Perhaps it was the rain, or perhaps they thought they'd just bulldoze a weak Buc team, but the 1st team offense (except for Brown) looked like they didn't want to be there. Drops, penalties, and just a lethargic performance from them.

I'm not reading anything into the guard, center, guard mix. I think the offensive line coach in him (Sparano) wants these guys working to the point that if they lose one (which they will) during the season, it will not matter.

mistakes and the negativity are always easily captured in the first preseason game.

I think we are okay as far a depth on the interior line; as well as the interior of the defensive line. However, I saw some concerns on the perimeter of both lines when the second and third strings came in. I am pretty dang confident the nobody will run up the middle on us and nobody will stop us from running up the middle on them, no matter if we have injuries at those positions.

I am, however, very concerned with the depth on the outside of both lines.

    What a waste of time.

I only saw bits and pieces, but both teams played slow and sloppy due to the conditions.

This doesn't help either team with evaluations.

It was good to see Turner finally do something on the field. But Moore made a really nice play and is freakin huge for a WR.

On another note regarding the game, I think we tend to forget how much parity there is in this league now. If you throw in the dumbing down of the play calling, and emphasis on evaluation, it really evens the field. Some may be "concerned" about our # 1s not "beating" the Bucs #1s 21-0, but its really not that type of thing.

We're not gonna know what we really got until week 1 in buffaload.

Actually it does help with evaluations. We should be a much better team in the elements, but thanks to the practice bubble we don't practice in the elements as much. The weather elements are a huge factor in many games at the start and end of the season. To say that it didn't help evaluations is very far from being a fact. You need to see how players adjust or don't adjust to the elements.

No, no........ It helps. You can see all the physical stuff at practice. It's the mental mistakes that are the difference. You hope that the physical kid can play but he's making the mental mistakes out of boredom with the high number of repititions in practice.........or something. You just hope the kid with the physical talent doesn't screw up when it matters. Then you get that film the next day after the game. It confirms that he is a ******.

Oh, are you talking about that one route they showed? I only caught the end of the replay so I didn't see the error.

The commentators bashed him a bit for a route that he "rounded off" that made Thigpen wait to throw him the ball, and caused an incompletion. I didnt think it was that bad, but I dunno... I thought he had a good game, which was nice to see. Personally i still think he's the lock for the #5 WR. he has more upside IMO, and we spent a draft pick on him. I think the FO will lean more towards that.

If they could somehow teach Pat Turner to block and convert him to a TE... he'd be a hell of a redzone threat.

It's been done before. David Martin was a WR-convert

Thiggy waited and the ball wasn't there it was behind Turner anyway.
griping about Turner on that play was unfounded

Thats what I thought, regardless of Thiggy "waiting" to throw it or not, it was a bad pass too, it was behind Turner. Sure, Turner may have been a bit lazy on the route, but it wasnt a great throw either. Although, I guess the claim could be made that Thiggy's throw was late, because the timing was off due to Turner's poor route.

Turner would need to put on more muscle weight though. He just doesn't seem to be physically dominant. To me he is too lengthy. At his height he would need to be more around the 250-270 lb range to be a legitimate threat at TE.

Edit: I am talking about blocking and receiving as a TE.

All I'm saying is it's poor excuse.

The Bucs drove right through the mud for their 1st qtr. TD.

The OL was able to block
The receivers were able to make their cuts
THe QB was able to make an accurate and spiraled pass, even a deep ball.
The WR's were able to catch the wet ball.

    Professionals adapting and delivering.

The PHins weren't able to do any of the above.
Henne was throwing absolute ducks and it was pathetic.
    WR drops galore.
Inexcusable don't care what the conditions are. If the other team produced it's no excuse.

    All I'm saying.

They clearly have some serious work to do.

I wouldn't care if this wasn't the norm in the past 10 years, but that seems to be were things have gone. The visiting team seems to be more prepared for the "sloppy" elements than we are.

I completely disagree with that sentiment.

Again, if you're a good team you produce in anything.
The Bucs are a mediocre team yet their coaches expected their team to produce in it. They called a deep pass and mid level passes and their QB and WR's delivered.

They clearly need to stop running to the domed practice field every time it rains. I've worried about this result from the very first time I heard the bubble was being built.

The defense did play well. The offense however did not look well. I know the offense is behind the defenses this time of year BUT, we did not look as comfortable on offense(starters) as the visiting teams' offense(starters).

I saw some positive things as well.

    I liked the OL play.
    I liked Jerry and Incognito.
If Incognito can keep his temper under control he's going to be a huge signing.

It's not that I don't think the O is capable of solid production.
    It's not about being negative.

It's about seeing just how unprepared and sloppy the first string O was in wet conditions. It's unacceptable. I'm not saying the O is going to be bad. I'm saying it's clear they better work on their being able to handle adverse weather because clearly the Bucs were able to and the Phins were not.

If it dosen't rain this week they should have a hose out on the field wetting the balls down till Henne shows he can throw a wet ball and until the starting WR's show they can consistently catch a wet ball.

It's August bro... It will be a cold crunchy field as we move on in this thing during the season on the road. It was messy but understand the big picture
Doubt we worry about any of this in Nov/ Dec really. Being upset over rain is um not my biggest worry.

Not saying to be worried about it.
To ignore it though would be ridiculous.

They need work in wet conditions. Just hoping they force it upon them and correct it now rather than later.

The only thing I care about is no injuries. Playing in that crap in a meaningless game where you're trying to evaluate talent has to be the worst thing that could happen.

Ya'll are way too nice, even if it was pre-season in rainy weather.

That was the Bucs.... the 3rd worst team in the NFL last year, and we're supposed to be a team with playoff aspirations.

The Bucs' first team offense was much better tonight in the same muddy dirt.

Our hope is that was Nolan's defensive mindset causing all those turnovers, instead of the weather, or that would've been a blowout home loss to the Bucs....

I bet Sparano let loose a fury in the locker room

I dunno, if you call the Bucs performance "delivering" than we have different definitions. I'd rather have dropped passes and 10 pts. than a crap ton of turnovers and 7 pts.

No, I don't think he rounded off the route at all. He is 6'4 so it looks kind of awkward when he runs the routes. BUT, he did a double move flag dig route and did it efficiently. He attacked the inside shoulder of the DB, went 12-15 yards upfield, sunk his hips and threw his head while planting his right foot and exploding outside, then sunk his hips again, planted his left foot and threw his head while turning back inside causing separation from the DB and getting open. Thigpen just threw the ball badly behind Turner.
