This is Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. There's more in the link below. It's officially the greatest article of the week, because it's one we all like. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/16079/exepert-sides-with-henne-over-sanchez
We shall see Muck we shall see.....Sanchez has more pressure no doubt than Henne does.... and Henne has the better personel group though IMO....OL are a push to me...
There is nothing in that article I don't agree with. I've been telling anyone who will listen that the Jets will finish 8-8 at best this season. Probably 7-9.
I'm honestly surprised, especially coming from ESPN. Guess one of their writers actually decided to put down the NY times, look at numbers and film. Next thing we know, Fox News will run some "Middle of the Road" articles.
Scout: Chad Henne threaten a defense on every level http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast The Sanchez stuff: Blah Blah The "Henne can threaten the defense on every level" Excitement level rises, THAT was our problem for the last two seasons, Defenses basically could play Red Zone defense with 8 or 9 men in the middle of the field which means: -tough to run the ball -In HC Sparano's words: "..fellas I told you this last yr, but you did not want to believe it, when there are 8 or 9 men around the line of scrimmage, the Tight End is not going to eat, he is just not.." Which is why David Martin is back in the fold, when Nolan was asked how they handled BMarsh he said "you have to double him, you cannot let him beat you" Which means that 8th or 9th man leaves the Zone around the Los..
Let's not use this article as an excuse to toot our own horn here. But just for argument's sake, it's unfair to compare the two. One is human, and the other is a robot. Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto.
All last season, Henne was asked to win games as our running game declined and defense was swiss cheese...and he damn near pulled it off several times. Sanchez was hidden behind a dominant D and run game, and every time they asked him to be the focus of the offense he pissed down his own leg.
I just started a thread based on this very topic. What matters to me is NOT the "rah rah our Qb is better than yours 'cause a Scout said so". It is the fact that the Offense can now push the ball all over the field, there literally is no portion of the field that Chad Henne cannot force the defense to defend. That has not been the case in Miami since #13 played Qb...
will soon get a preview of the Iceman @ work time to step up we need the Franchise QB to lead us to a SuperBowl
From the end of February till the 2nd week of September, all we have is banter. Heck, that's more than half the year. Without it this site would be a ghost town.
Well, I think it's time to show this article to our friends in NY. Be back in a minute with a link http://www.jetnation.com/forums/index.php?/topic/90787-expert-sides-with-henne-over-sanchez/
Lol if you look at the comments all the Jet fans are leaving comments like "Williamson doesn't know ****" YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
You ah, were never quite on that "Sanchize" bandwagon in 09 were you Bro? IIRC, that throwing off of his back foot, poor accuracy, weakish arm, were all points you brought up no?
Well, funny this should come up, but in reality, Henne could be the biggest question mark we have in camp right now. Sure, there are other battles going on, but Henne has to DO it now. There's no later or next season or whatever...If he doesn't produce, we will be back to square one again come the offseason of 2011.
At one time, someone had a "Not Milk" avvy featuring Brady, I've been waiting for a "not mustard" sig featuring the Nacho...
Its all burried in a thread here somewhere. Would be almost a year old cause it was right after their first Pre-Season game. I saw the same thing at USC. Smart, big kid that didn't have good fundementals. Good thing he's proving me right this time. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn if given enough chances.
Wonder if Williamson will get canned, the NY audience is probably pretty upset right now, especially since their best player isn't even playing this year. I never read much of Williamson before, anyone know his roots in reporting? Any prior connection to Miami? Because if not, this is a great vote of confidence from a non dolphin fan who covers the NFL. And i completely agree with everything he said. But of course, it's like anything, it's an opinion, Henne needs to go out there and prove it. I think Padre, in your assessment about making defenses defend the whole field with the addition of Marshall, it goes even further having a physical freak wideout who is amoung the top run blockers in the league. How many times did R&R come close on the edge to hitting a home run all to have the CB or S make the tackle after 15 yards. If Marshall can block like we know he can, we could see some more home run type runs from our backs this year. Thats part of the Marshall package i don't see talked about very much, understandably, because of his routes running and catching ability. I would guess he will make our overall run blocking that much better.
From the ground up, Sanchez is ahead of Henne in terms of the fundamentals - in particular, throwing mechanics. Henne has the stronger arm and more of a gunslinger mentality, which I like a lot. If Henne doesn't work on setting his feet when he throws, he will never progress past where was last season; whereas, with the more solid mechanics in place, if Sanchez improves his decision-making, which comes with experience, he will end up the better Quarterback. Conversely, with Henne's arm and brain, if he gets his mechanics under control he will pull far ahead of Sanchez and stay ahead. What concerns me is that I have not seen nor heard one thing about Henne working on his footwork - not one.
I'm going to have to disagree on that point. I saw many, many times Sanchez just chuckin' that thing off of his back foot, jump passing, etc. Henne stands tall and steps into his throws...maybe even stands in too long.
The thing about Mark is, he ended the year on a decent note. He was horrible the whole year, but in the playoffs he played respectably. Kinda had a stinker against SD but againt Cincy he was efficient, against Indy he had good numbers. Henne ended the season with 3 TDs and 6 INTs. He has no momentum going so he better kickstart it.
I like #5...... Jupe you crazy SOB.....actually hold up.....I'm gonna post this on ganggreen....brb!!! ahh nuts I have to have 50 posts first...I have 1...
Absolutely; but Sanchez was a true rook, thrown into the fire. Under pressure, most QBs' mechanics will deteriorate, but especially a rookie. Henne did some of that too...I think it's to be expected of a first-year starter. Eventually and with experience, they should both improve their decision-making and controlling their mechanics under pressure. But throwing from the pocket, I see Henne's lack of a stable launchpad his greatest weakness.
Henne really only had 2 stinker games...against Tennessee and Buffalo...and even though he did throw 3 INT's in the Tenn game, I think one or 2 bounced right off receivers hands. Other than that, he was either very efficient to very good. Not bad for the first 13 starts of a career.
Damn. Those dudes sure get pissy. And they're awfully defiant considering we swept them last year. Whatever.
Swept is relative to living in reality. Jest fans do not live in reality therefore they were not swept. One Championship in 60+ years yet they're the best every year. Just the difference between the fans is huge. Every team will eventually win a ring. The real teams have storied histories beyond Joe "INT" Namath's finger wag.
True.. None of their comments even take the article to task. None of them discuss the differences of the players, the just come back with "***!" Good argument! And why is it so hard for them to realize that they got into the playoffs playing 2 teams that took the weeks off and then ran into 2 teams that couldn't kick field goals... Just like our 2009 season, as magical as it was, happened in large part because we played a lot of weaker competition down the stretch. It's not damning what happened, but it's a large reason why.
The thing that would concern me most about Sanchez is his lack of mental toughness. Last season when teams got to him early he had a horrible game. He hasn't had a game where he did bad and then bounced back. Not saying it can't improve. I just think it is something he really needs to improve.
I don't think Sanchez will necessarily be a bad QB...I just saw a young Jay Fiedler in him...can move well, will have a game that makes you think he's got it, then have a 3-INT game. You can win with a guy like that, but can you count on him? I guess time will tell.
Whereas in the Tampa game, Henne threw that TERRIBLE INT. And on the very next possession led our boys down the field for the game winning FG. Toughness...our boy has it...
