sweet, cause if we were gonna go naked I'd have to go shave my sack real quick...it's been awhile I play better when I feel more aerodynamic... Pagan knows what I'm talking about, right buddy?
And why the eff not!? Besides...you don't see us loitering in the rap threads, do ya? What the hell you two Eminemoneas doin' in here? Um...in case no one noticed, metal songs have lyrics too. You're on your own on this one bro...
it works on a few songs. "Come to the Sabbath" is an all time classic and his voice actually goes well with the song. But I agree that he can get unlistenable. He rose during Halford's heyday when finding the singer who could hit those high notes was actually sought out [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqcOVzx4CqY"]YouTube- Mercyful Fate "Come to the Sabbath"[/ame]
If you could get one of Pagans singers to sing in one of Inflames bands you wold have something...really. cant stand the grunting its way overdone..who is the best "grunter" of all time ??? and that opera type metal song kind kills me a little bit inside every time I heard it queens ryche is probably my all time most hated metal band. some of the high pitched stuff works..I liked early anthrax and exodus..the singers fit the speed. Kamelot isn't opera metal bro. Check it out... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJeqUW-T5hE"]Rule The World[/ame]
And what is probably the best combination of both worlds, and one of - if not the - best bands out there now.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUn4jXZko5E"]Symphony X ~ Set The World On Fire[/ame]
These bands are the closest thing to Pagans style vocals I really dig: btw i f'n love Jeff Loomis on guitar. 2:50 to 3:45 makes me want to blow my load [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=majXSmcEgoQ"]YouTube- The river dragon has come[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnjeWhQaJL0"]YouTube- Mercenary — 11 Dreams[/ame]
Dude, "The Obsidian Conspiracy" is REALLY close to being a masterpiece. Best metal record I've bought since "Design Your Universe" by Epica (I know, female fronted metal with some opera style vocals, leave me alone I have a female fronted metal band fetish right now. I'm seeing Epica in December and I forked over the extra $30.00 so I could go to the meet and greet, any chance to stand close to Simone Simons is a good thing in my opinion.). On topic: The record store I go to every weekend (it is all metal, nothing else) is bringing me in a vinyl copy of "Poetry" and of course the CD. I'll be there on release day. One of my most anticipated records of the year. Of course, Pagan introduced me to the band through this forum and for that I am thankful. Perfectly stated, they are what Queensryche could have become if Chris DeGarmo did not decide to fly planes instead of play music.
Among the Living is a CLASSIC record. That said, there is nothing more I'd like to do then punch Joey Belladonna in the face. Dude is awful. Look for some Anthrax live stuff with John Bush singing the classics, it is amazing to think what some of those classic tracks could have sounded like with him at the wheel as opposed to whiney Joey.
The Politics of Ecstasy will always be my favorite Nevermore album, Dreaming Neon Black is up there as well...
They are one of those bands that I am late to discover and I'm realizing what I've been missing. Nothing better then discovering a band late and realizing they have 7 albums out. It's like a new record comes out everytime I go to the store for 2 months...LOL! **** has the internet made finding new bands and music you might never have found before so easy.
Here is my fav. song from each of those albums...if you haven't already heard them [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfYLrNXv3Q0"]YouTube- Nevermore - Next in Line[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4DSarGZrNc"]YouTube- Nevermore - Poison Godmachine[/ame] and this is from Jeff Loomis '08 solo album Zero Order Phase... Bro, I'd crawl through a street of broken glass to kiss the lugnuts of the truck that brings her panties to the cleaners....um....I mean I really like Simone too. Agree 100%. Bush was THE singer for that band.
I try to like Maiden, I really do...I respect the hell outta them and what they have accomplished, and I know they have influenced many bands that I now listen to today, but for some reason I just can't sit and listen to more than a couple of songs at a time...I grew up on old metallica and slayer, which then got me into the harder genres like death metal, in which I was introduced to the band Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and so on.
Maybe good ol' Chris Barnes can teach him a thing or two... YouTube- Cannibal Corpse - Force Fed Broken Glass
Dude, I've had the tickets for almost 2 months and the show is not until December, the anticipation is KILLER. I'm going to be a babbling idiot for sure and my girlfriend will be standing there laughing her *** off at me just like I was rolling on the ground in hysterics when she was a babbling moron when she met Bjorn Gelotte from In Flames. It will be fun!
I got to see her up close when Kamelot played here. She came onstage to sing "The Haunting". They're playing here again in two weeks. Fingers crossed she'll be there!
Pagan, have you heard the latest UFO album The Visitor? If you can get past the fact that its not the 80's version, its not to bad. Its the original band minus MS, but they have Vinne Moore playing guitar.
Didn't know they had a new disc, I'll have to pick it up. We opened for them last year. Was great talking to Phil Mogg!
These guys are amazing and by far the best melodic death band...dare I say ever, possibly better than early In Flames? lol anyways check out all of their albums, I can actually say this is one of the bands in which I truly love every release they've ever had...here is a track from there latest '09 album entitled Across the Dark...enjoy YouTube - Insomnium-Down With the Sun
Same here I was digging Metallica waaay before anyone gave a dam except those smart metal fans in Europe. I still don't think till this day that anything touches Reign in Blood though Slayer went short and sweet and fast. Talk about a record that stands that test of time. Best metal record ever!
