http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/08/18/rex-ryan-says-dungy-unfairly-judged-me/ Come to Jets camp and meet the "real" me? So is he just a phony that is playacting on Hard Knocks?
That is him. You shouldn't judge a person based on their vocabulary. So he throws the F Bomb a lot. Who cares. So do I. Does that make me a bad person, or less genuine? Ryan gets the most out of his players, regardless of how much we hate the guy. There are various forms of motivation, and god forbid it doesn't match Dungy's religious I love you and care for you attitude, Ryan is all of a sudden someone he wouldn't hire, or deemed inappropriate? I hate the guy too, but if you don't give credit where it is due, then I pity you.
I read half of this article and realized that I didn't care enough to finish it. Let Ryan have a tickle fight with Dungy for the rest of the preseason. Or, do the ol' swear jar technique, within two weeks, he should have enough money in there to pay Revis what he is asking.
Yes there are various ways to motivate people, cussing and demeaning being one of those ways (always useful when trying to act like one of the boys), where I disagree with you is that Ryan gets the most out of ......... If that were the case Revis would be in camp sitting on his haunches while wagging his tail just waiting to please his master. Sadly such is not the case.
Bart Scott is their Channing Crowder - only not funny. Decent, unspectacular player that loves to run his mouth and give the other team some motivation to kick his ***.
Jimmy Johnson said it best yesterday on WFAN in regards to if he would have liked Hard Knocks in his camp while coaching. He said no because when the camera is on, people change and become what they are not.
Gafin, it is a business at the end of the day. When I referenced that Ryan gets the most of his players, I meant when he is on the field, be it at practice or during a game. Ryan has no control over contract negotiations and hold outs. That is merely between the FO and Player/Agent.
I was under the impression that Tony's comments were not really directed at Ryan "the person" but as Ryan the "representative" of the NFL.... I friggen love Ryan, he's a walking talking soundbite and it makes me laugh.. mostly because despite his mouth, and the jests success, they.. HE has yet to beat us...
I think Ryan's response is idiotic. Dungy never said Ryan was a bad guy. Dungy said he didn't like to be around cursing and he implied that the commissioner might talk to Ryan b/c it did not cast the league in a very professional light.
his mouth will come back to haunt him, there were times were the word FU$# was being used so much that it became evident that he was saying it purposely, and that the word itself, reached the top of the players consciousness. to impose your immorality on 53 men and trying to accomplish greatness that way, is no way to go through life son.. I have nothing against F bombs, but making them the star of your show, to me, shows a lack of class and respect... that being said, he can go Fu$# himself.
And your post shows a certain level of ignorance. So if a MENSA member swore freely at will and used the F word as a substitute for every second word he/she isn't intelligent right?
i watched a ep of the jets hard knocks the other night and was takin back by how much ryan used foul language.it was very unprofessional and almost like watching a piece on a street gang.what was worse was that it seemed half the time ryan used the words it was as if he was just using them as a way to relate to the team of hoodlums and gangsters and i know they are not.i too use some of those words in certain text(never around a home owner) but if i showed up on my jobsite and started talking like that i would be run off the job and ruin any chance of future work stemming from recomendation based on the foul language i used on the job site.theres a time and a place for it.it lowered my respect for ryan greatly.does it make him look unintellegent?not to me but it does make him look extremely unprofessional atleast in my eyes.
So does flipping off people at a MMA match. anywho, from what I've heard tony dungy is supposedly going to pay a visit to Jest HQ, which I like as it shows he has a backbone and is not a bit hesitant to go where he just dispareged. As for Rexxy, sometimes I think he is bipolar, recall last yr when he said "we have been eliminated from the playoffs" during a in season press conference?
Im willing to bet rex ryan isn't stupid. He may cuss a lot, he may be an arrogant prick, etc, but I doubt a dumb *** can be this involved in a billion dollar business. Now is he what we would say smart well thats a different story.
IMO Ryan isn't stupid. He just lacks discipline and self control. Inevitably that will lead to being a media darling while he's winning. Unfortunately, it will also result in many outlandish and controversial statements that will cast the organization in a negative light. These will be magnified when he isn't winning, which no matter how smart you are will also happen.
I wouldn't say he was unfairly judged. But I would say he is right when he said cursing doesn't make someone a bad person and not cursing doesn't make someone a good person. Dungy should get off his high horse and criticize stuff that needs criticizing, not a meaningless thing like cursing.
It's not necessarily meaningless. Dungy would see it as unprofessional. An unprofessional representation of an organization or the league is something worthy of criticism.
Exactly, if Rexxy wish to play boy pirate captain then he should be prepared to take the heat a Captain takes. Even his own momma got on him for that display, not that Sparano is that much better as he says "I'm not an angel, and I'm not proud of it"..Rexxy is proud of it..
I highly doubt the NFL or the Jets are losing business because Ryan likes to curse and people view that as unprofessional. If Dungy is going to make that claim I'd like to see the proof. Dungy would view it as unprofessional because he is viewing it from his own moral point of view. I doubt his criticism is because he has some study that says it hurts the image of the team or the league to have a coach curse on HBO.
Rexxy felt the sting bubba, it is not as if he had to deliver a Henry v St Crispin Day's Speech, however to be so gutter snipe to merely drop F Bombs embarrassed the accomplished in the NFL. Thusly Tony Dungy spoke, as he should have, and he showed up.
