Mornin' all: Interesting, the impression was Dobbins ankle was a minor issue. Steelers' Stefan Logan is on the roster bubble due to two Rook Wr's he would be an excellent fit in Miami.
not real familiar with logan.can he be a return guy?i really don't see how we have the room at wr to bring in someone else?i would rather not take the reps from the guys we have in pruitt(sp),wallace, rgm and so-on. marshall, hartline, cammy, bess, turner as of right now and thats if rgm isn't kept as a return man which i see that job going to cobbs and carroll so far.i think we are pretty good at wr.would rather use the space to bring in competition that may be needed elsewhere.
Interesting, I wonder if the utube vids of their practices peeved Sparano? What is that music playing the background concerning Pat White? Is that a signal flare being shot into the sky?
LaVicka says Dobbins and Cobbs are both practicing today. Sounds like the boot is precautionary. As far as Sparano's comment about practice correlating to the game... well, if that's how the offense has looked in practice, that's pretty disgusting.
Gosh, sorta makes for inefficient games as well, Sparano is messin' up with that stance. If you don't practice in it, how do you know how well you will play in that muck when it matters?
if we did that would we be short a starting caliber dt for rotation with soliai?dotson looked ok and we still have mcdaniels who also looked good.i figured we would still leave starks there atleast till the end of preseason so we can get a good look at odrick, grant and douglas.
Sparano said Cobbs and Dobbins will "do a little something". How would Dobbins practice in a hard cast?
Ask LaVicka. He tweeted it. I'm just adding to the pool of information here. Also from LaVicka: Sparano prefers a good looking practice to an accurate practice, apparently.
Chris Clemons should have blown up Josh Johnson on that play, he had the proper angle to really lay the wood on him, instead he pulled up and went high and puny Johnson ran right through that weak *** arm tackle.
Unless Sparano is having Dobbins fetch coffee and donuts, and unless they've invented a bicycle that works with casts, then it's reasonable to assume he'll be on the field one way or another.
Logan would solve the Returner battle, the others would have to make the roster on their talent at Wr solely, that would be the point of bringing him in. Sparano has said he would make a roster spot for a Returner only, but Logan can play Rb as well and he is jet fast.
Once 760 puts up the presser I'll download it and listen to it to see what he actually said. I do think Sparano sent up a flare about Will Allen's health, as a rule what I've found with Sparano is he will tell everyone what is going on, but few people understand what he was saying at the time. Sparano is honest for a HC, but very cryptic, one has to sift through what he is saying to really "get it".
Possibly. I'm not very worried about Will Allen. Generally, players recover from arthroscopic surgery in a few weeks, which is about the timeframe we're looking at for the regular season. He might miss week 1, but with the Bills' anemic passing game, he won't be missed too much. If Favre still isn't back by week 2, then the Vikings' passing game won't be much of a threat either, so we still might not miss him.
I'm not overly concerned about W. Allen. I agree that he'll be back soon enough and I believe that J.A. and Carroll are as good as the vast majority of 3rd CBs. I'm also not that concerned about the offensive performance other than the penalties. I've always believed that in the first two preseason games you're mostly watching individual performances.
Saw that and raised an eye brow. Does anyone know if Miami had intetest in him before he signed from the CFL?
Agreed. Makes me sick to see someone pass up on a sweet shot like that. Especially a dolphins defender.
true, plus i think we have a lb or 3 that could play those positions by adding a little weight.this is one thing i am really liking about our d being so "interchangable" and not missing too much production within rotations or minor injuries.the next guy can step up and play at the same high level even if it's just for a few plays. and also i guess moving starks would help with the "best 3/4" on the field on d but i just hate seeing a guy get bounced around so much ala jason allen..give him a position and stick with it unless theres a injury that forces the move.all in all i'm glad we have the option of putting starks back at de if need be.
I wouldn't be concerned with Will Allen right now, but if they start looking at veteran CB's on the wire in a few weeks it might be an indication that they think the knee might be more problematic than they'd hoped.
That cost Clemons: Rafi and myself were discussing Ty Culver winning the FS job, I was surprised that he did not win it after Clemons had a look, Rafi felt Clemons was a lock. The outcome clearly remains to be seen, but I suspect Culver and Reshad Jones will have some whacks, maybe Amaya as well.
Really don't know, Logan began his career on the Phins Practice Squad in 07, he was waived and signed in the CFL and lit up the league. I wonder if they think he could have some Joe Morris in his game? 5'7 ultra quick Rb hiding behind 6'5 Olinemen makes for a nightmare for the "D" to identify and attack.
Not exactly. I thought Culver was most likely the more consistent player, better option, unless Clemons made a mental leap. My prediction going into camp was that Culver would win the FS spot. If it's the thread I'm thinking of, I said that Clemons was a lock to get the first shot at the position.
http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...-sparano-says-free-safety-job-still-open.html In a nutshell.. I'd expect to see a heavy dose of Rolly Lumbala vs the Jags. Maybe he plays well, the Steelers need a Fb..we need a Returner..
And it is raining, odd that Ron Wolf is out there, is a decision being made on a player and Tuna wants other eyes to get a second opinion? Especially in a rain storm.
After "high character" and "high motor", the phrase used to describe our defensive draft picks was "versatile". I think we will see a lot of that... but not in a J Allen way.
I hope it's not getting in his head at this point. He just needs to make a few cataches in the next game and I imagine this all goes away.
