to make a quick improvement, Beef up our mediocre o-line...beck isnt having much time to show us what he has, so...draft some good O linemen high (2 round). i like OT from Pitt, Jeff Otah. By beefing up our line then it will help beck, ronnie, WR, and DEF out cuz they will be resting on side lines. Then if we are trading Jason taylor we should be able to get a decent 2 rounder or more (i wouldnt mind getting a 5th too cuz the is talent there i like) for him we will have to take chris long to replace him, which i like long even if we dont trade JT. but our draft should look something like this... -1 chris long DE, virginia -2 Jeff otah. OT Pitt (probably best OT at this point but still a beast) -2 (From JT Trade)Fred Davis TE, USC (might spot him higher in the 2 round pick if isnt gonna fall. Dre Moore DT, Maryland would also be a possibility too. A beast at stopping the run. -2 (From CC Trade) Dwight lowery CB SJST (Int. machine, led nation in int's) Then we still next ZT replacement or future replacement(LB), DT/TE (depending who we take in the 2nd), WR, OG (beefing up depth or possible starter since hadnot wants alot of money. -3 Drew Radovich OG, USC -4 (best LB available) but take a look at Corey McKeon, LB Nebraska. here is what they say about him and i quote "Reminds me a bit of Zach Thomas, in that Corey McKeon's lacking size may cause him to slip come April. Whoever drafts him will be getting a steal. McKeon plays bigger than his size. He registered seven sacks in 2005" sounds like a good replacement for zach. -6 Jason Rivers WR Hawaii (might need to get him in the 5th though if he beasts up the bowl game. but we might get a conditional pick in the fifth (lets hope cuz rivers could be a steal) -7 BPA too hard to rate 7th rounder this early Possible 5th rounders: Brad Cottam, TE Tennessee is a possible 5th round pick. he is 6'8'' 270 4.68- 40 and they say he could be the best blocking TE in the draft. if no to davis in the 2nd. Andrew Bain, OG Miami "a massive guard who can help any teams running game" FA: WR, Berrian, Braynt johnson, crayton....one of the or even a different one TE: LJ smith: if none in the draft HOW DO YOU THINK THIS DRAFT WOULD BE. ANY SUGESSTIONS???
I am down with any mock with Fred Davis and CLong if we could get Okam with our 2nd pick, that would be awesome
ya if otah falls then yes but id rather have otah over him to beef up our line. i like lowery over davis too, cuz that 5th round TE from tennessee looks to be good fit cuz our TE SUCK big time a blocking and they say he is the best blocking TE and decent recieving and even decent speed for big TE -4.6
REm JT is goin to get traded to a contendor as well n it might be a top 20's pick. so thats another spot for a hardy, otah, or davis.
Rivals has Davis at #72 it will be interesting to see how the TE's shake out after the junior picture is finalized
i see a contender takin a risk on him. indy might needs one but i doubt them cuz thats there first pick. but i do see someone giving a third. he still has a few good years left, but i wouldnt give him away for anything less
If we got anything for Jason Taylor I'd be shocked. If someone offered us a 3rd I'd take it in a heartbeat at this point.
I'd love to get Long, Davis, and Lowery. Lowery is outstanding. Having watched him here at SJSU I believe his skill set transfers nicely into the NFL.
New England got a first round pick for Deion Branch. We got a 2nd round pick for Wes Welker. New Orleans got two first round picks for Ricky Williams. And let's not forget Herschel Walker. Wacky trades happen all the time. A player's value is subjective between the teams working on a deal.
not when they're 34 yrs old. Notice the age discrepancies between all those players and taylor. not to mention they were all offensive players.
The Walker deal was the crime of the century, it will never happen again. The Saints found the ultimate idiot to deal with (Wanny). The other two were trades made for needs for young players. I just don't think we'll get anything for JT. Not that I don't HOPE we swindle someone for a high pick.
Taylor is one year removed from the DPOY award. A team running a 3-4 scheme will take him without question. He still plays at a high level as a DE/OLB. I think a 1st round pick is unlikely, but I believe a 2nd and a 3rd can be obtained from a sufficiently needy team. I keep thinking of Denver just because I believe conditions there are perfect for a Taylor trade.
keep in mind, Miami didn't trade 2 first rounders for Ricky, we traded a first and a conditional pick for him. He just had such a monster year for us (1800+yds) that the conditional pick turned into a 1st.
are u kidding me? miami gave 2 firsts becuase they believed they were 1 good player 1 RB away from a SB contention. thats why. those 2 YOUNGER players were ntn more then average players on agood team. nONE WERE WORTHY of nethign near a DPOY not even 6th man of the year if nethin of that nature were even capable of existing in this sport. Look what burelson got from SEA just b/c of need and basically the pissed off mood of losing Hutch to minny. Trust it can happen and if i recall an article said miami had gotten 5 offers of 1st roudn picks to mia for JT and one wasn't the bills while 1 was NE. whether it was true or not i dono but i assure U a team will give up a good pick for a DPOY with his attitude as well and smarts for the game.
well you guys have kind of got of topic but Just Say we could get a 2nd cuz its possibly. How does the draft look. if fill major needs with (i think) lots BPA.
All of these "wacky" trades all involve players who were not 34. Why is it some people bring up what we got for Chambers as a bench mark. One guy is 28 the other is 34, hhhhhhmmmmmm who do you think will garner a 2nd rounder? The only FO stupid enough to give a 2nd for a 34 year old was/is........us I'm afraid. Or at least we were when Saban and Wanny were here.
So we truned down offers of 1st round picks........really? A team this bad , with this many holes and we turned down a 1st rounder. Huh, yet we accept 2nd rounders like it's Halloween. Yeah totally logical...........if you have s$#@ for brains.
i doubt it too, but i think we could fet a 2nd for him last year after his DMVP year. i i still think we could get a 2nd this year
I could see us getting a 2nd round and maybe a 5th round pick for him. I would love to see him come to denver too. I live in Colorado and would welcome the chance to see him play in person.
i think you mean jake long not jack...but IMO he is overrated. he had a decent to good year this year until he got dominated by vernon gholston, DE ohio st. he isnt a #1 overall pick. id much rather take jeff otah in the 2nd.
Jake Long is definitely not #1 overall material. I wouldn't be surprised if he fell to the 2nd round, honestly. Ryan Clady, however...
