Jevon Walker's career is over, cut short via a knee injury that robbed him of his athleticism, so the Vikes had to find someone they felt could come in and contribute quickly..Greg Camarillo is a sharp guy..so they made the trade.

The interesting blowback to me is whether or not Benny Sapp's arrival means Jason Allen's departure? I'd suspect not as JA is a decent enough player and Allen and Sapp as the gunners would form a nice pair on that unit, Sapp more or less replaces the departed Nate Jones on the Specials.

benny sapp's arrival is nate ness's exit IMO not Jason Allen though he could be let go depending on who hits the waiver wires

    So:

    Davis
    Smith
    Caroll
    Sapp
    J Allen

When Will Allen recovers do we carry 6 Cb's?

Though Nolan Carroll's Return ability makes that a less difficult decision, but 3 Cb's to play on ST's?

Nolan carried 10 DB's in Denver. We carry 9 IIRC. Typically, I think you want a guy who can play both S and CB. Both Ness and Allen (Jason) have done that before. It'll be between the two IMO, if we go 10.

It really hinges on WAllen probably, and I think there is a fair chance we keep 10 since Sapp, JAllen, and Carroll would all have significant ST roles (probably Jones too).

Do you see Sapp playing any Safety Alen?

    Davis
    Smith
    Sapp
    Carroll
    j allen
    Will Allen

    Culver
    Clemons
    Bell
    Jones?

I doubt it. Maybe emergency situation but didn't they have Smith playing centrefield in one of the practices? I recall reading that.

I meant whether we keep Ness and JAllen really hinges on WAllen IMO.

Yeah, Smith was the Single High Safety at least once during practices.

To me, FS is where Smith belongs as I think his skills and weaknesses line up better in that position. You can bring up tackling but has Clemons shown anything in that Department?

Think about it, his poor change of direction doesn't mean as much, his tackling is no worse than Clemons, but his range and height with the play coming at him would be a real asset as he Wr's/Te's couldn't just use a height advantage to take the ball out of the air.

    strictly my .02.

I don't think he's gifted enough laterally to be a FS.

It doesn't require him to cover signiificant ground with his range, unlike safety.

We run a lot of Man-Free from what I've seen. IMO Sean shouldn't be playing single high.

Well, what i'm thinking is Carroll takes JA's place, Sapp takes JA's role on D and ST, and that creates the room for White or a Dlineman or Wr.

could be. personally i would like to keep jason allen. i dont panic when he's in. If reshard jones and nolan carroll have to play this year i'll be worried. next year will be carroll's year IMO and I'm not really a fan of reshard jones. sapp, JA and hopefully WA all can play CB if an injury hit vontae or sean and we could function close to 100%. If Carroll were somehow forced into action I fear we would have a Chris Clemons 2009 learning experience out there and probably worse since he is much more raw. Culver can spell both Bell and Clemons in case of injury but Reshard Jones would be a disaster this year if he had to spell someone. Next year maybe he's ready to replace Bell but the jury is till out IMO. Depending on the extent of the injury I could see Will Allen being let go. If he's not back to 100% then he wont be as good as Jason or Sapp this year and since we drafted Carroll there would be no reason to keep him around for next year

i would much rather use that spot to find a more consistant lg,c,st's ace.im interested to know who would be replaced from the starting rotation of langford/grant,starks/solia/mcdaniel,odrick/mcdouglas.also we are having to make a difficult choice already for wr.bm,hartline, bess and moore, wallace, turner and pruitt..i doubt we line up with more than 5 recievers very much so theres not a major need for someone else..it's why we were able to trade cammy,we are good there especially if someone on the d like carroll will be the returner. we are not great at fs,o-line and st's

Greg C did have a drop in two yrs, never mind just 09.

Greg C is not a "go up and get it" type of player...
