As a general rule I avoid the MD.com written interviews as rarely are there candid questions asked, this one is actually informative including Sparano's thoughts on Jason Allen, some of the Draft picks and Undrafted Players.

    Other points:

-Compares Marlon Moore to Terry Glenn in some characteristics not in career outcome.

-Largely uncommented upon, but as Sparano points out, Reshad Jones was a tackling machine on Special Teams

-Roberto Wallace is a 4 core Special Teams player, which means he is more likely to be active than Marlon Moore, keep an eye on that cat as 6-4' and a 4.4 40 and the ability to make a play while covered will equal some playing time in the offense.

    Who is Jake Grove?

And allow me to add, if L2G was here, he would be rightfully horse laughing over that one...:D

I like that Sparano, when asked about the uncertainty over what the new Bills staff will do, said "they could come out and run just Wildcat plays, or they could go 4 wide".

    Interesting factoid:

-Tony Sparano's record as a HC 18-14 with 1 playoff appearance

-Chan Gailey's record as a HC 18-14 with 2 playoff appearances

Gailey is not some stiff on the opposing sideline.

Nah, this is the guy I want as the #4:

I look at those measurables, and what I watched this preseason, and think they got this one wrong, Wallace showed playmaking ability and hands at least as good as Marshall or Hartline, that is why I'm somewhat pumped by his making the squad.

That corner he caught the TD against in Dallas is some sort of good FA prospect, like Carroll or Ness, what was his name?

He is also a 4 core ST player, if a Wr goes down I would not be too concerned if Wallace was plugged into the mix.

Not some stiff, no. But he got handed a very good Dallas teas as a first year head coach, while Tony got the remnants of a 1-15 team. Chan is no dummy, but Tony is the better coach. When he has a few years experience, he will be far better.

This is why I disagree that Reshad Jones will be inactive for Sunday. The guy is too good fo a special teams player right now for us and a SOLID tackler. It is only a matter of time before he is our starting FS I think. This is my personal pet player, if you will. I think he will turn out to be great value as a fifth rounder for us.

What I had in mind was there is no built in Coaching Advantage, Gailey is as sharp as Sparano by won/loss record, this isn't Dick Jauron across the field.

Gailey was at least had the football IQ to put Roscoe Parrish in the slot and leave him there as at least Parrish offers explosive play ability, Jauron stuck with Kerry Reid when the man just did not make plays.

Should make for an interesting first Qtr as basically it will be Nolan v Gailey as we feel each other out.

Maybe, to my mind he is more of a Strong Safety as there is no way, and I do mean no way, Chris Clemons would be a better than average tackler in the box around the LoS, Jones certainly could be a force playing around the LoS.

Now Jones will also never have Clemons tools, it is 4.6 vs 4.4 and Clemons just seems more nimble, Jones is more like Louis Oliver.

I can see Jones being groomed over the next 2 seasons to be Yeremiah's replacement. He just seems like an in the box safety to me. IF we ask him to cover the deep part of the field it could end badly.

Dolphins fans should know Gailey well enough to have a lot of respect. He was a part of back to back 11-5 seasons here and no one wanted him to leave when he did...

The thing with Gailey is, as much as he could, he eliminated some of the structural flaws in the roster and schemes.

-Rather than draft a Qb and say "wait 3 yrs" he is trying to make do with Trent Edwards, who has made a pro bowl

-Instead of just tearing down the Oline, he simply found the biggest run blocking players he could and will attempt to make do.

-by taking Spiller instead of a Wr or Qb, he made their strength, running the ball, even stronger.

-by putting Parrish in the slot, he added even more explosiveness to what will be a miserly passing game, T Edwards will not throw the ball 25 times a game if Gailey can help it and that is by design.

his problem is, the defense will crack as the Lb corps at best is an uknown or at worst is manned by ill fitting players who are slow and losing Schoebel really does hurt that unit.

All in all, I expect a tough, creative and scrappy Bills team to meet us on Sunday but one that has match up problems and has to rotate Left Tackles.

He loved to run the ball to set up the pass. Running attempts were close to around 500 per season.

Which is why Sparano is starting Ikaika over Misi, Sparano mentioned Ike's strength at the PoA.

Which is why we want Misi to be a strong run defender soon. So he can play all 3 downs..

agree with those here .... don't see anything but SS for Jones ... and that's fine -- since we will need one in short order ....

There's a lot more to being a good WR then measurables, and Moore was clearly the better WR, quicker, better route running, understands how to find the holes in zone, just better period

Disagree NR, difference is, Moore could only make plays when he was wide open, Wallace showed he could get wide open and make plays when he was "covered".

Moore never did that, Wallace made a one armed snatch for a TD, Moore..not so much.
