    Death at a Funeral.

Has a few lol moments (mostly from Danny Glover). But don't get your hopes up too high.

I finally saw Inception and I really enjoyed it. It was a great story. I thought Nolan did a fantastic job of keeping the story tight and moving and of building suspense. I would agree with those that have stated that it is among the best movies of the year.

Watched [IMG]on AMC last night. What a terrible movie. It just went from so-so, to really bad, to worse. By the end I was almost applauding that it was over. It kept reminding me of another terrible 'screwed at sea' flick, "Deep Rising."

The last movie I saw was "Never Back Down". I had seen it before but I watched it again the other night on Blu-ray. I like the movie alot. I like the fight scenes and of course the underlying love story.

I watched The Hurt Locker, Kick-***(again) and Couple's Retreat.

    I love Kick-***.

Couple's Retreat was about as good as I thought it would be.

The Hurt Locker was not my cup of tea.

I just watched Pandorum. Critics panned it but I thought it was pretty enjoyable in an "Event Horizon" kind of way.

It flew under the radar IMO. Released Sept. 25 '09 worth your while...

Saw 'Orphan' the other night. I wanted to see it until the end so I could know the story and then go to IMDB and read people's hilarious rants about how ******ed it was. Surprisingly, it had a rating over 7.

Just saw "Surrogates" with Bruce Willis. Released Friday September the 25th 2009. Yet another movie that flew under the radar. Not great and probably should have been given the concepts and actors, but I just don't like technology action thrillers anymore. Seems like they just stimulate you with some new concepts and then just run the equation...

    plus

    equals box office hit...

Looks like they need to rework the equation. I still enjoyed it, maybe I'm just not a big fan of the genre anymore.

BTW- There were absolutely no memorable lines in this one. No creativity, very bland dialogue.

Piranha 3D. Fairly entertaining. Kelly Brook in a bikini is almost worth the price of admission herself.

Kick ***. Totally not what I expected based on the previews. Bloody, fun, and surprisingly good.

The Cove. Documentary about the dolphin slaughter going on in Japan. It won an Academy Award. Feels like a heist movie actually. They assemble a team to film the dolphin slaughter and have to stealth around at night to plant everything. Lots of suspense actually. They actually come at the issue of dolphin slaughter from lots of sides. 4 of 5.

Not to make light of that situation (I love dolphins, one of my favorite animals), but I can't read that and not think about the South Park episode where the Japanese guys run around yelling "**** you dolphins!!!".

Its funny, but that is closer to the truth than not, actually. The Japanese in that small town, actually despise dolphin. They consider them the rats of the sea. They claim, if the dolphin aren't culled there'd be no fish left. They herd them to be sold to sea parks and what aren't picked are sold as meat. The ridiculous part is, dolphin over there is considered low quality meat. It is ridiculous high in mercury and its often sold as whale meat.

They basically use loud noise to herd them into a cove, then in little skiff type boats, they stab them repeatedly with a long sharp pole. The cove literally turns red, as they die slowly by bleeding out. You can't do that unless you hate what you're doing it to.

That was the best dramatic scene in the movie, but if you were looking for a drama you were in the wrong place. This was an action movie and the action was well done with enough of a story behind it. The pacing was good. The characters were believable. Other than a few of the early scenes with Lungren and one with Randy Corture (sp?) the acting was decent. I would describe it as an 80s action film shot with todays technique and style. I enjoyed all the homages to the various actor's past films. And I just enjoyed it overall. I came in expecting a an action film and that was what I got.

I guess I just had way too high expectations. It seemed so cliche', hacky and slapped together. I thought Stallone was completely self aggrandizing by placing himself in the lead. He looked like one of the puppets from Phil Collins' video "Land of Confusion". It hurt me to watch him run like a little midget.

YouTube- Phil Collins Genesis Land Of Confusion

Jet Li was injured during the shoot so he was limited in what he could do. Statham was doing more pirrohuettes than a balerina in Swan Lake. Nobody in my opinion showed me anything new or cutting edge. Which brings me to my next point.

Stallone should not have directed that movie. The camera was too shaky (even for the intended effect) and the fight scenes were spliced to death. Hell, even some scenes were in fast motion, like no one could tell. You could even see the trenches that were built in the explosion where Jet Li cuts off Eric Roberts from the helicopter.

The scene in the church was just in poor taste and shot like a B movie. which leads me to my next point. Stallone should not have written that movie. The way Willis dropped the "Let's not start sucking each other's *****" line made me cringe. The coup de gras being the use of the word "dipsh!t" in the climactic one liner. This movie was full of hacky, bogus, old dialogue that would have had a hard time making it in the '80s.

I'm gonna stop short of the final battle, because it wasn't. Other than some WWF moves between Stallone and Austin, the only struggle was by the viewer. Dude, they took out a whole army just running around. The only thing that was missing was John Madden yelling "boom!" in the background.

In summation, I hope Stallone isn't allowed to call in any more favors from his action buddies because this movie was a grade A turd.
