Good to hear about the defense and sean smith bounce back playing up to his potential. Seems like this hybrid defense is giving the offense trouble. Henne rough start but still not concerned. Hartline pretty sure has locked up the starting position. Dan Carpenter WTF missing 3 in a row.
PAT WHITE PIMPIN LOL. I really like Brandon Marshall's attitude since he came. Love how he says he let the team down today by not being prepared. Thats a fantastic attitude. Agree with the first post too. This is Henne's team and the expectations are alot higher. Hopefully he doesnt go through the dreaded sophmore slump. Nice to hear Sean Smith bounced back
If White plays great in the preseason, there will be an awful lot of faces with egg on them.. Have to laugh a bit at BMarsh's quote about Henne's arm, when BMarsh was mic'd up Orton said he threw BM a pass "as hard as he could"...the Robot has a plus fastball, BMarsh now knows what DBess went through last season.
Everyone has been bashing Sean Smith and then he steps up and apparently has a good day. He isn't giving up just yet. Even our star WR thinks so.
Sean Smith got his! LOL It's so good to hear the kid figured out a top 3 receiver and hopefully this translates into the regular season against opposing offenses. That offense has to get their schnizz together soon. Not liking the dropsies by #19... ...
I hope Sean can keep this up throughout the year. I also liked Ricky basically telling Chad that it's on him to take them to the playoffs an beyond.
Nothing really special about that, IMO. It's how the NFL works: your team is as good as your quarterback.
I like the fact that sean made his play against Brandon on the first play....Even if his coach won't admit it, i like that kind of tone setting...
Who are you, and why do you post here? Anyhow....I'll take 75% of Henne's passes being completions. And I hope Smith continues to progress. Ive been a critic of his. BE MORE PHYSICAL! B.Marsh is gonna TORCH the league this year!!!
You see one, two, maybe three people say something about Smith, and EVERYONE is bashing, and yes, I have been riding your coatails to prove a point. 97 percent of the posters on this site seem to like Smith just fine. Get it right man because you're the first one to bash players and posters for that matter so.....
I'm not real sure but that might be uncalled for. I was giving props to Sean Smith for having a good day. I would to like to know what I did wrong in your eyes. I'm just happy to see to see this young defense step up. They had a good day. who was I bashing Oz?
Sean Smith has done well this entire camp, unless I have been reading the wrong reports. He's had some issues with the deep ball but so has every other cornerback. I don't know if I would call tonights outing as a "bounce back" because I don't know if he ever came down a level. I didn't read anything in the camp reports that made me think he was doing a poor job out there.
Thanks for sharing the info, might want to be careful about putting too much of an article on here, could cause copy-write infringement concerns. Better to post a few paragraphs and a link. Seems like Henne has finally had a bad day, and that is likely a good thing, 1 it means the D is improving, particularly Sean Smith, 2 it should keep Henne from thinking he's da bomb and keep him hungry to improve.
dedicated two separate threads to the subject of Henne & the 2010 Franchise QB situation. No More Excuses! thank God we have a healthy Pennington awaiting in the wings ready to step up if called upon the IceMan has to get it right from the first preseason game & not look back
if not pennington, thigpen will do nicely personally I'm not worried Henne will fish or cut bait No More Excuses! our QB stable is solid Chad Pennington is a Franchise QB & apparently healthy having said that let's hope the IceMan gets it together & has a banner year
I can tell ya Alen that I don't think our coach thinks he's had a good camp so far. either that or there are some serious mental games being played. His very answer to that specific question was very yucky [for lack of a better term}, what Iam hoping for is that Our coach is Mind fu$#^ng him because he realizes that Sean has a chance to be great, and he doesn't want him to get to cocky. Ive really been reading into this situation, and the more I do, the more I think Tony is trying to keep this rising star humble.
you keep saying that but there are now quite a few articles saying something different. Not saying you're wrong but since 99% of us havent seen the practices we can only go by what we read till the games start
just might right on that one, Friend djphinfan a little humility goes a long way in introspection perspective & makes people work harder...
a couple of things to think about...we have people who I don't trust in the talent evaluation dept reporting to us about player talent. One or 2 articles about 1 mistake can snowball into a false perception... However, none of that BS make's up for how I know Tony is not happy with this kid one way or the other. From Brandon's comments about how Sean has owned him the past couple of day's, i'am thinking its head games from our coach
Then just say he had a good day and your glad instead of saying how EVERYONE was bashing him because it's not true...
I think the idea that Smith is "bouncing back" is mostly a product of the media and casual fan attention. As Alen1 stated, Smith has had a good camp. He got beaten on some high profile plays (Marshall's first day) while the other CBs were beaten just as often on lower profile plays so it made it seem that he struggled more than others. Then the plays he made seemed to slide under the radar for all but the most dedicated camp followers, but he did make them. Finally, he played with the second team on a day when a few other starters on defense were rested and many assumed it was a demotion. IMO it is at least as likely (actually more likely) that the move was just done to give others the opportunity with the #1 defense. This would only be the third year in a row that the coaching staff has done the same thing with multiple positions. So I don't see what Smith is "bouncing back" from other than from having a good camp. I guess it could be a bounce back from having a couple of bad plays that were heavily reported to having a couple of good plays that were heavily reported.
i admit i followed the posts from the media a little, 3 or 4 guys were sayin he gets beat on a regular basis, i still love him though, with that size if he would just more physical
That's what Iam tryin to say Raf....coach would disagree with you, he did not say Sean has had a good camp, in fact he played it down to the point of BLAH.....now I don't know if that's based on poor play, or overconfidence, Iam thinking and hoping the latter.
