Hopefully he'll f*ck up their changing room like he did ours and then throw a massive strop when we beat them.
Glad to see Balotelli in typical fine form. Played 15 minutes and got 1 goal and 1 yellow card. It is like both are automatic for the guy.
Yeah turned it on for the 2nd half. Have been impressed with Wolfsburg. They should really be winning. Has been a very good game also, very end to end. Also Dzeko causing Bayern all sorts of problems.
First half was all Bayern, Schweinstiger was excellent all game! Second half was more equally balanced, was a very enjoyable game, going on the first half Bayern deserved to win, going by the second half both team should have earned a draw. Schweinstiger deserved a goal though.
Yeah! Hopefully he impresses in Italy and is picked up by an Italian club, the English game doesn't suit him at all. What a waste for £24m!
Just finished watching the Arsenal game, my thoughts: The Good: -Arshavin's facial expressions always crack me up. -Like Chamakh constantly moving. He switched up on both wings while still playing CF. Always moving -Theo breakout season? Blackpool's LB was a tree but still his runs were class all game. Liked him getting back and playing D as well as scoring with his left. -Arshavin's penalty hitting side net. Wanted to see Chamakh take it but nevermind. -Song's versatility. Maybe my favorite player. -Clichy really growing into the game. Started week but after winning a couple headers really got going forward. A lack of pressure will help this of course. -Rosicky did a great job filling in for Nasri. -Wilshere seems to have picked up some tackling while at Bolton. Like what I see. -Chamakh showed some pace getting around that dude while drawing the red. Impressive -I like Arshavin playing behind the CF and making late runs/sending in through balls a lot more then him on the wing. -Sagna's hustle. That run down the field where he forced a corner after just going for one on the other side of the pitch ruled. -Diaby running things in the second half. He is his best when making runs/running at people instead of holding up play. -Bringing in Cesc and RVP while up 5-0 in the 60th. What were the Blackpool defenders thinking. Probably a lot of "oh boy" and "why God" -Not hearing a came commentated by John Harkes, JP Delacammara and Taylor Twellman. Harkes is so bad. -Verminator not breaking a sweat. That Vela back heel flick over the defender to himself. Nasty Chamakh scoring and hearing "he put plenty of neck into it" Brits. Not so good: -Blackpool suck but vs a better team, there is still to much "cute passing" around the box -All Theo needs to do is learn how to send in a good ball. Why can he still not do this consistently? -Diaby's first half. Looked like his lackadaisical self. -Chamakh's finishing. I know it's still way early and he did eventually scored but he looked like another bedtner, waisting chances out there. Not counting his rookie season at Bordeaux he scored 55 goals in 220 appearances. Just Ok -Arshavin blew in the second half. -RVP picking up a knock. If Robben is the glassman, what does that make rvp -Chamakh is seriously giving Sagna a run for his money in the worst hair of the premier league.
Blackpool's game plan today was completely wrong. With the level of talent that team has and playing at the Emirates, there is noway you can try go out and try out play Arsenal, or they will rip you to shreds. That is exactly what happened today and really 6-0 flattered Blackpool. When playing Arsenal you have to be physical, disciplined and play counter-attacking football. Teams like Blackpool will never outplay Arsenal, but they can out muscle them. You guys were impressive today, but you will face much tougher opposition. Putting in that type of display against the top 6 will be the key for the Gunners.
Sebastien Squillaci to undergo medical at Arsenal http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/8928237.stm We have been busy..fingers crossed we get either Given of Schwarzer
He's with besiktas in turkey. They have a pretty decent team, guti should be setting him and quaresma up alot.
cares more about Brasil than the EPL. Didn't get along with Hughes, so he went away - in turkey now i think i was out of town this weekend and man did i pick a bad weekend to be away from EPL action, damn! biggest surprise for me was newcastle's unraveling of villa. I knew their back line would be suspect, and i knew carroll was something special, but that was ridiculous! thoroughly enjoyed the fulham/man u match. i respect fergie but its enjoyable to watch him twist in the wind sometimes. hughes looks like he might be working out for fulham.
The crazy thing about that Villa game was that if Carew scores that penalty, then its a completely different game, as Villa go 1-0 up. I think at that point they are then full of confidence and Newcastle struggle to get back in the game. But Villa seem to be brittle mentally at the moment and there midfield does not protect the back 4. Once Newcastle went 2-0 up that was it, Villa were done. They stopped working, lacked leadership and looked un-interested, which was Newcastle went rampent. The loss of Milner and O'Neill has hit that club and they need a new manager badly. Interestingly enough, Bob Bradley is meant to be a strong candidate to take the job.
Yeah I've heard the BB to villa rumor for a bit now, wondering when that is actually going to happen. You can tell they didn't have proper leadership there, and you're correct about that Carew shot.
Reading around the internet, everyone seems to be surprised Arsene is purchasing older players. However, Arsene's always talked about getting older players but he always said he did not have the cash for them. If you read The Making Of A Modern Superclub: Arsenal, he talks about his criteria for players and one of them I believe was being experienced. The writer, whose brilliant but the name escapes me, asked Arsene why he is going away from his own standards in teh book. I think it was all because of funds. Btw, we're strongly rumoured with Juan and possibly Ciani.
He's always tried to have a mix of experience and youth - Gallas was a typical example of that but his personallity made it look differently. I really hope we bring in either Given of Schwarzer and a defensive/holding midfielder...maybe a cheeky bid for Mascharano...I know we have no shot but he would be ideal.
Great signing in Squillaci guys, think he is a very good CB and will do well for you. After seeing Song lined up at CB on Saturday, it was pretty evident another CB was desperetly needed. As for a keeper, both Given and Schwarzer seem to really want a move out of their respective clubs. Stockdale has been impressive for Fulham since Schwarzer has been absent with injury, so Fulham might want to cash in on him since they are more confident in his replacement. As for Given, Mancini all but said last night that Given is not happy at all at City and wants out considering Hart is now the number 1. Ive seen alot of Shay when he was at Newcastle and internationally and he is probably the most consistent keeper in the league. I think a move to Arsenal would be perfect for both parties, as Shay really does deserve some silverware.
Saw the Liverpool game last night... Going to be a long season if there are no changes to the starting 11. Ngog... out... Agger should not be playing LB... Lucas is crap. And I'm not sold on Jovanovic. Certainly, getting Cole back and Poulsen in will help... but the depth at certain positions, or lack thereof, is troubling. Impressive by MC, particularly Hart and Johnson.
Probably the worst Liverpool squad I have seen in a long time. Simply dont have the depth in talent that the top 6 have. Liverpool desperetly need a buyer for the club or I think they will finish around 8th in the league. Even if they do find a buyer, it will be too late to do anything in this transfer window.
really? finally? awesome! the good news is Aston laid that egg this last weekend. Given that is the state of the team before BB arrives, this might work to his advantage - i mean he'd have to lose 7 to nil to be worse than the current guy, right? I know BB isn't popular in the states, but the dude is capable of getting better results-per-talent than people give him credit for. He took very underwhelming USA teams last year to beat Spain in the Confederations Cup and almost take out Brazil in the finals. THAT is an accomplishment. Starting Ricardo Clark against Ghana is not. Plus admit it - we're all morbidly curious how a 'Murrican will fare in the EPL as a manager. Should be interesting. : popcorn : Liverpool? Well i'm not a fan of scousers lol. any liverpool fans here though, seriously?
I've never seen a Liverpool side play so badly than against City. They got pushed off the ball and had no shape across the middle - they better hope Gerrard gets in the "mood" this year of it could get messy!
UEFA Champions League group draw GROUP A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, Spurs, Twente GROUP B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Hapoel Tel Aviv GROUP C: Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor GROUP D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan GROUP E: Bayern Munich, Roma, Basel, Cluj GROUP F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, Zilina GROUP G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre GROUP H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Partizan Belgrade 2 trips to eastern europe is never easy, but arsenal better win that group. Milan and Madrid together along with sp*rs getting a tough group looks good.
Anyone here watch the CONCACAF? MLS-side Real Salt Lake was beating Cruz Azul IN mexico last night 3-1 at one point, and Azul came back to tie 3-3, then pass RSL 4-3. Later, RSL tied it at 4-4 before Cruz netted a 5th and won, 5-4. wow. Last night my Sounders fell to Monterrey, the FMF Champions from last year IIRC, 2-0 (although we did have a goal that was disallowed due to a phantom offsides call). We had 22k people at this match in Seattle, too.
so, FIFA had an official inquiry into North Korea's dealings with their national team; surely you heard how they were immasculated in front of thousands of people, the coach was threatened with execution and all that crap... Well apparently FIFA, hesitant to get involved in ANYthing, finally did something about it. They sent a f@#king letter. seriously. They sent a letter asking North Korea if the allegations were true. North Korea, not surprisingly, replied and said the allegations were false. What does Sepp Blatter do? Proclaim that they've done their due diligence and all is fine & dandy, of course! Huzzah!
Unbelievable! both Blatter and Platinni have been bad for the game At least they're not as bad as the Formula 1 leaders - they dish out a punishment then the overall boss changes his mind as he friends with the guilty party! Hopefully Juve turn over City
