me of M Mamula..

He has more talent than Mamula but the chances of him becoming the same exact bust are true to form!

Imo any team in the top 15 that picks V Gholston at #1 must love to gamble their salary cap!

I think that you can say that about any player drafted #1 ..
But listening to C Long being interviewed it just seems that this guy just loves to play football and wants to get past all the contract B-S, suit up, and beat the hell out of the opposing qb's..

J Long imo seems to be more money oriented.. Which means him holding out is more likely!

I'm having a hard time wrapping my hands around Chris Long being our first pick, unless the talks with Condon goes awry.

When we were pursuing Pace, lot of the people here, and a lot of the talking-heads, seemed to agree that if we get him, that would pretty much take Chris Long out of the picture.

So, what does that say? Either, Pace is possibly good enough that Chris Long is no longer necessary, and/or Jake Long is rated high enough that a combination of he and a possible good OLB negates the need to draft Chris.

I don't see that anything has changed, except we didn't get Pace.

    Really???
They have been in "negotiations" going on 2 weeks now!
And maybe you haven't heard that there is a deadline to those "negotiations" and considering that the draft is one week away it doesn't look too good for YOUR wishfull thinking coming true!

Do you actually believe that the Tuna is going to kiss J Long and his agent T Condons @ss much longer to make a deal?

Then why did you respond to my response about J Long then?:confused1:

    Your response..
""Really?? Guess you havent heard yet but we are in negotiations with Jake Long...so I wouldnt call that "wishfull thinking"""

    My response..
""No more wishful thinking than those of you who keep hoping the pick will be J Long!""

And I am not trying to tell you anything..
I am discussing why I do not feel that J Long is worth the #1 pick money and that C Long is the best defensive player also the best value for the Dolphins in this draft!
